The more Annika saw this look in Shivaay's eyes, the more she felt bolder, stronger, more brave. He was emotional this morning, she could see it in his eyes. Whatever he said , or didn't, she knew the look in his eyes.
Something is upsetting him. And he hesitates to tell her. But he doesn't hide behind tadi or avoid her now , she is awed by the honour of being allowed into his personal space.
"Where have you been, Shivaay? I've been searching for you all morning. You haven't eaten, no medicines, you leave early and come back so late, what's going on? I've worried about you!?"
She knew she was nagging him, but she wanted to get him out of that scary, serious look he has in his eyes, hoping that annoying him will do the trick.
He looks like he just heard something terrible, some really bad news. She wondered what it was, but knowing him, he won't tell.
He suddenly gathered her up in his arms and squeezed her tight. She was stunned with the force in the hug. He enveloped her whole body into him, hands like steel barriers. Warm and strong.
He was squeezing her tightly, the silent distraction of his mind told her he was grappling with something difficult.
"What's going on, Shivaay? Tell me what's happened! What is it?"
"Its nothing, Annika. Thank you for worrying about me. "
Nothing.
Strange how a word that defines "not a thing" or zero , is often loaded with a wealth of hidden meanings.
"You can't say, or you will not say?" She whispered softly, and he stiffened but did not let up his hold. His hand stroked warm circles on her back.
With a sharp intake of breath, he straightened and held her by her shoulders.
"I bet you haven't eaten yet. Right?" He asked solemnly.
She blinked with the sudden change of topic. Shaking her head, she told him breakfast wasn't a habit of hers, she was usually rushing out in the morning getting Sahil ready for school and her work. Lunch was her main meal.
For some reason, that put the sad look back in his eyes.
"I'll be damned if I don't make you eat every meal from now.." he vowed and pulled her by the hand to the kitchen.
He cooked for her. He quickly made the yummiest looking parathas right in front of her from scratch, his mind busy with the task. She watched him the whole time, this whole gesture extremely endearing. No one has ever cared for her like this.
Hot from the stove , he fed her. Mouthful by mouthful, spoon by spoonful. And with each mouthful she was force fed, she watched his sad eyes hide his emotions.
That's it. I've had enough of this, she thought.
"I love you, Shivaay..."
And then she watched his face freeze with shock, eyes blinking furiously, as he swallowed and struggled with what to do. He had transformed into that adorable stammering boy avatar she found extremely lovable.
Yes! Cute-sa Billu ji is back, she giggled inwardly. She knew he didn't have an answer for this statement yet, and funnily enough she didn't mind. She felt so unburdened by her feelings now, having said them aloud.
I love him. So much.
No matter what he decides to do about Us.
She picked up the plate , and fed him back. Grateful for the reason not to reply to her gargantuan statement, he ate from her hands.
