Dinner was ready and Geet served the food.. Sam entered the house and found everyone on dining table..

Sorry dadi I m little late..

Little? Dadi said in raised voice..Sam you left in the morning saying that you were going to meet your friend at the airport who was leaving today.. Did her flight leave at evening? Did not you have a sense of responsibility to call me or Maan to tell about your late coming?

Sam.. I know you must be feeling bad for yourself as you had no one to attend you after you wedding or did not get any attention as any newly wedded need to get But that doesn't mean that you will behave such irresponsible..Dadi's voice was stern this time

Sam tried to understand his intention but he was looking normal..

Come on Sam.. Join us..It's not written in any rule book that a wife should only cook for the family..A Husband or a guest too can do that..So me and Geet took the responsibility..Have a seat..He signalled her to join them and she joined

No..NOT AT ALL..Maan said in a very encouraging voice.. Infect I m very happy that you could enjoy your life today far away from an old and sick lady and a house who needs your attention..You can do that later. dadi and House are not going anywhere .. Now it's time for you to enjoy..and don't worry we too spent a very good time today.. We did not miss you like you did not miss us..

Geet and Dadi were looking at both of them..And could understand his anger too..

and Maan was thinking if that girl didn't have any self respect or was not trying to take his mocking gestures...

The dinner was silent.. Everyone had their own reason to be silent.. Geet and Maan were still trying out to come out of that awkwardness which they felt in Kitchen some time ago..Dadi was so much angry on Sam She wanted to told her about her responsibilities but Maan stopped her..Sam was silent as she wanted to run as soon as possible for two reasons..One she had lied today so was scared for her lie to come in front of everyone during their talks..second she was tired after staying out of the house for the whole day..

Food is very nice..Sam could not stop herself from praising as she was so much bore of eating out for full day..She felt good after having that homemade food

Geet cooked lunch to today .Dadi told her .. Today Cook was on leave so she took the responsibility as Maan was at Hospital..

Sam looked at them to know if they knew the truth?.She was scared for a while but she could see that no one knew that cook had called her in the morning.

It's good dadi that sister did that. Otherwise you could have problem. How would you have managed with heavy food?... I was not at home too...hai na? Thank u so much Sister ..

Sam thanked Geet but mentally she was dancing as she was thinking that she had fooled them easily..

Maan was shooting glared at her but he wanted to show dadi the real face of her DIL so he did not say a word to her. For him she did not exist neither in the house nor in his life..so it did not matter for him what she did and what not..

Dinner was over

Maan looked at dadi who was looking at Sam and then her eyes met with Maan and she lowered her gaze as if she was ashamed of herself. Sam did not even think of helping Geet or Maan

Maan looked at the dining table and then at Geet who had started to pick the dishes to keep back them in kitchen.

Geet tum rahne do..I will do..

Geet I said na...saying this he tried to take the plates from her but in that effort he kept his hand on her hand which was on plates..both pairs of eyes met one more time with each other and then he quickly pulled his hand murmuring a quick sorry to her..

He picked up the other dishes and went in to the kitchen .. Geet too followed him ..

It was morning and Maan Geet and dadi were ready to leave for the hospital for check up..

I m coming too... Sam joined

Maan-Are you sure?

And she nodded..(At night she told her mother about the great act she did but her mother scolded her and asked her to accompany them to hospital to cover the damage she had done)

They reached hospital and done with the check up..

Sister Geet you are not in your uniform?

Dr. Sharma ..It was my wish not to see any sign of hospital at home so I ordered her not to put the uniform..Did i do something wrong?

No ma'am as you wish..Dr Sharma had no objection

Dr. Sharma was quite happy with the progress

Dadi ji..you looks too good today..seems Dr. Khurana has taken a good care of you..

Awww.aisa hai .No problem..I know how to make you speak..and she started to tickle him and he was very sensitive to tickling and next moment he gave up as it was unbearable for him..

Dadi and Maan was grinning widely seeing their nautanki and Sam was like yawning to see them..Geet took him in her arms and turned.. she saw dadi there and smiled

She called all the kids near them.. bachhon meet the family of Dr.Khurana.. she is his dadi and she is his wife..chalo sab namastey karo dadi ko..and kids wished them in unison-Namastey dadi ji

Namaste..namaste..dadi was so amazed to see the liking of the kids towards Geet and she understood it well that it was Geet who worked as a magician for everyone attracting them towards her

Sachhi?? the little boy was so excited to hear that he kissed her hard on her cheek..and this forced Maan to frown a little at that boy and he did not know why ..and then he shook his head jerking those thoughts from his mind and scolded it too-shut up Maan..he is just a kid..

She talked to the kids for few minutes and took their leave doing the promise of coming back on next day..

And Geet smiled ..yeah.. because I don't scold them like other sisters do when they are irritated of their mischievousness

They were returning and the staff who was passing by there was wishing Maan and Geet too was wishing her seniors as well as fellow nurses too..

Sister Geettt... they heard a voice and everyone looked there..

They saw a nurse coming to them almost running..

