Maoists threaten Akshay Kumar, Saina Nehwal over aid to kin of CRPF martyrs

The Maoists have threatened bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and star badminton player Saina Nehwal for extending help to the families of the CRPF jawans, who were martyred in an attack by the left wing extremists.

The Bastar south sub-zonal bureau of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) has published some leaflets threatening Akshay Kumar and Saina Nehwal.

The leaftlets say that the Maoists condemn the efforts of bollywood actors, sportspersons and other celebrities for extending help to the martyrs' families. They also ask them to stand by the side of the Maoists.

The leaflets goes further asking Akshay Kumar and Saina Nehwal to raise their voices against what the Maoists call the 'excesses' committed by the CRPF on 'revolutionaries'.

These leaflets were published in both Hindi and regional Gondi languages. There were circulated over the last week when the Maoists celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Naxalbari movement.

For record, Akhay Kumar donated Rs 9 lakh each to the families of 12 CRPF jawans, who were martyred in a Maoist attack in Sukma on Marcy 16 this year.

The actor donated Rs 1.8 crore in total. Saina Nehwal donated Rs 6 lakh - Rs 50,000 each - to the families of the 12 CRPF jawans killed.

Akshay Kumar also launched an app, Bharat Ke Veer to facilitate direct digital transfer of money from donors to the families of the martyrs.

In November 2016 Akshay visited BSF martyr memorial in Jammu. In October 2016 Akshay Kumar donated Rs 9 lakh to the family of martyred BSF jawan Gurnam Singh. In August 2016, Akshay helped the family of Jawans with a monetary help of Rs 80 lakh.
