Salman Khan's presence in the first episode
of Bigg Boss 11 got that episode a rating of
2.9. The first episode of Bigg Boss 11 was
riding high on curiosity as people were
unsure about the contestants till the last day.
It also had big names from TV like Shilpa
Shinde and Hina Khan, which garnered
attention. However, it went downhill from
there. The show didn't manage to sustain
the initial high thanks to the average
contestants that make up as the inmates
this season. It's not like the makers aren't
trying. On their part, they are roping in one
oddball after the other to keep the show
interesting.
Just last week, cringeworthy popstar,
Dhinchak Pooja, was sent into the house as
a wild card entry. A while later, ousted
contestant, Priyank Sharma, too, was
brought back. But nothing managed to get
the show decent numbers. There was a time
till even a few seasons ago, when Bigg Boss
garnered the best viewership on TV but it
couldn't last. The success of such a show
depends majorly on the kind of contestants
that are participating and it is only natural to
assume that the audience is not happy with
the ones selected since the past few
seasons. And, this has become a cause of
worry for Salman Khan if a Mid-day report is
to be believed. According to the report, the
actor, who has just wrapped up Tiger Zinda
Hai, and is about to start Race 3, is rather
concerned about the show's dwindling
numbers.
It is not that the contestants this time aren't
providing enough fodder. There are various
burning issues like sexuality, sex-education
and morals that are being discussed in the
house but somehow despite all that, the
controversies are not turning into numbers
for the channel. Is the audience done with
the format of the show or is it just a matter
of saturation. The show also started off a bit
earlier than previous years this time, so
perhaps that can also be one of the reasons.
But we are only guessing here. It is obvious
that, as a host of the show, Salman must be
worried about the numbers given that he
has been associated with the show since a
long time now and wouldn't want his show
to suffer.
Well, it remains to be seen as to how would
Salman and the makers of Bigg Boss redeem
themselves from here.
