I am a big fan of Jennifer and have been watching her shows since she started with Kausati Zindagi Ki. In Saraswatichander she was so perfect. I was heartbroken for her when she and Karan Grover broke up. I was hoping that she would get together with Gautom Rhode. They look so good together.
I know that a lot of heroines take roles that are not peachy perfect and when u see their earlier work you can relate to their former characters.

I can't seem to do that with Jennifer. I live in Canada and Saraswatichander is being repeated her and I was watching it one day and I could not relate to Jennifer as Kumud. Her Maya character has completely taken over her. I know that they say if a vilin can make u hate them then they are doing an excellent job as an actor. But I don't know if this role was a good decision on the part of Jennifer.

Earlier it said her role would be grey but it is not it is over and overall negative.

These are my feelings and I do not mean to hurt anyone. I think Jennifer is an excellent actress.

What does everybody else feel about her role as Maya?

Thanks in advance

I reckon it was a very, very good decision on her part. She's killing it (pun intended) as Maya 😊

She's got the chance to showcase a wide range of emotions (and looks) in this serial and my respect for her as an actor has certainly increased manifold after Beyhadh.

I don't hold her character against her (no one should) and in fact it's the kind of meaty role that many of her contemporaries would love to play (Niti Taylor in a recent Tweet said the same).

It is the character that gives a distinct identity to a role or part played in a fictional story! And hence it is rightly called character!

What JW does at one level as a professional actor, is to lend physical features of her human body with some help from costumes, make-up etc, to give a face & physical identity of a certain character that she plays!

But it not just the get-up or physical appearance alone that matters!

The behaviors & attitudes of the character actually define & distinguish it from one to another! And most often it will be very different of the professional actor herself!

The creative team & crew managing the shots and of course the actor who delivers the intent are all responsible for character projection or portrayal!

So, the resemblance in physical form has nothing to do with a certain character, while comparing Kumud, Maya Or even Jennifer or any of her previous roles!

Jennifer took the correct decision in agreeing to assay the role of Maya in Beyhadh. She is an actress par excellence and she does not take mundane roles where her character is just a showpiece. She has not done many serials and is very choosy about her roles. Her characters in all her shows have become so memorable. She was looking for a very different role to portray and when Beyhadh was offered to her she could not say no as she came to know that for the first time she has been given the opportunity to portray a character with negative shades and with so many layers.
Credit goes to her for her brilliant portrayal of Maya. Her looks, get up, gamut of emotions in enacting various shades of Maya have all contributed to make Maya one of the most unforgettable characters on Indian television.

One can love Maya or hate Maya but one can never ignore Maya. And the credit goes to Jennifer. I don't think any other actress would have even come closer to match her brilliance. An actor has to come out from his/her comfort zone to take up different roles to stop being labelled as a stereotype and Jennifer is no stereotype.