And she moved outside of the hospital.. Maan and dadi were worried seeing that but Sam was unaffected of anything..For her Geet was just a nurse who was there to take care of dadi and was doing her duty..

Maan was driving the car and Sam was in passenger seat..Geet and dadi were on the back seat.. Geet was looking out of the window silently.. She was still not normal..

Geet ..dadi put her hand on her shoulder and Geet jumped like if she had seen some ghost..

Kya hua Geet..itni ghabraayi hui kyun ho?

And Geet shook her head nervously..k..kuchh nahin

Geet hame nahin bataaogi? Yesterday you were saying they we think of you as family.. it seems that you don't think like that about us..

Geet lowered her head.. dadi one more time called her..Geeettt..

And she murmured-I m scared...I m scared of water..water when it's in pool lake river or sea..

He started to twist the corner of her dupatta with her both hands

What.everyone was shocked to know..

You are cared of water? But why?

How foolish.. Sam reacted..You are scared of water..you know I m state level swimmer.. college ki taraf se state ko represent kiya hai maine..it's too much fun to play with water

Because..because I have seen water with my eyes taking the life of innocent people when i was very small

She was having tears in her eyes as if she could see something happening in front of her eyes..

Kya hua tha Geet? Dadi asked in a very soft voice ..she held her hand so that her fear could reduce from her eyes and gave strokes on her hand to feel her calm..

..Maan was driving so he could not see back but her ears were all on the talks of Geet and dadi

Geet sat silently throughout the drive.. Dadi kept looking at her every now and then..They reached home and dadi asked Geet to sat near her..

She sat but her face was still telling that she was scared badly..

Dadi asked Sam to bring water to which Sam shrugged her shoulder and went to bring water..she came back and dadi gave water to Geet she drank a little and kept it aside..

Ab bolo Geet..kya hua tha..ho sakta hai tumhaara darr kuchh kam ho jaaye share karne se.. she stroked her hair with her hand and Geet looked at her and she blinked her eyes to go ahead..

When I was five I went to Nainital with my parents.. I was sitting in the balcony of the hotel room maa papa were sleeping at that time ..and I did not want to sleep so I was there in the balcony to enjoy the outside scenes...the hotel was on the main road so we could clearly see the lake from there..and I loved to see the boats floating in the water from my balcony. there was a family in front of me who was enjoying the boating..they had a girl of my age with them who was so much excited to be in the boat and I was enjoying to see her.. I could feel the excitement of that girl as I too was reacting in the same way when we were doing boating.I could clearly remember my experience of being in a boat in the middle of water

Suddenly everything started to fly with air. There was a strong wind storm and the temporary shops on the side of the lake were broken due to the force of the wind. ...and that family who was in the boat could not control their boat and it turned down in the water..My eyes were on those people who were throwing their hands to come out of the water but they could not as they were almost in the middle of the lake.. For that moment I even lost my voice seeing them like that.. then saw their moments getting slow...till the divers could reach them they all had died. That little girl who was laughing and enjoying few minutes ago was dead.. Their bodies were floating over the water..I could not make sound and I fainted there.. When I was awake I could not speak a word.. I took long time to get my voice back.. Since then whenever I saw even a small pool of water I feel that it's pulling me towards itself and as if it wants to kill me like it killed that little girl... I.. I don't know but I tried a lot but could not get rid of this fear..

Her lips were trembling as she finished her experience.. Her body was shivering due to fear.. she was sweating..

Geet calm down beta.. dadi took her in her embrace and Geet hugged her like a baby..as if someone was going to snatch her to kill...Maan was so much sad seeing her like this..He could not believe that Geet who was capable to make anyone smile with her smile or sweet talks could hold so much fear in her heart.. His heart ached to take her in his arms to make her calm and happy..

He so much wanted to tell her that he was there to save her from anyone but could not do that as he did not have that right on her..He felt so much helpless at that moment..

Don't you think that this is over reaction sister?...I mean kisi ek ke saath haadsa hua to iska matlab ye to nahin na ki sab ke saath hoga..Sam opened her Big mouth

Sam..dadi almost scolded her..

She was a kid that time..and whatever they take on their heart is imprinted for their whole life..It's very hard to make them believe to forget that incident..Dadi told her..

Sam made a face...and went saying ..I don't agree to you dadi..

Geet was sitting quietly .. She hadn't uttered a word after finishing her story..

Geet..Maan called her softly..and she looked at him..

Are you ok?..and she nodded lowering her head..

And she realised that she could not sit like that ..She was at duty.. she excused herself and went in the washroom..washed her face and came back.

Dadi and Maan looked at her..

Umm..I m fine sir.. don't worry..

Are you sure?

And she shook her head in acceptance..

He looked in to the watch and said-I need to go ..I m already late for the hospital..

And he went not before looking at Geet who was still not comfortable..but he knew she was a strong girl and will handle herself...

Geet looked at dadi and smiled.. Sorry Ma'am ..I made all of you tensed ..

No Geet .. it's not like that.. but it was an scary experience for a girl of 5 years..

