Chapter 16
Next morning Shaurya woke up to find Mehek sleeping peacefully on his chest. A smile broke on his lips. One of her bandaged hand lay on his tummy and her leg was thrown on his groin,crashing his manhood a bit. Shaurya loved the feel of her,hence he didn't move cherishing the moment. You are the most beautiful sight, he whispered. He leaned down and kissed her forehead. She snuggled into him, her whole body melting in his warmth. Tucking her hair strand behind her ears, His lips moved to her temple, then her cheek. "Babe.." he whispered very softly. "Hmm? She made a soft, questioning sound under her breath, turning her face toward his. But her eyes didn't open and the slow, steady rhythm of her breathing didn't change. She snuggled more close, rubbing her cheek against his chest. It wasn't until he felt the brush of her silken, soft skin against his that he realized he wore no shirt. "Shit! She'll freak out if she sees me like this!" He said in his heart. Slowly freeing himself he got out of bed. Picking his shirt from the floor he put it on,glancing at his sleeping beauty he came out of the room with a smile playing on his lips.
He found Manju in the kitchen. "Can you give Mehek a hand with her shower? I'll come and do her wounds later." Instead of answering,Manju started laughing. "What's so funny? Main koi comedy kar raha Hun yahan?" Manju gestured towards his head. "There's something in your hair." Shaurya ran his hand through his hair. Meheks earring came in his hand. Manju started giggling again. Embarrassed,he scolded Manju to concentrate on her cooking. With a sheepish smile he shoved the earring in his pocket and left towards his room.
"Shaury! Come beta have breakfast!" Karuna ma howled from the dining table when she saw Shaurya coming down the stairs. "How's Mehek now?" Mr and mrs purohit asked simultaneously. "I don't know yet...she was still sleeping when I left her room so..." answered Shaurya while hugging Karuna ma. "I'll go give her breakfast." Said Rahul while standing up. Shaurya made him sit. "You enjoy your breakfast...main Hun na? I'll go feed her..you have a meeting today no? Focus on that! I'm taking Mehek out after breakfast,she'll feel better and I also need to see Jaipur ..." "Han Han kiyu nai...Mehek has quite a lot of knowledge about Jaipur as she' has been here for a year now." Said Mrs purohit. Rahul looked dismayed as if he had just lost a bone to a dog! Shaurya smirked. Turning to Manju he said."Breakfast for two in Meheks room please!" Manju nodded and got back to her job.
Shaurya knocked on the door of Meheks room. "Mehek! You there?can I come in?" "Hmm..door is open andar aajao!" Howled Mehek. Shaurya entered the room to find Mehek sitting on her bed wearing a fresh pair of kurti and leggings. Her hair was wet and left open. Before he could get lost in the beauty of her hair,he went and sat beside her. "Tum theek ho na? How's your hand?" Mehek looked at him and just smiled. This time he couldn't refrain himself from drowning in her beauty. He ran his fingers through her wet hair and staring at her face like she was magic that no one ever understood. To bring him back from his thoughts,she leaned and kissed his hairy cheeks. "What was that for?" He asked coyly. "A Good morning kiss!" She said while blushing. "Accha? Mera bhi good morning kiss lelo fir" He leaned on her when Manju cleared her throat from the doorway. "Issko na...awaara se shaadi Kara dunga main!" Said Shaurya with a frown. Mehek laughed. "Not a bad idea! Pahle humari shaadi toh ho jaay." Mehek said with a wink. Shaurya was about to say something when Manju came in with the breakfast. "Manju,I'm missing one earring,I must have lost it in the hall,if you find it let me know please." Said Mehek. "Earring toh Shaurya bhaiya ke paas hai...it was hanging from his hair this morning." Shaurya glared at Manju for blurting out everything. "Kya?" Meheks eyes widened in disbelief. "Shaurya...did you sleep with me last night?" Shaurya took the tray and placed it on the bed. "I did but trust me I kept my hands and my other things to myself." Her cheeks changed shades of red as she blushed and lowered her gaze. With widened eyes Manju ran from there. Shaurya chuckled looking at Meheks cheeks. "Save it for our wedding night." Mehek gave him a questionable look. "Save what?" Shaurya caressed her cheeks with the back of his fingers. "Your blush!" Her blush deepened. "Tum bhi na Shaurya..." Shaurya laughed. "Chalo have your breakfast then I'll change your bandages." He fed her and himself as well. Mehek watched him from the corners of her eyes when he wasn't looking. Her heart soared at his sudden display of affection. She wanted to touch his face,caress it but her hand was bandaged and still sore. "I wish I could feed you too but my hands..." Mehek said sadly. "You can still feed me you know..." Shaurya's tone was full of mischief. "How?" Mehek looked at him as he leaned on her and whispered "With your sexy mouth." Shying away she pushed him and he laughed. "You are impossible Shaurya!" Still laughing he gave her pineapple juice to drink. Manju came in with some warm water to clean Meheks wound. "I'll do her wounds ...you take the dishes please." Manju nodded and left with the dishes.
