Hi JJ, finally landed here. Watched first 10 episodes and soon plan to catch up with the rest. Am loving the show.
As you said, a very fine show with a gripping storyline, topnotch acting, no OTT, and complex characters. Plus a pleasant surprise for me and one more reason to watch the show - My favorite actress during DD(doordarshan) times SANGEETA GHOSH. The lady is as beautiful as ever. I like her very much.
I hope there is some thread where we can discuss the episode like RR times.
Some specific comments based on my limited watching of only first ten episodes.
So the premise basically appears to be mother-daughter conflict. But the thing is here each character has a mysterious past. It is a story of every character associated with LALMAHAL
We have two mothers who have/had abandoned her child. And the thing is both have no love lost for the child. Whatever I have watched I doubt if Satrupa was a mother to her son also. She was raising an heir to an empire not a son. And now she brought Anami back for the same reason.
Pagli panditain is an ideal mother. probably the most lovable character in the show. But I think her character is too glorified to show the contrast between her and Satrupa. A very small instance did brought out her true nature when Ladu had drowned and she blamed Anami for that referring to her not been her child. Why was it shown I don't understand.
Why does Anami hate her mother only for her abandonment. Why no question about her parents in general. Why doesn't she equally blame her father too.
Satrupa appears to be most selfish woman atleast from what I have watched. neither her tears nor her guilt brings out any pity from me.
Ok enough for now. You know how I can write long essays once I do get involved in a show.
Right now the only quote which comes to my mind is
" WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO USE YOUR
CHILDREN AS WEAPON
UNDERSTAND THAT ONE DAY
YOU WILL END UP WITHOUT ANY
AMMUNITION..."
