Will anyone speak up against sexism in movies and TV?

In today's era of petitioning and censoring, why has no one petitioned against sexist movies and TV shows? The censor board that is so willing to censor many scenes, doesn't seem to be censoring sexist scenes? Isn't sexism one of the biggest problems in society- leading to many other problems like violence again women etc. The influence of TV, movies etc. on culture has been proven in many socio-epidemiological studies. That is why Aamir Khan even apologised in Satyamev Jayate for acting in sexist movies.
If movies are not bad enough, we have TV serials that are propagating sexism. In many serials, the males man-handle the females, then the females miraculously fall in love with the males and many girls fan-girl over these male leads. Don't people realise that boys who watch these shows may learn that chauvinism is the way to win women's hearts and man-handling is okay? That girls learn that such men are the standards of romantic ideals and think that they should marry 'dark' men and reform them? Sexist serials, like movies too, influence culture negatively in society. There's also reverse sexism against males- women on TV seem to be randomly throwing around false rape accusations against males. There's even a show where the wife falsely accused her husband of rape. With such nonsense being shown, doesn't this belittle the struggle of genuine rape survivors?

It is sad to see to people seem to have accepted this as a fact and a part of life. The entertainment industry plays a large role in influencing culture and if we all don't start speaking up, these movies and shows are going to continue and negatively influence culture and propagate sexism for decades

Why is the media largely quiet? The media seems to be no longer working to bring a positive change to society but rather sell news for popularity. I would like to dare the media to speak up against popular movies and TV shows and call them out for their regressiveness. But will they do so? None of them will dare to do so due to fear of being attacked by ardent fans.

To clarify, I'm not saying sexist movies and shows should be banned, but rather moderated. And there should be more discussion about such regressive content in movies and on TV and there should be forums, petitions etc. to encourage film-makers to reduce such regressive content and promote a more progressive society.

I don't watch any of those stupid TV shows but as far as I've heard about them, those shows are mostly about the women and their over-dressed over-jewelled selves. I guess men don't have much to do in those shows. So, I guess it's reverse sexism, if at all.
And about those shows where the women fall in love with the bad boys, I guess yes that should be addressed.
In fact in general, the whole stupid concepts of these shows should be addressed for how regressive they are.
I'd watched one interview of the famous Kekta Kapoor where she mentioned that her not-so-regressive shows never worked as well as the regressive ones. That basically talks a lot about the mentality of the audience. Guess people who watch these shows need to change first i.e. society as a large needs to first get a better mindset and then the right kind of shows will earn enough money so that these regressive ones can be replaced.

I agree totally with you. But it seems to be a never-ending cycle. Movies and TV, which influence society, continue to impact society negatively. When they want to show to show progressive stuff, society rejects it. But then, people in society want progress, yet aren't willing to work for/ accept it. When will this vicious cycle ever end?