Shaurya cleaned her wounds,applying antiseptic he bandaged it. "There you go!" A warm blush was starting to blossom across her chest and colour her cheeks when she said "thank you Shaurya." and kissed his cheek. "Kya baath hai miss sharma I'm getting a lot of kisses today." Shying away she got up and sat on the vanity chair in front of the dresser. "Aaj Bahut pyaar aa raha hai tum par that's why." She said softly. "Sorry? Kuch kaha tumne?" Mehek shook her head in no and watched him from the mirror as he grabbed a towel and started drying her wet hair. Her eyes moistened. "This can't be the Shaurya that broke my heart and abandoned me at the alter". She thought. "I don't know how to do a woman's hair but I'll try." He said while gently combing her silky hair. Karuna ma was standing by the door watching them. Tears swam in her eyes. "Kisi ki nazar na lage mere baccho ko." Blessing them in her heart she left from there. Somehow,with Mehek's guidance,Shaurya tied her hair in a bun. "One second! I'm not done yet!" He went to her nightstand and plucked a rose flower from a vase. He then tucked it on her hair bun. She blushed when he stared at her from the mirror. "Don't look at me like that.." Shaurya chuckled. "Where's your other earring?" He asked. "On the dresser." Shaurya found the earring and managed to get it on her earlobe,drawing another one from his pocket he did the same. "Aren't you a beauty?" With folded arms he asked. Mehek got up and threw herself in his arms. "I'm sorry Shaurya...for putting you through this...I shouldn't have hurt my hands." She sobbed and placed her bandaged hand on his cheek. Shaurya held her and pressed a kiss into her palm then her forehead. "Now stop crying and don't you dare repeat the same mistake ever,alright?" She nodded with tears. He picked her up in his arms as if she weighed nothing and placed her on her bed. "Take a nap for a while,I'll come and get you in couple of hours then we can go out and you can show me around Jaipur. Ok?" "No Shaurya I can't rest! I have to go earls restaurant in half an hour." Shaurya gave her a questionable look. "Earls restaurant? But why?" Mehek walked to her closet and came back with some documents in her hand. "You shouldn't be using your hand Mehek it will bleed!" Said Shaurya while taking the documents from her hand. He went through the pages while Mehek continued. "I wanted to open my own restaurant and I needed investors who can invest in my restaurant ...I have been in contact with few investors who are interested but before they can do that,they want me to prove that I am the best chef in town so today I have to cook with my staff and feed them,if they like what they eat then they can go on with the investment and if they don't like it then I'm done." Mehek sat on the bed sadly and Shaurya also sat beside her. He gently took her hand in his and looked into her eyes. He simply stared at her, a sweet, soft look on his face. "Mehek,I'm proud of you! This is a very good opportunity which you don't wanna miss but babe look at your hand..you can't cook with this!" Tears filled in her eyes. "But Shaurya..." Shaurya pressed his finger to her lips. "Leave this to me...I'll see what I can do but for now you need to rest...the more you rest the faster you'll heal." He leaned toward her. Her eyes wavered closed just as his lips touched her forehead. His lips were warm on her skin. His hand slipped behind her neck, and he turned slightly and kissed her temple.After a prolonged kiss on her temple he tucked her in and left before she could say anything.
It was around 5 pm. There was no sign of shaurya and neither of Vicky. She wanted to know if they were at earls restaurant and what their plan was. She had tried their cell phones but no one was answering. "Gees these K brothers!" She threw the phone on the bed and came out of the room looking for Manju. She almost bumped into her. "Sambhal ke Mehek Di!" "Sorry Manju! Have you seen Shaurya?" She asked worriedly. "Arey woh toh apne ma ke liye dawa laane Gaya hai medicine shop se." Meheks expression changed. "I trusted Shaurya to help me...he lied to me that he'll handle everything ...he failed me! Why do you do this to me all the time? how can I trust you Shaurya?" Tears streamed down her cheeks. "No Di...he didn't fail you ...please aap pareshan mat ho." Manju tried to console her. "Tu chal mere saath!" Mehek hurried to her room and and asked Manju to help her change. "Is anyone one home who can drive me to earls restaurant?" She asked while rushing down the stairs. "There's only one driver outside God forbid if anything happens to dada and daadi." Replied Manju who was running behind her to keep up the pace. "Just Drop us to earls and come back." She told the driver and hopped in with Manju.
