Vijay Singh was rushing towards the entrance of the main palace, the guards stopped him.

"You're not allowed to enter right now Vijay Singh. One of them told. "The ceremony has started and all the royal members are there; the staffs are not allowed. Wait there... He showed him the place allocated for the staffs and other invitees.

"But... Vijay looked desperate. "I really need to talk to Kunwarsa right now. It's the matter of the security of the kingdom. Let me get in!

Both the gate-keepers looked at each other confusedly. "Can't you listen, let me get in! Vijay Singh ordered.

"Please wait for some time; the order is from Maharaj... how can we ignore it? One of the guards pleaded.

"My foot!!!! Vijay bit his lips to stop himself from using further abusive language. "Cannot you understand the seriousness of the matter???

"Cool down cool down... The gate-keeper tried to cool him. "I...I can understand... But if Kunwarsa is busy in rituals then how will you talk to him! Rather... rather you can talk with any other general.

"Don't teach me!! Vijay thrashed his anger on the poor guard. Though the guard has not told anything wrong, but how will Vijay say that he can't discuss this matter with any other person other than Kunwar Sujamal. This is the matter of the honour of the princess.

"Sorry, Vijay Singh... You cannot enter, but it's only matter of some moments; you can wait,

"But will the danger wait? Vijay sighed and turned back. And he was rather shocked to see Kunwar Maan Singh behind him.

"What happened Vijay Singh? Kunwar Maan asked.

Vijay thought for a while. At a very young age Maan Singh holds a responsible post in the army of Amer. He is very skilled, efficient, intelligent and understanding. What if Vijay tells him everything? It will not harm the dignity of princess by any cost.

Vijay took breath and elaborated everything... how they find injured Chandrajeet in the temple, how princess Jodha came up as his rescuer and decided to treat him outside the fort, how she is still helping him with foods and water... only he omitted the part of her night-meets with him, as he did not want anyone to put any question mark on the chasteness of his princess. "I was watching him from day one. However, he did not look harmful to me. But today I saw a rider of a black horse to pass a message to him. It looked very fishy to me. I... I also tried to follow him but I lost him midway... And to much of my surprise, I found the man was heading towards Amer only! Vijay looked worried. "I can't forgive myself! How I failed to follow him! I am damn sure that he is right from our state and helping that man out... A big mess is going on Kunwarsa...

"Have you seen anything more about that rider? Maan asked in a cold tone.

"No Kunwarsa. But I saw him taking different route of Amer fort, looks like he knows a lot about the fort and the place...

"Nice! Maan frowned and got silent for a while. Vijay became more anxious. "Kunwarsa... he asked in an excited tone.

"Vijay Singh, I think before coming to any conclusion, we should investigate further. Don't worry, from now I am taking the charge of that strange person. No need to tell anything to Kakasa. Maan told with an authority in voice.

"But Kunwarsa I think we should arrest that person to know the truth...

"No we can't. The in-laws of Jodha Buasa are here, if any chaos about this strange man takes place now, and by any chance the name of Buasa comes out in these, her respect will be at stake. Maan told. "I believe I will be handling this thing enough, so I don't want anyone to have tension in this happy time. Don't worry, I will take care of this matter.

There was something in Maan's voice which compelled Vijay not to move further. But he was not at all assured. He has no doubt in Maan's smartness and capabilities, but still, he is a child, he is nave in this matters. Moreover, Vijay works under Sujamal. It's his responsibility to report Sujamal when anything uncanny takes place. But here the honour of the princess is attached. However, he decided to keep a watch more cautiously.

Maan slowly walked to the ceremony hall where the rituals were taking place. His eyes met with Jodha's fake happy smile. He became unmindful. He recalled Vijay Singh's words. Vijay's fear is baseless, as the rider whom he has detected is none other than Maan. However, now Maan got to see a very hazy figure of the story from the mist hearing everything from Vijay Singh. Though many questions are still unknown, still they have no proof that the man is actually an enemy of Amer. So by now there is no need to get him arrested. Moreover, if anyone gets to know about Jodha's involvement here by any chance, it will badly tell upon her future! And Maan will never let it to happen! Never!

At last the ceremony was over...

Jodha was resting in her room closing her eyes. The storm inside her heart is stopped now, instead of that an uncanny silence has covered her heart. Jodha herself does not know what is happening with her; only she can feel that someone is slowly dragging her towards the darkness in every moment. And she doesn't know how to get out of this loop...

"Kunwari Sa!

Jodha opened her eyes... "Moti?

"Your head is paining, isn't it? Moti sat beside her. "May I press your head?

