| Slapping Machine - Tanushree Dutta By Webmaster, 18 January, 2008 | |
Govinda is in the news for slapping a guy for no provocation whatsoever. But Tanushree Dutta had a valid reason to slap a man who tried to act fresh with her at an event in Bangalore recently. The actress talks about the incident for the first time, "I didn't speak about it as so much has been written about Koena's experience in Mumbai on New Year's Eve. But what happened to me in Bangalore on New Year's day was ugly." Tanushree was invited to perform at the Garuda Mall in Bangalore. "I knew the organisers, so I agreed to do the show on January 1. On reaching there, I discovered the security at the mall was practically nil. And there were thousands of people. I was petrified. On being assured that I'd be safe I began to move to the stage. On the way, some guy broke the cordon and held my hand. I responded instinctively and slapped him hard." The actress doesn't regret turning violent. "A girl whether in the industry or out of it, has to protect herself." I've realised that in our film industry, actresses are not respected at all. And to make matters worse I've this hot and sexy image. But hello? "I was wearing jeans and a top on New Year's day. I was covered from head to toe. I was still attacked. I'm scared of the moralists who argue that some women ASK FOR IT by dressing provocatively. That's another reason I kept quiet about the incident." A third reason for Tanushree's silence? "Those organisers haven't paid me as yet. Now, I also know that the same people have also been less than fair with Bipasha Basu and other actresses." After the fiasco, the Bong belle refused to go on stage again. "Just because I'm an entertainer it doesn't mean I don't have any dignity! I insisted they take me straight to the airport. They dumped there alone and left. And my 11 pm flight got delayed by two hours. So, I finally reached home at four in the morning." Tanushree's trauma so soon after her experience on New Year's night raises the question of actresses and their safety at such live events. No wonder Mallika Sherawat has personal bodyguards with her at every outing. "The security at these events needs to be beefed up drastically. Not that I ever feel secure in public. No matter where I go I always feel unwanted eyes following me. It's a dirty world out there," Tanushree concludes. haha good job to givin that guy a tapad!!some fans can just be to obsessive lol!! |
