Indeed a sad state of affairs
But it is pretty much the same everywhere
Power position and status has many advantages
Justice is only for a few selective
That too at times delayed

Really proud of the Malayalam industry for standing together and taking strong decision against the actor.
The films here are more realistic and are mostly not larger than life but we do have quite few stars here too . Also its high time that the actors association make some amends and bring transparency in its dealings, As an association it has been doing some great work helping out actors who are out of work and also creating a monthly payment fund of 5000 rs to the older actors .

The case is in progress waiting eagerly to know the truth . Kudos to the industry for taking a stand.

Stars are there today and then they will be replaced by stark kids and the cycle continues. So nope, Bollywood will never grow up

Huge money riding on the movies of the superstars.. and most of them having high connections.. is the very reason why this BW industry will never grow up!

They're paid staggering amount of salary and a staggering amount is invested in their movies

That might be the reason

Thta's not the case with Malayalam movie industry I believe

Regarding remuneration matter Malayalam industry cannot be compared to Bollywood , not even to tamil industry . But Dileep has another source of income too . He is a successful real estate business man , made crores in this business . He is super rich and he has more hold in malayalam industry, perhaps more than Mohanlal and mamooty and other senior actors . He had the power to control distributors , producers , and theatre owners since he was into all this and was the head of all related association .
In Kerala ,majority will turn against the culprit if he/she is involved in crime disregarding his status or power in society and if anyone supports the culprit the people will criticise the supporters too.

There are always these rumors, always unsubstantiated of course 🤔 of bad behavior by actors, directors and others. It includes physical abuse too. Even famous actresses have not been exempt. One of the most famous cases was a Malayalam/Tamil actresses called Shobha who committed "suicide" at the age of 17 I think, but below 20 I am sure. She was rather prolific and a National award winner by then. Her husband was a very respected director called Balu Mahendra (the director of Sadma). Though her parents suspected foul play and did ask for help it still remains a mystery I think Silk Smitha is another case. Roshini another lesser known actress, sister of two famous actresses Nagma and Jyothika too committed suicide.

For the first time to my knowledge such a big actor is arrested. Remains to be seen what is done, but this is a good thing IMO

Shobha's case gave rise to many controversies, but that was in 1980, those were the days film industry was not safe for women.

These days at least few actress show courage to raise voice against the injustice in the industry. Dileep's involvement in the case would have remained hidden if the actress were not persistent and strong, the media gave full support to the victim, moreover the actresses created their own association when the Actors association showed less interest in the case

But Shobha was Balu Mahendra's wife, granted his second wife and had a huge age gap between them. She should have been safe with him, not commit suicide in her teens. If a wife is not safe with her husband what is the point of marriage anyways. You would expect a man who wrote the screen play and directed a movie like Sadma to be more empathetic and sensitive in his real life. But apparently not.
