Meri Pyaari Bindu had a low weekend and the trend was pretty flat. It managed some growth on Saturday but that was mainly because the film was very metro centric and Delhi NCR and Mumbai city always grow well on Saturday. The Bahubali 2 craze would have affected the film a little but not enough that it would have succeeded if Bahubali 2 was not there. The collections of Meri Pyaari Bindu over the first weekend are as follows.

Friday - 1,75,00,000

Saturday - 2,25,00,000

Sunday - 2,50,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 6,50,00,000

What a disaster. Off late, cashing on old songs and nostalgia has become a norm. So gimmicky and annoying.

I watched it last night.

Oh god. I really wanted to like it. I really tried. But why. 😭

Major turn offs:

- EDITING is terrible - did not like the way the flashbacks are interpolated with the present day, it's quite jarring

- MUSIC - I adore Haareya + Maana Ke Hum, but I feel they didn't make best use of the songs. Haareya is probably my fav song of the year but the picturisation was awful, the way it comes in out of nowhere and the montage shots, just didn't gel. Even the old classics could have been utilised much better. Although I loved Meri Sapno Ki Rani portion.

- STORYTELLING was weak. The film is on the boring side, as the storytelling element is off-kilter. Maybe someone more experienced could have done a better job?

- DIRECTION so many scenes just left me turning to my friend with "W*F" on my face. Like why when Abhimanyu's parents come to visit him, do his friends sit in a row with a SHEET over their knees?

So-so:

- CINEMATOGRAPHY - the camera-work was questionable. The hues angles and movement of the camera stood out to me for the wrong reasons. When a scene should have looked realistic it looked plastic. But there were some nice shots too.

- CHARACTERS - Ayushman had the much better role, and he acted brilliantly, but the script lets him down. Parineeti's character was slightly all over the place. She performs very well, but by the time she really gets a chance to perform, you're already hardly bothered about her character to care much.

Disappointing overall. A very generous 2 stars from me.
