I started with DBO, got hooked on it and then went back to the previous seasons of IB on Hotstar when I was in India.
The Omkara I've seen on DBO doesn't seem to have any problems getting physical.
All the way from grabbing Tej by the collar when he's angry, hugging Jhanvi to console her when she's sobbing about her toottha parivaar (while blatantly hoping her son would be the bali ka bakra and save her and Tej's relationship by sacrificing his own happiness) , grabbing Fakelana's wrist when he's angry (he's grabby when he's angry... isn't he?) to dragging poor unsuspecting pure as driven snow Chulbul chironta into spontaneous hugs periodically.
Of this lot, the only two people he's touched willingly are Jhanvi and Chulbul. Jhanvi is of course the safe, familial choice which leaves Chulbul as the only non-familial person Omkara has had willing physical interactions with and seems comfortable around... The comfort level Om feels is not because Chulbul is a guy, it's because Chulbul is Gauri. This also made sense during the weird 'current laga' phase they were going through. It wasn't happening because Omkara was attracted to Chulbul, it was because Chulbul is Gauri and Omkara is somehow connected with her through... i don't want to be so cheesy but... fate or something of that sort. Soulmate-y BS all of tellywood seems to revel in.
What I think the CVs wanted to show with the Omkara/Jagrata Wali Gauri interactions is that Gauri is The One for Omkara. Even if his logical brain has failed to accept that due to misinformation and sheer bullheadedness on his part, his heart or wherever his instincts and emotions exist, has recognized this. Gauri in any form, be it as Gauri Kumari Sharma, Jagrata wali ladki whose face he hasn't seen or Chulbul, is Omkara's endgame. Even if he doesn't know it yet, deep down, his heart and apparently his hands know, allowing him to get... well, handsy.
