Sleep was all she wanted and somehow it wasn't really possible to doze off to her dreams when she was feeling so hot. How come suddenly she was feeling this hot? The AC was turned on and after a long struggle with the curtains she had made sure not even a slightest ray of sun would enter. After fidgeting in the bed for some minutes, Sanskruti shot her eyes open and almost screamed at the sight in front of hers. There she was greeted by the son of Sun himself.
Sanskruti found Karn looking fondly around her room. It wasn't the first time he was here but every time he seemed curious as anything. Today he was staring at her laptop as though even the sight of it could be nothing more than danger. Though Karn had made peace with all the new funny looking appliances human had invented he didn't really go well with him. The first time he saw TV, he tried to challenge it with his sword thinking it was an illusion the enemies created and that they operated from inside the black box. Sanskruti chuckled remembering that incident and Karn turned around alarmed but relaxed after seeing it was just his friend from Earth.
"What are you doing here Karn?" She asked after finishing her round of laughter which didn't seem so pleasing to her friend.
"Well. I was really bored in the heaven, you know it's been really bland around there after Kaliyug when Pandavs and Karauvs finally decided to stop fighting and behave like good brothers. They don't fight and they don't stop cooing each other! For the sake of god, I have had enough so I thought about, you know taking a little break and coming here and see what you Kaliyugs are up to." He scoffed the word 'Kaliyugs' as if we were nothing but a infectious disease.
"Okay then, I will change and then we can head out somewhere." Karn grinned at that until Sanskruti continued on," and till I come back from the shower, you wouldn't challenge anything into a battle."
"It was one time. One single time."
...
After a round of arguing where to go and what to do, Karn and Sanskruti decided to go to the fair. The colourful crowd, the noise, the laughter, the cries of children, everything fascinated Karn.
The day went well except for the times when Karn freaked out looking at the roller costers thinking it was the new way of people trying to suicide. And when they went to one of the play booth where they were to hit the target with a gun for the prize, Karn again freaked out. He apparently didn't know that they were the modern austras and kept on rambling how stupid they were and how Kaliyug human didn't know anything about weapons. But once he used it, he promised to take some back to heaven just in case Pandavs and Kauravs were back to fighting, he would be ready.
The cotton candy was another surprise for Karn. He couldn't stop complaining on how they were the most idiotic thing anyone created. What was the use of savouring them if they were to disappear within seconds.
Well the day went pretty good. There were times when people stared at Karn for his dress up but then again they concluded that he was part of comedy skit. If only they knew, if only. At the end of day, Karn was done ranting about the Kaliyug and the style do living and Sanskruti was more than tired.
And now they ended up in Sanskruti favourite restaurant to dine. She had protested but Karn was adamant to taste the Kaliyug food. The dinner included Sanskruti's favourites. Just as she was about to ask for the bill, a waiter came in with a birthday cake!
He set in front of Sanskruti and then he and other waiters started singing the birthday song. Sanskruti was left surprised and amazed at the end.
Karn cleared his throat before saying," so how do you Kaliyugis say it? Oh right! Happy birthday Sanskruti!"
She couldn't help with grin at her friend. He gifted which seemed priceless to her. At the end of the night Sanskruti decided that this was her best birthday!
