I like Satrupa but I could never connect with her for what she did to Anami. so today I was watching the show with my mom and suddenly I asked my mom what she thinks of Satrupa's actions to give up one of her children. that is when my mom told me this story from her maternal village.

Apparently, in olden times, when my mom was just a toddler, people in those villages used to consider the birth of twins as ominous. so there was a lady who gave birth to twins , both sons, but was told by their family purohit that if the children were to see each other's faces before they were eighteen years of age then they both would die. scared her in laws asked her to live up one of her children and hence she let her brother take one of her sons.

in fact she was so scared that her children might see each other by accident that she would not even visit her brother's home and her son grew up thinking of his uncle and aunt as his parents.

After eighteen years she went to get back her son but he refused to even meet her and never came back with her.

I was totally shocked by this story and that's when I realized how hard it must have been for Satrupa. Imagine if you were told something like this by a person whose every prediction till date has come true? would you be willing to take the risk as a mother?

not to say that she did wrong Anami coz given a choice between hurting her son versus her daughter she chose to hurt the latter only and only because she was born a girl. but I do now understand that her choice was not between what's right or wrong but who she had to wrong.

As you said even though I'm able to understand her actions but not able to accept it, I want Anami to go back to Banaras and stay with her pagali paditayan and that family at the end of the serial... I really want that to happen ...

I find it very hard to sympathize with satrupa.

Gurji had clearly told her to give up her first born. Giving up her first born he said would keep away bad omens and would most importantly keep her children safe. Her first born was Vatsalya. But she chose to give up Anami. She chose to give up the girl child.

I can't sympathize with satrupa for what she did to Anami not only then but also today..Forget about the cruel but mendatory decision of giving up the first child to protect both,that was another debate..but differentiating sexes as a mother is something else.17years before she did injustice to Anami by giving her up for vatsalya and now taking her back home against of her wishes by blackmailing is also an injustice to her and in no way can justify satrupa and her actions.

Not a injustice only to her but also to the parents who raised her with all their heart and soul. Instead of being greatful to them she gets them charged and arrested for kidnapping. Like what a 🤬 . the truth is Satrupa is a selfish woman who can go through any extend for self gain. That's exactly whats she doing, using Anami. She chose to keep Vatsalya for power. And now she's ready to accept "her daughter" for power.

Completely agree with you..Satrupa at least should aplogised to them for what she did to them despite their help in bringing up her daughter like what she did to pujan yesterday.in this 17 years she never remembers that she has a daughter too..had she did the same if she had given up her son instead of daughter?

yeah. agreed. I can never accept her actions too. in the end I do hope Anami goes back to her real parents, the one who brought her up. they deserve to have their daughter back.

I don't sympathize with her. like I said, she wronged Anami and I stand by it. if she had given up Vatsalya maybe I could have had a small feeling of sympathy for her for following guruji's advice word to word but differentiating between your own two children based on gender is quite a selfish thing to do.

the story simply made me understand her reasons though. like how I hate Tywin for hating on Tyrion but I do understand why he does that. 😆

neither can I. I would never sympathize with her. I simply understand her decisions. to me she feels like a real person. I stand by the fact that she has wronged Anami at every point in her life from her birth.

Completely agree...

She was least worried about her whereabouts till date and now she wants Anami back to get back to power. It will be her blood in power is all she is worried about.

It was her selfishness that for her need she framed the gentle people who raised her daughter and gave all the love to her. Her daughter was not deprived of love but grew in environment full of love. The love she denied her for whatsoever reason it may be.

Even today, she uses them to get Anami listen to her wish - like making her eat. Ideally if a mother will want to be a mother she will be so possessive of her that she will make her efforts.. try try and try on her motherly credibility to make Anami eat. But she does it in easy way using people who can do anything for Anami and vice versa.
