Part 8
Shivaay Singh Oberoi is a very stubborn man. If he wanted to see his wife, no force in this world was going to keep him from seeing her. The mounting frustration at being thwarted enough times since his mother tore Annika's house down, he was reaching the point of desperation.
From simple requesting to stalking her whereabouts, he was running out of options. She just refused to speak with him, not even see him. Even Sahil couldn't persuade her to come face to face with him. He tried banging down Chanda's house, but found that she wasn't in the house altogether.
Apparently, Rohit Kumar was hiding her away from him. Boiling with fury, he plotted to buy over the man's company. Unfortunately for Shivaay, the Shrivastav family on Rohit's mother's side, were respected in the departmental store industry, and he found the commission blocking his intention to buy over the company. A strong brand name, with plans for expansion and branches coming up in the near future. Rohit Kumar was going up the success ladder.
I'll be damned if he takes my wife along with him.
She must be so furious with him. He had allowed his jealousy to take over his brain and reasoning. Now he desperately wants to know everything she tried so hard to explain before. He was blinded by his rage, and each time she had come to explain, he had shut her out. HE was an absolute moron, he knew now. Things had gotten so ugly so fast and he desperately needed to fix this. If only she would just give him a few minutes. If he could just look into her eyes, he was sure he would get her to understand what happened.
She loved him. And he had hurt her. He will say sorry any number of times to make it okay again. And he was the most stubborn man he knew.

Shivaay had planned this meeting meticulously right down to the last detail. Where, which room, who sits where, serving what, A/C at what temperature, shades open or closed, everything. Then she threw a curveball insisting she won't attend a meeting at an Oberoi building. He smirked at her cleverness. Well, Annika, as smart as you are, I am still smarter.
So the meeting was scheduled at the last minute at his lawyers' office. Shivaay had gone through every detail with his very nervous lawyers , for utmost decency of conduct and privacy of Annika. He had already arrived long before she did. He watched her as she had another last discussion with her lawyer and Rohit before their meeting.
She looked beautiful. Tired, unhappy but beautiful. She was furious with him, and he deserved it. She had a formidable temper , as bad as his, but he knew she couldn't want to marry this Rohit. She was his. I'll be damned if I let him touch my Annika. Over my dead body. And His.
Watching her with this Rohit fellow, he realized what a fool he was for believing she had a relationship with the man. That and his trusty security officer cum spy Khanna found out that Rohit had left Annika after promising to marry her all those years ago, because of his parents. Despite his relief, he felt a rising impatience to talk to her.
He hated it when she was refusing to speak to him. He hasn't slept properly in a week because of it. He had no phone number to call, no address to go knock on. A restless anxiety assailed him almost constantly, this need to see her , talk to her. It's madness. His breath seemed stuck in his chest.
Snapping out of his reverie, he saw her walk into the foyer of the offices, asking for the meeting rooms. With his strict instructions, the PA guided Annika alone to where he was, and the others to the meeting room.
Annika walked into the meeting room curiously, wondering why she was alone. Turning quickly , she would have left if not for his voice.
"Annika..."
Turning back in shock , she saw Shivaay walking towards her, they were alone in this room. Registering the anxiety in her face, he put his hands up conciliatorily.
"Relax. It's just me. No ambush. It's the only way I could talk to you before this meeting."
Annika said nothing, but waited for him to speak up.
"How long are you going to avoid talking to me, Annika?" he whispered softly. She smirked her lips and remained silent.
"I can make you talk to me , you know...You know what I am capable of.." She flashed an angry look at him, and he held her gaze raptly.
"Annika... let's talk please.." they were gazing into each others' eyes so intensely, Annika was already forgetting her resolve to keep aloof.
Her eyes filled with tears. Why now, Shivaay? Where were you when I needed you? How could you turn me out like that? And now, ask me so casually to talk? The hurt and betrayal in her eyes were accusing him, and he saw it all. Wasting no time, he took her hand and clasped it gently in both of his.
"Annika, I had nothing to do with demolishing your house. You know I wouldn't do something like that. You know me better than that. I didn't do it."
"Your mother did it." She spoke abruptly. Curt and short.
"And she will pay for it." He replied fast. That brought her looking straight at him, her hair falling to cover her eyes softly , the look in her eyes giving her an air of beautiful dangerousness. He loved this part. Achingly, he smoothed her lock of hair away from her eyes and tucked it behind her ear. Slowly, like his life depended on it. She had the most beautiful hair, and always smelled like heaven.
With the softest of touches he grazed her cheek, cupping it gently. She closed her eyes and breathed shakily, and he might have imagined that she leaned into his palm. Her beautiful lips parted softly with her breathlessness, the same feeling choked him. Frowning intensely, he swallowed hard as both his hands held her precious face and tilted it up.
A lone tear slipped out of her eye but she kept them closed shut. He closed the distance and covered her lips with his. He sucked at her lips , rubbing them back and forth with urgency, robbing her of breath. Slipping his tongue in, he smothered her gasp with a groan, one hand snaking around her waist and pulling her close, the other bunching in her hair.