"No. Jodha got up and put her palm on Moti's lap. "I am feeling very sad Moti! I don't know what to do!

"Me too! You are going to leave us within some days... We will miss you so much!! Moti's voice wet with tears. Both of them sat steel for some times.

"Don't worry Kunwari Sa! Moti sighed with a smile after a while. "I believe Suryabaan Ji will love you so much that you will be forgetting all very soon.

"Are you sure? Jodha smiled sadly. "But I fear Moti. If the pillar of love is built without mixing the right proportion of respect and trust it may break down any day. I am afraid, Moti!

"Why Kunwari Sa! Is Suryabaan Singh so bad that...

Perhaps Jodha did not hear. She went on, as if she was talking to herself. "I am doing wrong! I am doing mistake. It's a sin to give own hand to someone while placing someone else in heart. I am committing that sin! I am deceiving everyone including me...

"Kunwari Sa? Moti shook Jodha! "What has happened? Tell me what are you hiding??

Jodha gulped. She could not tell anything to her best friend. But Moti can understand her unspoken words...

"Who is the man whom you meet every night, Kunwari Sa? She asked in an almost muted tone...

Jodha smiled sarcastically this time. "Does it matter at all? Whoever is he, he cannot belong to Jodha Bai!

"Kunwari Sa!!! Moti controlled herself hard. "Kunwari Sa whatever may happen, don't let your and your clan's honour to get blotted ever!

"I know Moti! I will not let anyone to point a finger on my clan ever! Jodha sighed. "But... how will I face my future after marriage!

"Everything will be alright after you get married, Kunwari Sa! Moti hugged her tightly with a burden of tension loaded in her mind.

"I too pray for the same Moti! Jodha broke the hug as a maid was seeking her attention.

"Tell, Leela! Jodha asked arranging her clothes.

"A letter from Suryabaan Singh Kunwari Sa! The girl winked in a jolly manner... "Look!

With a sheer surprise, Jodha opened the folded paper handed to her. This letter is not a love-letter like that day, rather is an argent message... "If possible please meet me tonight near the garden. I have something important to discuss with you...

Jodha folded the letter again. Though she did not like the tone of the letter much, but it was something soothing to see that her to-be-husband wants to discuss something with her, and the letter is much practical instead of that artificial one. But why Suryabaan wants to meet her?

While passing through the corridor, Jodha heard the heated argument in the conference room of the palace. She could not stop herself from peeping in.

A short and casual conference was held between the family of Amer and Bhangarh after the dinner was over. The members of the royal families were talking about state affairs after a nice talk. Jodha heard her future father-in-law shouting loudly in the heat of argument. Probably this argument is with her Sujamal Bhaisa.

"I don't know what you are telling Kunwar! I accepted this relation only on condition that you will be beside us in our every war. But now in the case of our enmity with Bharatpur you are giving excuse of internal political affairs? This is absolutely not done Maharaj, absolutely not done.

"We understand Maharaj. Sujamal tried to explain in a mild tone. "But please think about us too. We have strong enmity from Ajabgarh, and Bharatpur, who is the foe of Ajabgarh, usually works as a shield of us against it. If we take up arms against Bharatpur, our situation against Ajabgarh will worsen further.

"Sujamal is right Maharaj. Bhagwant Das tried to pursue. "Instead of war if we arrange for a negotiation where your conveniences will be taken care, won't it be better?

"Negotiation with Bharatpur? The king of Bhangarh smirked. "Please Kunwar, at least don't tell a Rajput blood to forget the vengeance he is carrying by blood. Bharatpur is our old enemy, we can do everything but to sit in negotiation with them!

"But there was no mention of Bharatpur when you accepted the proposal of marriage... Sujamal was going to tell, but Bhagwant Das pinched him to stop. "Being a Rajput I can understand how much this vengeance is important for you, Maharaj, but I request you to think once more in cool head before coming to any conclusion, please... And we are always here to help you with our soldiers, so don't ever think that we will not keep our promise! He told.

"Alright, I will think once more about the date of the war, but don't request me to negotiate. The king grunted and then looked at Bharmal. "I don't think that there is any reason of fearing, Maharaj Bharmal. Bhangarh and Amer are together now. And I think we will easily defeat both Ajabgarh and Bharatpur together. After that we can concentrate on other enemies...

Jodha stopped herself from indulging in very difficultly. God! When these poor kings will understand that now they need to be united rather fighting against each-other? When will they see that the bigger enemies are knocking at the door? Why are they losing their power and army in these silly fights when a big war is going to come up very soon?

