With TV liberally showcasing the reality of people onscreen, we begin to wonder if there are boundaries to be considered. A remark on similar lines was made by Shoojit Sircar, the director of popular Bollywood film Piku starring Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan.

In a twitter post, the director aired his opinion about the effects on children who are exposed to the glare of cameras at a tender age.

Shoojit Sircar @ShoojitSircar

Humble request to authorities to urgently ban all reality shows involving children.it's actually destroying them emotionally & their purity.

He wrote an open request to authorities urging them to place a ban on TV reality shows that involve children.

Sa Re Ga ma Pa Li'l Champs 2017, Sabse Bada Kalakar, India's Best Dramebaaz and Super Dancer are a few reality shows that gained quite a bit of popularity with viewers. We wonder if the director is pointing out to any current shows.

Chalo koi toh hai🤔 who is atleast thinking on how these reality shows affects the kids ..There talent gets attention but for trps they r made to say dialogs beyond their age ,then show gets extended and their schooling is affected..
But is banning the only solution 🤔,singers like shreya, sunidhi;good actors like karthikeya malaviye were discovered by these shows ..
Maybe stricter guidelines would work better-limit on shooting hours, more sensitive creatives who decide kids shows content and also not allowing unnecessary extensions for srgmp which is totally unfair to the kids

Very well said. There is always 2 sides to a coin. Agreed it's exhausting for kids but there is also the argument that some kids are genuinely that aware and mature for their age. And giving a platform for these kids is a great way to channel, nourish and expose their talent which should be a good thing. But again, maybe he knows that the channels won't ever allow a sensible format for these reality shows, these days, and so the best thing is to just ban them.
I'm not sure if he was directing towards this show in particular. Isn't there another kids drama show going on?

Some kids are mature way beyond their age - 🤔like jassu who looks after his family at this tender age will be more mature than others, the exposure the show brings will improve his financial situation-can we ban it saying its child labour, nope, for some its a stage to display talent , for others a means to earn so as to support their family ...
I think shoojit sarkar has genuine concerns but realistically even he may not be expecting any ban ..He probably raised the issue to get more people to discuss this issue ,🤔more viewers concerns to get the channels attention for stricter rules and self monitoring on these reality shows..
yes, there are other shows like sabse bada kalakar(sony),chote miya on colors...color has show called shani were the main lead is young karthikeya who was in zee's indias best dramebaaz show a few years back..that reality show did showcase his amazing acting skills👍🏼 and now he gets to be the lead in a daily series ,getting good trps too..

I couldn't agree more. These stupid reality show are ruining kids lives. They go through so much emotionally. I really hate what Jayas's parents and zee tv is doing to him. I forward his part. I can't stand him anymore, he should be thrown out can't sing.

During Shreya and Sunidhi's time, singing reality shows were pure music !! Like the old days of saregama are gold !! No one knew this show would someday make a mockery of itself like this 👎🏼

Yes there won't be a ban but they need to have certain strict rules.. Like the duration of such shows so that kids' studies are not affected.. Someone said there needs to be censor board for these shows!! They cannot show whatever they like, the way they are editing Lil champs these days is cringeworthy 🤢

I saw the counter argument too.. Indeed they give great talents but the duration of the show matters.. I think no reality show goes beyond 3 months 🤔 even Bigg Boss is for 3 to 3 n half months.. But such neverending reality show esp for kids should really be voiced out !!

yeah, absolutely right ,this extension is the worst thing ever.. the parents must have joined thinking it was 3 months then midway the channel changes the time frame, all their planning would have gone haywire,ek toh homesick tired kids, then their jobs and all-but unfairly zee has to hold on to trp topping kids ..

😉imagine 2 weeks wimbledon getting 1 week extensions for trps😛...close to finale try telling federer or nadal,"bhai,🤪 wait one more week, we r getting u more challengers🤪 "