They arrived at earls restaurant. "Hey Bhagwan! Everyone's here...hope I'm not too late." Mehek blabbered to herself while looking at the car park. She hurried inside,Manju trailed behind her. Investors were already in the dining and engrossed in a conversation. Hiding from them she rushed towards the kitchen. She froze at the scene in front of her! Manju gasped in astonishment. In front of them stood Shaurya,Karuna ma,vicky,nehal,awaara and others clad in colourful aprons. All were busy cutting,chopping,cooking and tasting. Tears formed in Meheks eyes for not trusting Shaurya. Mehek saw five other team also competing. "Remember guys,team Mehek has to win! So do your level best alright?" Shaurya told his team. Everyone screamed "yes sir!!!" "I wish Mehek was here to taste the food before we could serve it." Said Shaurya sadly. Tears now made its way down her cheeks. "How come Nehal and awaara are here?" She asked. "Actually Di,the day you hurt your hand I had to tell Shaurya about this investors thing,knowing that you won't be able to cook with your injuries,he arranged everything himself so that you win." Manju told her. "So he knew this from the day of the Roka?" Manju nodded happily. "Shaurya ko lekar main Kya Kya sochne lagi thi...I was so wrong about him..." sobbed Mehek. "Bharosa karna seekho Di!" Manju dried her tears. Mehek walked towards the open kitchen. "Shaurya..." Shaurya turned around to find Mehek standing there. "Mehek! What you doing here?" She kept her eyes on him the whole time as she walked towards him. His heart pounded faster the closer she got to him. When she was still a few feet from him,he removed his apron and hurried towards her. She ran to him and He caught her in his arms! With a sob she buried her face in his neck. "You should be home babe, he whispered, letting his lips brush her temple. Her whole body shook in his arms. "Thank you Shaurya ...you won my trust today!" He broke the hug and cupped her cheeks. "Did I? So tell me,how close are we to the big day?" His face held such a tender look. It made her heart trip "Very close." She blushed and lowered her gaze. His thumb brushed her chin. He leaned down and hovered, his breath on her temple. "Better be soon because I can't hold it any longer...if you know what I mean." Then he pressed his lips to her cheek. Her heart stuttered and her breath froze in her chest. He kissed her other cheek. She lifted her face to look up at him. He cupped her face with one hand and pulled her closer with the other. A shiver went up her spine. "Shaurya,everyone's watching us." She muttered. Unhappy,he released her. Again, she felt his breath against her hair, his voice sending pleasant sensations all through her. "We will have to continue this." With her cheeks turning more red,she ran and hugged nehal. "Di I missed you!" "I missed you too!" Both sisters hugged and kissed with tears. "Hi awara bhaiya!" Mehek waved to him but he came and hugged her sobbing. "Mehek bhabi!!!" "Awww.." well that Awww came from Manju who was gawking at awaara. MehRya caught her doing that,she blushed and hid behind Karuna ma. "Thank you ma! Thank you guys! This means a lot to me." Before she could break down Shaurya told everyone to hurry up as they had few minutes left to table the food. "Can you please do the honours of tasting the food? Miss sharma?". She nodded with a smile and started tasting the dishes one after the other. Adding some more herbs and spices she gave everyone a thumps up. Shaurya noticed her bandage was soaked in blood. "Mehek your hand! Chalo mere saath I'll put a new dressing on." Mehek hid her hand under her dupatta. "I'll change it after the investors taste the food Shaurya...not now please!" She insisted. He gave her a pained look. "Uff ho! Don't worry I'm fine for now." She assured him. As the food was placed on the trolley,Shaurya came from her and kissed her cheek. "All the best babe!" "Thanks babe!" Leaving him with an open mouth and widened eyes she followed her team. "Did she just say "babe" to me? Mehek turned,seeing his state she winked at him,with a seducing smile on her lips she left. He placed a hand on his kicking heart and gawked at her.
