What type of a name is Anami? Is it supposed to show that she has no identity - someone without a name? Or is it a name in fashion in India?

Mostly...often Girl children are named as "Anami" than boys(still, even boys also named as Anami).

Anami - one of the names of Buddha

Meaning- Genesis/Origin

That word also implies "Popularity"

In the show it is said she is named because she doesn't have a name. Anami literally meaning a (no) + nami (name). Her adopted dad says it when she is handed to him.
