BW stars have too much riding on them
They're paid staggering amount of salary and a staggering amount is invested in their moviesThat might be the reasonThta's not the case with Malayalam movie industry I believe
There are always these rumors, always unsubstantiated of course 🤔 of bad behavior by actors, directors and others. It includes physical abuse too. Even famous actresses have not been exempt. One of the most famous cases was a Malayalam/Tamil actresses called Shobha who committed "suicide" at the age of 17 I think, but below 20 I am sure. She was rather prolific and a National award winner by then. Her husband was a very respected director called Balu Mahendra (the director of Sadma). Though her parents suspected foul play and did ask for help it still remains a mystery I think Silk Smitha is another case. Roshini another lesser known actress, sister of two famous actresses Nagma and Jyothika too committed suicide. For the first time to my knowledge such a big actor is arrested. Remains to be seen what is done, but this is a good thing IMO
Shobha's case gave rise to many controversies, but that was in 1980, those were the days film industry was not safe for women.
These days at least few actress show courage to raise voice against the injustice in the industry. Dileep's involvement in the case would have remained hidden if the actress were not persistent and strong, the media gave full support to the victim, moreover the actresses created their own association when the Actors association showed less interest in the case