The discussions about these inter-state fights were being continued, while Jodha felt helpless and angry at the same time. She was hearing everything mum, but when the king of Bhangarh started showing off the power of his great army and how he will destroy the enemy lands with that, she could not stop herself anymore. She pulled the veil down, stood behind the curtain of the hall, and told the guard to call Bhagwant Das.

"Pardon, Majesty... Kunwar Bhagwant Das is being called by Princess Jodha Bai. She is waiting behind the curtain.

Bhagwant Das moved towards the curtain in hurry; apart from him everyone witnessed the change of expression in the face of the king of Bhangarh.

"What Jodha? Any problem? Bhagwant Das whispered to Jodha behind curtain.

"Not exactly Bhaisa... I overheard the conversation so... Jodha took breath. "Bhaisa, does the king know that we have been already attacked by Mughal Barbarians? And the Mughal army has been seen very near of our border areas?

"Of course he does, Jodha! And please, don't create a scene now, and go! Bhagwant Das told a bit impatiently. "Don't give your suggestion to your father-in-law at least; here your brothers and father are there to hear them!

"I am going Bhaisa! Jodha whispered again. "But I felt now the war between states will not be a good choice. Rather first the Mughal attacks should be controlled... So at least raise that topic once so that it can be thought later?

"Okay okay now you go! Bhagwant Das hurried to send her as he got the order from the angry and worries glare of his father. But before Jodha could leave, the sarcastic smirk of the king of Bhangarh stuck her path.

"Is it your daughter, Maharaj Bharmal?

"Yes Rajasa. Your daughter-in-law, Rajkunwari Jodha Bai. Sujamal answered instead of Bharmal with a smile. "She is quite sound about political affairs, so must be...

"Oh nice! The aged man laughed ugly. "I didn't know that the kingdom of Amer is actually running under the supervision of a young girl! Very nice!

"No no you are getting wrong! Nothing like that RajaSa... Bharmal told in utter hurry. "These are just mere time-pass for my daughter, that's it. She is not directly related with system anyhow...

"Well, so what great suggestion did she give to you, Kunwar Bhagwant Das? The king held the sarcasm in his lips.

"Nothing much... just... Bhagwant Das was stammering but Sujamal pressed his hand to tell him the truth. So he told out. "She thinks before attacking to these small states, we should rather gather our forces for defence against Mughal army... so...

"So she often gives you suggestions like this? The king interrupted.

"Yes. She is rather very sound in political strategies. Sujamal told with a slight proud stubbornness in his voice. Bharmal sighed seeing the foolishness of his son and nephew.

"Well, Maharaj Bharmal, it seems you pamper your daughter a lot?

"Yes she is a lovely girl... she thinks for everyone... King Bharmal started listing out the qualities of his daughter desperately. The king smiled.

"She is really a lovely girl. Very beautiful and dignified, perfect for being a queen... And I believe from heart that a woman with beauty like Goddess always has the heart of the Goddess. Same goes for your daughter. He told holding the sarcasm intact in his regal eyes. "But it will be good for us if she thinks more for her own family and relatives rather than state affairs... You know we men are there to take decisions about politics, we need no woman for that!

None tell any word. Jodha's head burnt out of rage. And to add ghee in that fire the king of Bhangarh warned- "Bharmal Ji, if possible please teach your daughter, that women look better in inner palace rather than in the war-field and court. She is intelligent, she will understand. And also... He stopped to take breath. "In our Bhangarh women does not poke their nose in any state-affairs dealt by the men!

"Sorry I didn't know it Maharaj! Actually in our Amer women are given almost equal rights of a man, and we daughters often enjoy the same importance in every field as a son. In this case our Amer is much pragmatic. Not only this, taking a little momentary break, the voice from behind the curtain continued- "I am sure one day Bhangarh will also come forward in this case.

This much audacity was enough for the father of the groom to cancel the wedding instantly. In rage the king got up from seat and started fussing like wild buffalo. The royal members of Amer family stood out in tension. Bharmal only left to join hand in front of him. "Cool down Maharaj please! My daughter is young, she does not know when to say what... please...

"You are requesting me to stay cool even after such a big insult??? The king shouted.

"Maharaj, my sister's intension was not to hurt you; she was only trying to defend herself... Sujamal said, his voice clearly reflecting the disgust.

"Maybe, but I do not expect such a shameless behaviour from my daughter-in-law... I am breaking the marriage at once!!

"NO NO!! Bharmal almost cried. "The engagement is already done. If the marriage breaks now, my daughter's future will destroy!

