Star kids don't get enough credit for their success: Ranbir Kapoor

2 hours ago23 Commentsby Indicine Team2 min read

Nepotism has been the topic of debate in the last few months and Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, the grandson of Raj Kapoor, was one of the many actors to give his point of view.

The actor said star kids' don't get enough credit for their success in the industry which is true because the likes of Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and several other actors, have failed inspite of getting a platform and the chance to work under some of the biggest directors in the industry.

Ranbir talked about the infamous nepotism debate on comedy group All India Bakchod's AIB Podcast'.

Tanmay Bhatt introduced Ranbir by saying "Our guest today comes from the family of Prithvi Raj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karisma Kapoor

He then asked "My question to you Ranbir is do you believe nepotism exists in Bollywood?

Ranbir replied "I am a disarming' product of it while pointing to the slogan on his shirt, which read disarming'.

"Of course it exists. I'm sitting here next to you guys (because of nepotism). I have a simple take on nepotism: I believe that my great-grandfather worked hard to give his children a platform, and so on and so forth, Ranbir said.

"I became an actor because of my family, and because I got the opportunity, and the thing is you don't really get credit for your success because everyone just looks down upon your success he added.

Ranbir, one of the most talented actors that the industry has seen in the last few years, was recently seen in Jagga Jasoos'.

Right now there are only a few star kids
That can be considered successful
Most of them have seen failures the maximum

That's because for every talented, successful starkid, there's also an UNtalented, successful starkid.
How many untalented outsiders do you see in comparison?

This is so true for Alia. KJO might recommend her pachas baar but the ease with which she is able to most characters is not the result of nepotism but her own zeal to be better than the best.
It's not true for Ranbir though. He has been credited for everything he's done well. Even if not in numbers but he's managed to get critical acclaim most of the times.

But no one shops roles for rk.
He gets them, even if he's working with friends now like Anurag and ayan.
I doubt Alia ever had to go to directors and or make contacts for roles.
It's like kjo is her personal shopper for roles

Alia is 1 star kid who does not get credit coz people think it is all because of KJo. many star kids got movies on platter like Abhi, Uday, ARK but none could make a mark because they all are lazy. Alia works hard.
Ranbir on the other hand is praised for all his mediocre performances as if he has done something Oscar worthy. Now audience has clearly rejected him 😆 Directors and producers only remain.
