Quite a few social norms that seem to be practiced from ages actually a scientific bearing to it, and this one of 'siblings should not marry' is one of that.. It is proven scientifically that if the parents have close or matching DNA, then the kid is more likely to have genetic defects for a lifetime.. And siblings and even cousins are more than likely to have this DNA matching.. Its for this very reason that the social norm is made and followed... I find that very a healthy approach...

However the case mentioned above is extremely unfortunate.. The society should not be the moral police here, and leave the decision to the 2 adults completely... Yes, they did not know when this happened, and now that they know - they better decide the future course considering everything...

is it b'cos it is against the law?
is it b'cos of the disgust of others for their relationship, man I thought the world cheered "do pyarkarnewale" standing up against the establishment and the one's against the two were like the "evil villians" of bollywood or the ugly Sasumaa's of Hindi Television serials that everyone hated
or is it b'cos of some scientific mumbo-jumbo(people who also beleive in the Adam and Ave theory, HTH did we come about by that theory then 😆 )

I say people should stop interfering into other people's life's and let them do whatever they want to do

Was totally thinking on scientific lines for the main reason of annulment...but your enlightenment (Adam&Eve) makes me think otherwise...leave them alone and wohhh for love 👍🏼.. but again do we believe in Adam & Eve theory?? hmmmm they where did humans came from..?😆 Does monkey have such laws ? ... and no offense on the word "monkey" pls...

This is very sad indeed. I think with advent of sperm banks, these kinds of accidents are going to become more common.

As much as I sympathize with the couple, I hope that they annul the marriage and seek other partners. I am critical of first-cousin marriages too still practices in some societies so for me this is clear case of incest, even though unknowingly. Good that there is no child involved like the German couple we discussed about few months back where a brother and sister had couple of children and most with genetic disability and low IQ. The probability of recessive genes is high as proven in many Royal families.

Laws and society are made by humans to bring a certain discipline to life. If everybody objects to law's interference and wants to lead their life as they prefer then there would be anarchy and probably new laws need to be formed then😛.

What Jayadidi has mentioned is absolutely right!! Its more for medical reasons that the society made this norm!! The kid may get affected due to this.. But again that also depends on fate.. In south India, there is a norm that the brother marries sister's daughter 😕 very strange isnt it.. But even now there are many places where they follow this.. Well, social norms for certain things are good and for certain other things, we need to break the rules.. Let them keep shouting, all you need to do is to ignore them.. They will keep quiet automatically..

remember this is one of the major causes for proliferation of terrorism.. Agar chota nahi toh badaa dhamaka toh sunoge....this is absolutely not the right thing to do.....in matters of culture, values and tradition people dont get quiet "automatically"
