As it rained, Shivagami couldn't sleep. She walked round the room restlessly. It was past midnight and the rain increased in intensity every hour. Shivagami's restlessness grew along.
Baahu...!
She wondered what must he be doing right now, how must he be managing life in his ever so small mud hut. More than that, he had a pregnant woman along who was his wife.
Shivagami couldn't think more, neither could she do anything about things.
Why did you do this Baahu? My love for you will always remain the same, but so will my duty as a rajmaata. Why did you make me choose between the two?
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she sat down, tired both mentally and physically.
She knew, though she had always said she loved both her sons equally, she had loved Baahu a bit more. Shivagami closed her eyes tight. The spitter spatter of the rain pierced her soul.
Was she doing her duty only as a rajmata? Or was she, just like any other possessive mother feeling insecure of her favourite son's wife?
Shivagami stood up with a jerk as if afraid of her own thought. She started walking rounds again while thunder struck and tore the sky apart.
Baahubali was supposed to be the king of Maahishmati. He has broken million people's expectations. Still then, the common men of Maahishmati doesn't bear any grudge against him or his wife.
They have accepted them as their own part, their family, and worshipped them as gods.
Shivagami slowly walked towards the window. The sky as if was shedding its much awaited tears, and rebelling with thunders.
Baahubali stood for a woman's dignity. Whole of Mahishmathi stood for Baahubali and his woman. And she being his mother, stood only for rajdharm? Shivagami shut her eyes again. Would Mahishmathi not believe that she loved her own son more indeed and so made him the king by hook and crook? And even threw her foster son out of the palace? Would Mahishmathi ever forgive her? Most importantly can she ever forgive herself?
An immense lightning struck with thunder and Shivagami opened her eyes in horror to see a distant part of Mahishmathi catch fire due to the lightning. She was terrified. " Guaaards!! " , she wailed. They came running.
She couldn't speak but pointed to the fire. "That's a grassland rajmaata. Every time with heavy lightning, a part catches fire."
Shivagami uttered..." Baahu..."
" no one lives their rajmata. He lives on the other part. " The guard said pointing to a direction.
Shivagami stood beside the window for the rest of the night.

"Maa..."
Amarendra stood with a huge ear to ear smile at the door of his hut. Shivagami, stoned, got down the chariot. She didn't smile, neither looked at him.
" Devsena! "
She called looking past Amarendra.
Amarendra quickly went in and helped his wife out, who didn't know what was happening.
A crowd had already gathered and everyone stared anxiously. Amarendra helped her out to the verandah. Her steps stopped as soon as she caught a glimpse of Shivagami. An unknown fear gripped her as she held her husband with one hand, and placed the other on her belly as if protecting both from an unknown danger. Amarendra said, "maa came to meet you Devsena. "
Devsena uncertainly looked at her smiling husband and then at her stern mother-in-law who was staring at her with an expression she made nothing of.
" Devsena, " , Shivagami spoke. " I am not here to apologise as a rajmata because I believe I have done my duty perfectly. Neither am I here to forgive your husband because he did go overboard killing Sethupati. I am here, only as a mother who has come to take back her son, her daughter, and their child to where they rightfully belong. Not as the rajmata of Mahishmathi, but as the mother of Amarendra Bahubali, I don't order but request you return to my palace, be my daughter, my grandchild's mother, and the saviour of Mahishmathi. "
Devsena couldn't believe her ears. She looked at Amarendra who was smiling like a kid with tear filled eyes. He looked at devsena with all assurance in world and ran to fall on Shivagami's feet touching them. Shivagami stopped him midway, hugged him tight as tears ran down her cheeks. Devsena saw everything. Tears and smiles played through her face. Shivagami came forward to her. " I will help pack things for you. You know what Devasena? You could give up every of your material pleasure just for the sake of the best man of your life. And I couldn't understand what my people, the people of Mahishmathi actually want. I stuck to my vows which I took for their betterment, and they couldn't accept my vows. Why? Because it's not only about vows, it's about truth, it's about love. Come back daughter. The palace is mourning without you. "
The whole of Mahishmathi cried tears of joy.
