Doing tragedy continuously, 5 days a week, is hard. It takes a toll on everyone, especially the actors. Not only that, even watching it continuously is difficult if not depressing. I'm not talking about crying only - soap stars know that crying is par for the course. What I'm talking about is the pitch, the tone, the intensity, the tragedy - call it what you will - that we've had since Friday (for about 3 and a half episodes).

But they had to maintain that pitch, given the seriousness of the issue they have taken up. And yesterday they broke tone and gave an indication of where we are headed - something similar to when Mehak came to Khanna house after the half wedding - a tone that is not entirely tragic and not entirely comic. There will be lighter scenes from time to time, and even pretend romance when the family is watching, and then intense scenes from time to time.

I don't really have a problem with change in tone. But here's the thing: Yesterday, for the first time since the truth came out, Shaurya got into and drove a car. Mehak sat next to him. And neither paused nor flinched. He was able to drive, and she be driven, without the slightest of qualms. The show didn't even pause for a beat to acknowledge the moment.

Change the tone, lower the intensity, but don't turn it into a regular soap situation where you know the married couple is going to get together once enough time has passed. This is not the same.

PS: I've got a double whammy - a work deadline plus overnight guests coming from another city. So I may not be able to respond as quickly as I would like to. Sorry about that! I'm sure you all will keep the discussion going.

What I was trying to say above was that changing the tone and losing sight of the story you're telling are two different things. One is fine, the other is not.

I agree Vedika ... I agree with emotions being played out .. but there are things that are confusing me..
I have left it that they have picked up such a complex issue that no matter what they do there will be something that will not feel right to somebody else

Agree, vascillating between two extremes suddenly ruins the pace, IMO the confrontation (if I can call it )between MehRya at police station disconnected the earlier intense emotions, the gravity of the situation was dealt in a frivolous manner(duppata scene & hitting with stick 😲 )they need to be careful with intensity graph, a sudden low, without proper cushioning (execution) hurts & falls flat .

They met my expectation😆

The moment Mehak tied the duppata I knew, this would go the "you stole my virginity" way. Utterly insensitive.
They want to keep the conflict between the couple on-going and throw in pretend romance till next twist.

And when Kanta has successfully played Cupid and Shaurya and Mehak are about to come close again, the Sharma family will find out!

And thus back to square one.

Yes Tibs. There is no way out here that will please everyone. Having said that, I hope they can find a way to balance things and not go towards one extreme or the other.

Yes the jump was quite abrupt. I didn't even mind the change in tone as much as I minded the fact that they just got into the car and left. And I don't like the whole evasion of punishment thing, though I think it is temporary.