He kissed her over and over, pouring his desperate need, he wanted to show her how much he missed her, his hands moving all over her back, as if it were possible to hold her any closer to himself. Impatiently , he pulled at her hands, guiding them to his neck. She held his face as he continued to kiss her senseless, fingers slipping into his hair.
She jerked her face away and gasped his name, Shivaay...
It was like a switch got turned on, his name on her lips, like that. He grabbed her hips and lifted her onto the table behind them, and continued their mutual assault. He broke off for a second and looked at her, lips swollen and devoid of lipstick. Her eyes opened gently and looked expectantly at him with a mild questioning look.
"Come back to me Annika..."
That sobered her. Tears formed with disappointment in her eyes, at what she had just done , with him. Angry at her own lack of will power, she struggled with him to let her go. He held her to him until she stopped struggling and bent her head in defeat.
"Let me go, Shivaay..."
"NO way... Come back with me please. I'm not divorcing you. I was never going to. You're mine."
"I want a divorce Shivaay."
"NO! You love me. I am not letting you go. Not an option."
"Shivaay, why are we prolonging the inevitable?" she whispered.
With that Shivaay got angry, his green eyes bore into hers as he shook her. She cried out aloud, and he grabbed her face, touching his forehead to hers. Looking suspiciously like in tears himself, he rasped out in gravelly voice.
"Tell me you don't love me..."
"Your mother doesn't want us married Shivaay. Look at what happened to us? Is it worth losing everything over? "
"Tell me you don't love me..."
"I... can't.." and she dissolved into heartbroken sobs, and he engulfed her into his arms, her sadness clawed at his chest.
"Will you trust me, Annika. To do what's necessary for us?"
"I want this divorce Shivaay..."
"What are you saying, Annika? I am not going to let you go, never. I love you..."
This is doomed, Shivaay. There is no other way..." She pushed at him, and got away from him. She ran like a frightened rabbit and disappeared into a washroom.
Shivaay gathered his breathing and walked into the meeting room. Time for Plan B.

Rohit waited agitatedly for Annika to appear. What was keeping her? Was she kidnapped or something? Goodness ! He was about to get up when Shivaay walked in. Immediately, Rohit knew something was up. Shivaay looked restless, bothered and upset. But he walked calmly to his lawyers and conferred with them.
What in the world is happening here? He wasn't just going to let her go, is he? After all the trouble he had gone to set off the Jealous green eyed monster?
Then when Annika walked in , it became obvious to Rohit that something really had happened. Annika looked like she'd been crying, her make up was mussed, and she was not meeting anybody's eyes. He touched her arm, asking if she was okay, she kept her eyes away and nodded. Whispering to her lawyer, she asked for the proceedings to be speeded up.
Shivaay continued to stare her down from opposite the conference room table, eyes only upon her. Clearing his throat, Shivaay's lawyer began to read through the document he had prepared. Pinky Oberoi walked in unannounced with her husband and sat by her son's side, visible and pugnaciously excited at the proceedings.
The lawyer meticulously read through aloud ,the document of dissolution of marriage, all was fine until it came to the last part. The part where Shivaay has stipulated that upon their divorce, Annika was entitled to half of everything he owned.
All hell broke loose on the other side.
Annika sat stunned at what she had just heard. He was giving her half of everything he owned? She protested to her lawyer, who was very happy to have broken such a lucrative deal for his client. Ignored, she watched Shivaay take the document, and paused before signing it. Pinky had started screaming blue murder at the settlement, and before she could grab the paper, Shivaay had signed it. Tossing it over to their side of the table, Annika's lawyer picked it up.
A very strange sight happened. Pinky Singh Oberoi, in all her rotund and blustering speed, had scuttled over in surprising speed and snatched the papers from her, and tore it into tiny shreds. Annika and her party stared at her incredulously, as the older woman screeched at her son for making such a deal.
"What's wrong mom? My wife deserved half of what I own. Just like you would have been entitled to. In fact I might even give her some shares in the Oberoi Group." Pinky screeched some more and flat out refused him to do such a thing. Annika and Rohit watched as Shivaay and his mother debated the issue.
"If this divorce , is what YOU want ,Mom, then this is the deal. I am not going to hear another word."
"No! Then this divorce must not happen! NO! " she backtracked to Annika's surprise. Shivaay smiled victoriously and glanced at Annika. He had realized that the only reason she was now wanting the divorce, was his mother's disapproval. Now, the shrewd man had just made his mother refuse the divorce herself!
Annika didn't know whether to laugh or scream. Shivaay was smiling victoriously at her, in full tadi, and his mother was weeping something furious right next to him. Madness.
"Are you sure you will accept her back into the house, now that the divorce is off the cards,Mom? You will be nice? " he extorted more promises from his weeping mother.Annika had enough. She got up with Rohit and walked out with her lawyers.
