Its believed that, when vishnu was born, laxmi also came into existance.(They are the oldest & first couple to get married.( ppl always use god laxmi narayan as divine witness in their wedding.)

She didn't know, what her identity or responsibility was ? out of boredom..laxmi cleaned, decorate & finished all the chores in vishnu's abode with care bringing love & beauty in the air.NeatnesS was her first priority, then she didn't know what to do..so sat near vishnu's feet.( like always we see in poster laxmi serving vishnu)..vishnu was shocked to see lcxmi's work & was v pleased but couldn't understand why she chose to sit near his pada. laxmi said..serving you is my first priority.

Vishnu was stunned and honored her two things.. your name should comes first before mine' because she became an ex- for selflessness & husbands duty is to respect women/wife in the family..yatra narayastu pujayate ramante tatra devata- means..where the women are honored,divinity bollosm..swayam..laxmi narayan ka vas hotha hai.

There is a great thought and lesson- hard to explain in detail..but you got the point why DIL/WIFE recognized as laxmi & why women in the family gets highest recognition such as ..addressing begins with wife names. inspite of so many examples,- wstill see lot of abuse.its deeply saddens about the soch of the society and blames dharma & purana for such baseless soch.-
