"Anika!" Shivaay called out loudly. He was holding a huge basket in his hand which was covered with pink velvet cloth.
"Kya hua Shivaay? Why're you screaming?" Anika came out with the rolling pin in her hand. She was busy making methi ke parathe for Shivaay who had started liking it a lot.
"Look what I've brought for you. Remember I told you that your birthday gift from my side was due? Tada. Here it is." He smiled proudly.
"Aww. I told you na that it wasn't necessary. I'm not used to getting gifts on my birthday so it's no big deal." She said happily.
"Come here, Anika. See who's here to meet you?" Shivaay encouraged her to come forward and have a look.
Anika eyed the basket suspiciously as she saw something move underneath the cloth.
"There's something moving in there Shivaay! Kiska bacha utha laye aap?" She asked shocked
"Bacha?! Who keeps a baby in a basket?" He said slightly irritated.
"Then what do you mean by someone's here to meet me?" She asked confused.
"If you come here and see your gift you'll know." He said all excited to see Anika's reaction.
She hesitantly went forward and lifted the cloth.
Seeing what was in the basket, all the colour from Anika's face was drained.
"Ahhh!" Anika's shrill voice echoed through the hallways of Oberoi Mansion. She ran back and stumbled upon the carpet and fell directly on the couch.
Shivaay almost dropped the basket he was holding seeing Anika's reaction.
"No no Anika. You don't say ahh now. When you see Chinki you say aww." Shivaay let out a nervous chuckle.
Shivaay had bought a cute little puppy for Anika. He had also named her Chinki keeping in mind how she had a history of naming things - Champa, Chamki, Chameli and what not.
"Chinki? Ahh, aww. I don't know all that. Shivaay, just take this pilla away from me!" Anika said quickly.
"Why? What happened? Here, gently touch Chinki. See she's so cute." Shivaay patted the little puppy.
"Shivaay please! Take this pilla away from me!" The puppy let out a soft bark.
"Ahh! Look how she's scolding me!" She lifted her legs up the sofa and hugged the pillow tight.
That is when Shivaay realised that Anika was scared of dogs.
"But Anika this is a puppy. It's so cute. It won't do anything to you." He took the puppy closer to Anika. Chinki was looking at her intently with her big brown eyes.
"Cute?! Look at how she's staring at me. It's like she's going to swallow me in one big bite." Anika bit her lip.
Shivaay started to say something when Chinki just hopped off that basket into Anika's lap.
Anika sat there frozen for a few moments not knowing what to do. She could hear Shivaay saying something about how Chinki likes me.
Anika and Chinki were having an intense eye lock. No one was ready to look away when Chinki lifted her paw to touch Anika. That's when Anika lost it. Before the puppy could touch her, or harm her in anyway, she jumped off the couch and started running around the hall Chinki right behind her. Shivaay stood there confused not knowing what to do.
Shivaay smiled seeing Anika like this. Seeing his Jhansi ki Rani scared of little Chinki.
He stood there rooted to the spot as Anika came running towards him and both of them fell flat on the floor with a thud.
Shivaay looked at Anika amused who was on top of him. Out of no where Chinki jumped on Anika's back and she stiffened at that.
Shivaay tried to get up but ended up being on top of her as Anika had clenched his shirt tightly, her eyes closed shut.
The little puppy came towards her and licked her face.
Looking at Anika's horror stricken face Shivaay let out a laugh. "See, I told you. She likes you."

Okay I have no idea what I ended up writing. It's so lame. 😆 My friend just got a puppy and I'm jealous. Hope you guys like it. 😳 All chamelis are welcome. 😳