The food was tabled. Shaurya stayed back in the kitchen as the investors already knew him and he didn't want them to know he was there at that moment. Mehek stood there with vicky and her team as her food was being tasted. Sweat broke on her forehead as she watched them eat. Other teams foods were also tasted. After deciding for minutes,the investors came to a conclusion. "Hello ladies and gentlemen! We went through each and every dish prepared by you and your team and after tasting them we have come to a conclusion". Mehek squeezed her eyes shut and held her breath. "I'm pleased to announce the winning team which is team Mehek!" Mehek jumped in excitement. Her team was in for a hi5! Everyone applauded and congratulated her and her team. She saw Shaurya applauding with a smile so captivating. She wanted to run in his arms and kiss him till she was out of breath but that was not possible in front of everyone. "Mss sharma,read and autograph the documents please." One of the investors said. She took the forms in her hand. "One minute sir I'll just come." She hurried towards Shaurya with the documents. Shaurya was waiting for her with his arms wide open. She went in his embrace and his arms came around her rubbing and caressing her back. "Congratulations Mehek you did it!" "Not me! You did it with some beautiful people with you Shaurya so congratulations to us!" They hugged for few minutes. Then she showed him the documents which she had no knowledge about. Shaurya read it and explained the complete contract in brief and asked her to sign and seal the deal. Mehek showed him her bloodied hand with a sad face. "Take the documents home,sign it when your hand is better." Nodding she went to the investors. She was given few days to read and sign.
The teams were asked to finish what they prepared. Investors had left. "Shaurya Chalo na Kuch kha lete hai." Said Mehek. "We'll eat but not here." He grabbed her hand and brought her out of the building. "What's cooking in your head?" She asked. "A lot of thing! Things you don't wanna know!" He winked with a glint of mischief playing in his eyes. "Shaurya please..." she was still protesting when he scooped her petite figure up in his arms and carried her to his rented car. Placing her in the front seat he also hopped in from the driver side. Finding a first aid kit he changed her bandages. "Shaurya,how can I thank you?" She asked with tears. "Just come with me." He drove while she just stared at him. He caught her drooling at him so he started singing.
"Ayse na mujhey tum dekho seene se laga loonga..
Tumko main chura loonga tumse dil mein chupa loonga..."
Smiling and blushing at the same time,she rested her head on his shoulder as he hummed. Few minutes later they were parked in front of a dhaba. It was dark outside. "Shaurya,why did we come here?" He opened her side of the door and helped her out. "Obviously to eat!" He walked to the dhaba. With a confused expression Mehek trailed after him. "B..but you don't eat at a dhaba remember?" "But I do now!" He said with a smile and asked for a menu. "Since when?" Mehek couldn't believe what she was seeing. He leaned on her,his lips brushed her ears as he whispered. "Since the day I fell in love with you!" His eye focused on her face. His lips curved up ever so slightly at the corners. She looked at him and saw such a look of compassion in his brown eyes it made her heart flop around like a fish on a dry land. "Kaha khogayee? Decide the menu!" Still smiling he handed the menu to her. "You are unbelievable shaurya khanna!" He laughed. They placed their orders,Shaurya grabbed her hand and brought her out. The moon was shining bright above their heads. He brought her in the lawn and both of them sat down on the bed of grass. "It's beautiful isn't it?" She asked while resting her head on his shoulder and looking at the moon. He looked at her and said."Very!" A mat was spread on the grass and their food was served. "Can you bring spoons please?" He asked the server. "Shaurya,you have ten spoons already." He looked at her like what you talking about? Mehek showed him her ten fingers. "Use your hands Shaurya." He looked at her unbelievably. "Bloody middle class!" Mehek made an ugly face. "Bloody high class!" Both looked at each other and burst out laughing. Shaurya ate with his hands and fed her also. Talking and laughing,their dinner under the moonlight came to an end.
Shaurya came back after paying for the food. He found Mehek watching the moon with folded arms. A tiny sigh escaped her when his arms came around her waist and rested on her navel. The wisps of her silky hair danced around her pink-tinted cheeks just as he rested his chin on her shoulder. She twitched her head and he searched her face in the moon light. "Shaurya. She said his name on a happy sigh as she looked into his eyes. He twirled her around and pulled her against his chest. He stroked her cheek with two fingertips, his breath catching in his throat at the softness of her skin. "I'm craving since morning." He whispered. "For what?" Her breath hitched and her voice sounded more like a whimper. Her breath stuck in her throat when he looked into her eyes. How fierce and protective he had been. How rugged and masculine he looked with several days of rough stubble on his cheeks and chin. Her heart raced and her legs started to give up on her. "For this..." cupping her cheeks he captured her rosy petals with his. He kissed the corners of her mouth, then gazed into her eyes. She slid her hand behind his head and closed her eyes giving him more access. He kissed her full on the lips. Her knees went weak, and he lifted her off the ground and carried her to his car.