Ji... and she afterward tried to behave normal..Sam spent her day in her room and visited dadi only once when she came down for lunch.. Maanso many times tried to call Geet but every time he gave up..

Maan was little worried for Geet..he wanted to know if she was fine or not..and finally he dialled dadi and asked about Geet and dadi told him that she was better now and trying to be normal.. he did not need to be worried ..

Dadi could clearly see his concern for Geet..

Cook was back as her son was in better state but dadi forgot to ask anything about the last days leave because of Geet's condition..

The day went normal after that for all.. Next morning Geet was ready to leave

She was going directly to Hospital as she was having her morning duty. So Maan thought to take her with him as he too was going to hospital..

Dadi was emotional as she knew the truth now.. She could see a sadness in Maan and Geet's eyes too but everyone was holding themselves for other..

And Sam flipped an intelligent question towards Geet...Sister How much salary you take at hospital? Everyone looked at her..

What do you mean Sam?..Maan asked her doubtfully..

Wo I was thinking that Why don't we hire her personally for us..

Everyone was shocked Sam looked at them and again said.. I mean she took care of dadi well and dadi likes her..now I can't be sitting at home 24 hrs so she can look after dadi and can manage Kitchen too.. I liked her food very much and we can hire her for more salary than she fetches from hospital..

She looked at all with a twinkle in her eyes but saw only anger in Maan and dadi's eyes and wetness in Geet's eyes..

Sammm.. This time both dadi and Maan shouted at her..

And she looked at them baffled..

Have you lost your mind Sam?..bolne se pahle kuchh sochti bhi ho ya nahin ? ya dimag apna saat me leke chalti hi nahin ho...Maan yelled at her and looked at Geet ...hurt was clearly visible in her eyes. She looked another side to hide her tears..

Dadi gave shooting glares to Sam but then she looked at Geet who was trying hard to control her tears..

Geet ..She called her

I think Sam is right..And Maan was horrified to hear dadi//Geet too looking at her stunned

Dadi stopped him by her hand..

I said true.. From today our relation of a nurse and a patient is over.. I will never need her anymore as my nurse..

Geet looked at her with blurred eyes..Pain was clearly visible in them..

Because we are going to start a new relation from right now.aur wo hai dadi aur poti ka.and dadi smiled looking at her

Geet looked at her with disbelief..

You heard right Geet.. we are going to do a new beginning .. Now whenever we meet you will call me dadi like Maan and Sam call me..not Ma'am..Got it?

And they all saw a smile in those tearful eyes..Geet was smiling widely and having tears in her eyes .. dadi wiped her tears and kissed her forehead..

Call me dadi once.. Hame dekhna hai ki tumhaare muh se kaisa lagta hai..

Dadi.. he called her and hugged her tightly too..and She started to sob in that hug..

Maan was looking at them..he was not able to understand what ever was going there.. What dadi wanted to do by all that?

Dadi patted her back.. chup ho jaao Geet.. She parted her away from herself..Geet was still crying..She wiped her tears..Ab jaate jaate apni budhi dadi ko bhi rulaaogi?

And geet shook her head and wiped her tears..Dadi looked at Sam...

Sam.. Everything which Geet did for me was the responsibility of you.. The responsibility of a daughter in law..but you were not here to do that. But it's ok.. Then Geet came here as nurse for me but the way she handled everything was beyond the duty of a nurse..She cared for me like a family member does. You can see it yourself how careful she is that you could roam around the city without any care for me..

BTW you said one thing right that she did everything so efficiently that I m on my feet in three days.. So how can I lose such an efficient girl ?.. I will keep her as my granddaughter forever..hai na Geet? and Geet smiled to hear her..

Maan was surprised to see dadi's this avatar.. He knew that she was trying to do the damage control..Though it was not possible now but she was trying hard.. and he was happy that she made Geet feel good while going from there..

Geet touched her feet before going and took her blessings..

Dadi blessed her from her heart..

Thank U Ma'am..and she pressed her tongue between her teeth and dadi looked at her with a frown..

Sorry... Dadi..She quickly said to her..

Maan and dadi smiled seeing her getting embarrassed..

Maan and Geet left from there and after she left dadi's eyes filled with tears and she did not know which types of tears they were ..

She did not know if she was sad to see her going or was repenting on her deeds to choose Sam as her DIL.. or was happy to get Geet as her granddaughter or she was regretting for forcing Maan to lose the life partner who was perfect for him in every aspect.. She took a deep breath . She turned and warned Sam-Think before saying anything Sam..If you don't know what to say and what not then it's better to keep your mouth shut..

Sam lowered her head but she was not feeling guilty but was angry that she had to bear so much insult that too in front of a mare nurse who worked for only few thousands..Her family considered that nurse more important than her..and that was humiliating for her

Maan and Geet were heading towards the hospital..And the drive was silent..

Maan cleared his throat ..

Geet

And Geet smiled at him..It's ok Sir.. I did not mind..Yes I felt sad for a moment but dadi gave me more happiness than that sadness ..So it's ok.. you don't need to feel bad sir..
