I liked this movie for its visual affects and gripping story line but coudn't help feeling that both Bhallaldeva and Mahendra Bahubali had similar personalities of male chauvanism. They could not stand strong women in their lives and tried their best either to break them down in some sadistic pleasure in case of Devasena or "turn them into a woman" as evident from Avantika. I would actually go out on a limb and call it a sexual assault.

Both women displayed strong independent attributes earlier on in their life but eventually their characters were reducted to nothing but damsels in distress.
Your thoughts?

Bhallaldev's case is different. Mahendra is not that. its not that he can't stand strong women. Avantika forgot her own self for revenge. while Devasena, Sivagami were strong but they have not changed their ownselves. Mahendra just tried to introduce Avantika to her true image. Being beautiful does not mean u r not strong.

Bhalladeva was the antagonist I am not expecting progressive actions from him. 😆. One way Indian movies depict villains is have them torture women. 🤔.
But Mahendra before the Pacha Bottesi (Telugu version) song (don't know what the song is in Hindi) virtually disrobes her, applies berry "makeup" on Avantika to prove she is a woman, hey why must she hide her warrior nature behind ugly clothes. 🤔. The idiotic woman of course is too taken in by her beauty and the man who showed it her by molesting her, falls head over heels.

That is why few mention Avantika as a strong woman in BB despite playing warrior.

Completely confused.
Mahendra Baahubali was not as well defined as Amarendra, and Devasena was way more badass than Avanthika. But I do not see the chauvinism.

Thanks. Good to see you too. Coming back to the true image why did he not accepted her for who she was? How did he know whats her true image and whats not? Maybe she wanted to be who she aspired to be? He disrobed her, held her under duress, forcibly smeared on her lips, as if he were trying to "tame" her.

Yes Amarendra Bahubali was an MCP of the highest order-
1. He was arrogant enough to assume Devasena will fall for his charm even if he disguises himself to be a common man who was a coward of the highest order
2. He was chauvinist enough to get hurt and get Devasena to nurse him just to show its the duty of women to take care of their better half
3. He was chauvinist enough to fight the enemies who invaded her kingdom cos he thought women are useless and incapable of defending themselves
4. He was chauvinist enough to let her walk on his shoulder cos he knew she is useless and cant cross the bridge otherwise
5. He was chauvinist enough to get his wife pregnant right after marriage 😲
6. He was chauvinist enough to find faults in his wife even when she slit the guy's fingers cos he tried to misbehave with her and had to correct her by saying you should have cut his head instead
7. Finally he was chauvinist enough to run away and save his uncle when his wife was going through labour pain

So yes, I agree with your analysis 😛

I know I was rooting for her in the second part but in my opinion they completely bulldozed her character as that once warrior princess who took on armies on her own.
