the reporter who followed him into the lift

Remember that time when a reporter had followed CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani into a lift? Well, as per a report in The Quint, Pahlaj Nihalani has filed a harassment complaint against the reporter Himanshi Chaudhary where he also alleges intimidation and breach of privacy. He had reported this complaint on Friday, making us wonder whether this was about the JHMS controversy or for when the reporter asked him about his take on the 48 cuts for Babumoshai Bandookbaaz.

In his police complaint, Pahlaj Nihalani stated that the reporter was "continuously harassing me in my office building premise... exceeding all levels courteous behaviour... and bullying the security guards and office staff into letting her enter my office. This, as per his complaint, was amounting to willful obstruction of a government employee from fulfilling his duties'. Of course, she did! He had to stop so many movies from releasing, didn't he?

But in an interesting twist, the Mirror Now editor Faye D'Souza and the reporter, Ms Chaudhary, have their own set of allegations that it was Nihalani who was intimidating as he grabbed the reporter's arm and threatened her at his office. Speaking to the Quint, he said, "A reporter asking questions doesn't amount to harassing. If Mr Nihalani thinks that by filing a complaint against the reporter he can intimidate the reporter or Mirror Now, he is mistaken. Using tactics like this is laughable. We will be putting out the whole video shortly. It was Mr Pahlaj Nihalani who went on the offensive. He intimidated the 23-year-old reporter and not the other way round. He grabbed her by the arm, waved his fingers at her and misbehaved. She also revealed that they would be releasing complete footage of the incident to clarify their stand.

To give you a clarity on what happened, Pahlaj Nihalani had a debate on Mirror Now where he had challenged the channel to bring one lakh votes and he would clear Jab Harry Met Sejal without any cuts. This was with reference to his dissent over the use of the word sexual intercourse in the movie. When the channel managed to get one lakh votes within the time limit in favour of JHMS getting passed with no cuts, Mr Nihalani changed his tune and says he wanted votes from people with families. That's when a reporter followed the CBFC chairman and asked him to clarify his stand, resulting in this hilarious video. And this happened just recently...

Well, when our movies fail to entertain us, our Censor Board always does!