"Maharaj, Jodha is also like your daughter. Please forgive her as a father! Bhagwant Das tried to butter him. But the king was adamant, fussing in anger.

Jodha was stunned behind the curtain! First of all she did not even think that this little issue will become such big. When she told all these she was in emotional flow. Now she understood what grave mistake she has done. Her father-in-law might tell anything against her, she is expected to be quiet! The new bride is not supposed to talk directly with father-in-law, that too in such a rough tone! Why the hell she opened her mouth! Why the hell she came here! Why! Why!

The slap she was willing to give herself suddenly was thrashed on her face. Her mother, queen Mainavati had come hearing everything from the servants, seeing all these she could not control and started slapping Jodha one by one without giving her a small scope of defence. "Idiot! Witch! Why don't you die?? If the wedding breaks in this stage then who will marry you? The curses of mother started showering on her. Jodha's eyes flooded with tears, but her voice was choked.

"Kakisa! Kakisa please what are you doing?? Sujamal came behind the curtain as her rescuer. "Already everything is mingled, now don't mess it up further please! He pleaded. "Jodha, you go to your room, I will fix everything!

Jodha moved forward. Not towards her room. She drew the curtain and entered into the main hall. The veil had covered her whole face, none was able to see her face, but the composed dignity of a royal was reflected from her whole structure. She passed every worried family member, and directly stood in front of the king of Bhangarh.

"You are like my father, Your Highness! I can never think to insult you. Perhaps it is my foolish tongue who misinterpreted what I wanted to tell. I am immature, I am foolish, I am yet to learn many things from life! Will not the great king of Rajputana, who is known as the protector of justice in his kingdom, forgive a foolish girl who is like his daughter? She uttered in a queenly moderated tone, her voice did not shiver a bit.

The king stopped shouting and calmed down.

"Your Highness, I am going to be a part of your family; your shelter will be my only address, the honour of your clan will be my only ornament. If I do anything wrong you have every right to punish me, and I will accept that punishment from my heart. But please don't put the honour of my family and the security of our subjects at stake to punish me... You are great, forgiving is another name of greatness... Forgive me for my audacity! Jodha continued further. There was such a majestic dignity in her apology that the king could not raise his voice again...

"Okay... I don't want to create scene in this happy time... After all this is the first marriage of my son and he has a lot of expectations from this marriage. He told half-heartedly and came closer to Jodha. "I am here to welcome you as Goddess Lakshmi in my house. I am not here to punish you. Don't repeat these further...

Exhaling a light sigh, Jodha touched the feet of her to-be-father-in-law. She was feeling someone is slashing her soul with a sharp dagger... Then she picked up her eyes. She could see the face of Suryabaan near from behind her transparent veil. He was there! He was a mute spectator when his father was warning to break the marriage! And he is mute even now, only the slight touch of anger is visible in his eyes... So Suryabaan Singh was as much affected as his father and was eager to break the marriage at once to show the girl her place along with the whole state!

Jodha came out of the room in very slow pace. Her legs were trembling. She was feeling exhausted. Her voice was choking.

Why there is such a vast difference in dream and reality!!

"Kunwarsa?

Suryabaan Singh looked back. Jodha Bai was standing behind him, beside the artificial lake of the palace. She is wearing the same lahenga of the evening, only no ornaments are there. There is no charm in her voice, she is looking extremely tired.

"Rajkunwari... Suryabaan came closer. "I have something to talk with you... And his voice was serious.

"Before that I again express my heartfelt apology to you, Kunwarsa! Jodha uttered mechanically. "What I did, I should not have done!

Suryabaan was silent for a moment. Then he came back to normal flow. "Listen Kunwarisa. In our family my father's decision is ultimate unlike your Amer. None dares to talk to my father this way... So I will expect...

"I hope what you are telling will be true. Suryabaan told very seriously. "However, if my father knows anything about this wantonness of his new daughter-in-law...

"What did you say??

The fire of Jodha's eyes whipped Suryabaan strongly and he stopped at once... "No... I mean... I meant...

"Kunwar Sa... Jodha removed her eyes. "If your talks are over, may I go now? I am feeling extremely tired and I am sure you too.

"Yes yes... Let me accompany you...

Jodha raised her hand. "No need. I will go alone. Good Night Kunwar Suryabaan!

Coming at the gate of the inner palace, Jodha sighed deeply. The feeling of repugnance was strangulating her from inside.

Again the sparkle of light flashed in the sky. Jodha looked at the sky. The storm is coming! A devastating storm will come...

Why not this storm floods away everything tonight??
