Bollywood has made quite a few films on homosexuality some of them showing it in a comic side while some like Aligarh and My brother nikhil actually had the homosexuality as a main issue.
My question here is that will bollywood every start making LGBTQ Central films although hollywood is also not much progressive in this matter but isn't it time that we start addressing something that is still a ongoing debate in India and not to forget section 377 of IPC.

And another question that I wanna ask is will the mainstream directors and producers take the step to make LGBTQ films and will the mainstream actors do them?

The topic is not to offense anyone, its just something on which I was thinking from a very long time!

Would love to hear the members view on this😳

In so called progressive USA it has taken decades for LGBTQ for main streaming. Even now there are pockets especially in the South where that is not accepted. It took years. So too it will happen in India.

I remember watching a trailer based on Romeo and Juliet, but had gay protagonists - don't remember the title, and don't know the fate of that movie.

I have no opinion of this.. but I hope the portrayal of LGBTQs in movies is not always done in a comical light.. We have a transgender celeb - Bobby Darling, I've always been curious about her.. perhaps make a movie on her? Or a movie on social problems of the hijda community??

Why not make serious LGBTQ characters who show straight peeps in a comical light :p ...ijs.

I just dont like movies that aren't sincere in their script... like movies that are overly theatrical on problems of LGBTQ community, or too pretentious and end up focusing more on the sexual aspects rather than showing the characters as a 'total' human they are... the movie should be casual in approach, just like showing any other person rather than the dramatic condescending undertones that such movies usually take up..

The US as a whole is yet to warm up to the LGBTQ community. Was just watching a docu-film the other day - Apparently gay married people are likely to get fired from their jobs for just being who they are. Not to mention they are quite frequently denied rented apartments and other facilities as well. It's difficult for them too to affirm equality for the community especially when the right wing conservatives are continuously promoting against it. As someone pointed out HW itself is not yet comfortable with mainstream films with LGBTQ subjects! This part of the world will have to wait years before such openness comes through!

I'd want a competent director to make a movie or web-series on these issues. If they can cast Shraddha, Alia, Anushka, Sonam, Deepika, etc. in these roles, or a lesbo drama, it would truly be path-breaking.

Reema, KJo, Gauri Shinde, Shoojit, Imtiaz, Madhur, etc. would excel in this genre.

In fact, Alia and Anushka in a lesbo-drama, with Sunny Leone in a role and Ranveer Singh as a tranny opposite Ranbir Kapoor would raise all sorts of hell.
