BOI has always undermined Aamir's success,even Dangal...It was Raj Kapoor's movies which opened intl market for Indian movies...the ones u have mentioned have been popular mostly amongst Indian diaspora...but Dangal has even gained popularity among non-Indian diaspora that too a big market which in itself has a very large audience...it was ranked at no 1 for 14 days in Chineese BO in it's run beating a no of HW movies including Marvel's GOGVol2 and more than 40 Chineese movies which is first time in 104 years for an Indian movie in Chineese BO,such feat has never been achieved by an Indian movie in any other country...In China HW movies have a strong foothold...19th Highest grosser of all time in China with the chances of ranking even higher...this years 2nd highest grosser till now...Originally posted by: Kareenafanatic

When HAHK opened the international market or a movie like MNIK did stupendous business overseas, it created waves all over. Even a movie like PRDP and its opening in the US created a new kind of exposure for Hindi films in America. In the case of Dangal and China, while it surely made Dangal the 5th highest grossing non-English movie of all time--it didn't create any market for Hindi movies in China for the future. Because of Dangal, another Hindi movie won't get an easy pass or the Chinese government won't give any special consideration to Hindi movies, nor would the audiences. That's how China rolls.
In China earlier,due to the quotas system only 2 movies were allowed...post Aamir's movies success there the no has increased to 4,the no might even increase after seeing the phenomenal success of an Indian movie...even with that release quota BW films have not been successful there except Aamir's movies...in many countries there r such quotas...it's not like all 1000 Indian movies r released in foreign countries even US,UK and UAE...the Chineese govt too is singing praises of this movie...3I,PK and now Dangal has managed to change the perception in China abt Indian movies that it's not only abt song and dance,we too make good content movies which has a wider appeal...
most of the major Indian movies r taken into consideration...This year Tubelight and BB2 were in contention for release there...The issues with Tubelight is abt it's subject maybe the Indo-China war backdrop acc to some articles...
