After Neil's marriage with Avni, he told Neela that he had bribed the pandit to perform incorrect rituals.

Why he did that when he was willingly getting married to Riya?

he wanted to get married to ria only to keep an eye on dayawanti and know more about her deeds...and hence he gave the pandit money to perform fake marriage..

he wanted to tell rhea about this later.

No actually he came to know that rhea ran away from the wedding .He was about to arrest Avni bt dere her heard dayawanti talking n then he realised that what dayawanti is actually .So to save himself rhea he decided to do fake marriage
