Viji your review is excellent as usual.
But to be honest, I couldn't rave about anything neither Ishita and Raman scene nor Raman and Ruhi scene. The questioning of Ishita did come out too late and the excuse Raman gave as he is "helpless" is too lame and it's too little too late.
Here is why; If we stand back and look at the whole show it's no longer carrying a family story nor a mohabbatein. Its crime ridden and tracks are totally revolving around Shagun which carry nothing I mean NOTHING but DISGUST.
Both Raman and Ishita are biggest losers and failures as parents and as couple. I put parents first as that was the whole reason they both got married and what they did? Both failed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for their two kids Adi and Ruhi (I will address Pihu later). In the initial days the bonds were depicted so realistically as it showed the bonds between Ishita and Ruhi as mother and daughter, the discipline and the pampering and doing things together; making dishes Ishita cooking chicken for Shailu bua, their visits to book store and to get a phone for Raman and as a father and daughter Raman wanting to buy everything that Ruhi was asking by buttering him up and her coming up to him and asking him to come to the school to talk to her principal when she had a fight with Mani's never shown nephew in school because she was afraid to tell her mother. So real and it really makes you believe you are watching your neighbors. And though he was taunting her it was not hurtful and he always shows that respect to her as a woman and mother of his child. He gave Ishita the respect she deserved as Ruhi's mother. He never doubted nor questioned her love for that child. He was even thankful to God that she came into his life as his child's mother.
If there is a majboor from Raman's end it was during Mrs. Iyer's accident time. Until the truth of Adi being the culprit dawned on him, he was a perfect spouse to Ishita lending his shoulder for her to cry and lean on and a perfect SIL for Iyer family. But once the truth was known to him he was torn between being a father and a husband. The pain that he can't reveal the truth to his wife because at that point he doesn't know how she will react as she is a "Step Mother to Adi. The hurt he was feeling because he was hiding and betraying his wife's trust on him. It was that beautiful.
But later, what he did is all unpardonable starting from "exchanging Ruhi for Adi by betraying Ishitaand taking Ruhi for granted that he can exchange her as a commodity. Because he couldn't trust Ishita to tell her Adi's condition despite her bringing him home and tolerating Shagun for Adi's sake. Never once have a conversation how it feels for her to carry his excess baggage and garbage called his adulteress ex-wife. He just took Ishita for granted. And that slippery slope continued until he went and brought the same garbage called Shagun back through surrogacy to bring a child of his and Ishita through deception. It didn't stop there and he had to do one more exchange of Ruhi for Pihu. He once again took Ruhi for granted and exchanged her for Pihu. He may have dreamed that things will go peachy without any backup plan from his end and when they didn't his wrath fell on his wife and to wash his guilt off he threw her out of his, and his kids' life including their new born Pihu. He did fail as a father big time who didn't and couldn't put his kids needs before his anger and outbursts and stupidity. He and Shagun both only cared for their feelings and their needs rather putting kids first. It's so unfortunate that Adi, Ruhi and Pihu were born to such pathetic and selfish parents. Ishita also failed here. In her grief of losing Ruhi she forgot that she has two more kids and THEY NEED HER MORE THAN ANYTHING and tried to kill herself. Her family failed her by not standing by her in her hour of grief. Because of Raman's irrational behavior his family broke and his kids' lives were neglected. Once again, he ran to Shagun and brought her back to raise his and Ishita's kid instead of letting her raise by his and her family. He once again failed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for his kids. He pushed Adi who became suicidal because of Shagun's neglect towards her again. Robbed of a good parenting for Pihu by putting her in Shagun's hands.
Today's Raman's outburst has no grounds as he first jumped on Ishita blaming her for not revealing it to him. First, what's there to reveal when he himself was encouraging Ruhi to take care of Nikhil. Who would do that? Secondly, Ishita got burnt with his uncontrollable outbursts so many times which always end up her being thrown out of the house and how can she even have a conversation with him regarding Ruhi's budding love towards Nikhil. Thirdly, they as parents failed to understand why Ruhi is falling in love with every tom, dick and harry who talks nice to her and never addressed that ever.
The problem Ruhi is facing and the question Raman asked why his daughter is facing this problem over and over is right in front of their eyes. It needs guts to accept the mistakes. Ruhi is not a normal teenager who is going though bouts of love sickness. What is happening to her is very unhealthy. She was exchanged as a ransom for her sister at the age of 7 and she lived with an abuser for 7 years who not just abused but made her to act like a boy by wearing boy's clothes and changing the name forgetting her identity and her gender. Ruhi lost herself. After being rescued instead of providing a psychological help her parents just let her be and do whatever she wanted. On top of that their never-ending fights and severing relationships continued providing a very toxic environment for any child. In all this Shagun and Pihu drama continued to no end. I'm surprised that none of them ended up in an asylum may be the house itself is a mad house. Raman's constant ego boosting of Ruhi made her believe she is always right no matter what and added to that instability her lack of education helped boost her ego to max where she even believed that she is bigger business magnate than her papa. What Ruhi has at this point is a roof over her head and all the things she wanted but love and care. As her parents are busy with their problems her papa with his blaming, abusing of her mother and her mother continuous caring of the world and who all lived in there vs. her kids and their wellbeing made Ruhi look elsewhere for that love and care. So, whoever talked to her with care she fell for them. Her age and her lack of understanding of her emotions and lack of guidance from her parents made her go after wrong persons who knows nothing but breaking hearts. Wish CVS can show something sensible regarding disturbed teens but I doubt it. For them the more misery more TRPs.
Even in this Raman is truly Raman, instead of looking at the problem which is he himself, he first put the blame on Shagun and Nidhi for his kids' problems. They are there because he brought them into their lives. Even with Nidhi gone now but Shagun still hovers over his life as an eclipse that never leaves and any given chance he runs after her more than standing by his family, wife or kids.
So, the episode and the dialogs that including Ishita asking him why is he blaming her always is all placed at the wrong time. They did nothing for me as a viewer.
The CVS are nincompoops as well as smart. By just making Raman and Ishita utter what we want to hear they are planning to shove more crap down our throats. The saga of Ruhimaa continues and parents are ok with whatever she is doing. Shagun still waltzes into Bhalla's house. Whom did she miss? Raman or Ruhi or Adi or Pihu or Alia? Why she should be even there? Why can't she just be like Nirvan as in name only?
