SS Guiding star

The night was warm and all of Walia mansion lights were turned off, not a sound could be heard except the tinkling of a soft piano being played in the study tucked high up in Walia mansion. Jai Walia out of frustration slammed the keys shut, standing up in anguish, he shook his head and sweat beads fell off in every direction off his unkempt hair, walking towards his study window he removed his tie and unbuttoned the top button of his shirt, wiping the sweat off his forehead on the back of his hand, Jai Walia, Hotelier and the third richest man in India was broken, how could he have made such a stupid mistake, frustration pouring from his every pore, he slammed the window with his right fist and a crack appeared in the window pane, looking at the small cut on his wrist , he saw the blood ooze out, but the pain in his heart seemed to be worse.

KNOCK, KNOCK

"Jai, kya hua".

Turning around on hearing Meera's voice, Jai groaned, what the heck was she doing here, the reason for all this mess, Jai growled back at her,

Meera visibly flinched, was it not enough, in front of other people, did he really have to disrespect her in private to. Straightening her self she raised her chin and stared right back hard at her husband, refusing to let him disrespect her and showing him that she wasn't putting up with it like his first and lawfully wedded wife.

Seeing the blood drip from his hand and stain the collar of his pristine white shirt, Meera rushed over to wipe it with her sari.

Jai out of anger backed away and almost shouting at her said.

Grabbing a nearby handkerchief, Jai pressed it on the cut and bit his lip to hide the pain, pretending it didn't hurt he said,

Looking at the crack in the window pane Meera opened the window fully to let some air in,

Meera stared up at the dark clouds hovering over the moon, fearing she had said to much, she sighed waiting for the rapid rebuff from Jai, noting it not coming she suddenly felt his presence next to her turning her head, she saw him staring up at the night sky but unlike her, Jai was more interested in the stars.

Turning fully towards her, he grabbed her shoulders and continued, as Meera listened closely; not daring to interrupt his heart felt speech.

Trailing off, unable to face the terrible truth Jai turned away letting go of her shoulders unable to look her in the eye, Meera smiled understanding finally what this was about, walking up to a drawer she pulled out some papers and grabbing a nearby pen sighed them straight away, beckoning Jai over, she placed the papers open and passed the pen over to him, confused Jai said,

Shocked, Jai rubbed his temples and screwed up his face and spat out,

Laughing Meera replied.

Jai's eyes widened and skimming through the papers quickly he signed them without a word. Meera grabbed them from him being careful not to touch his hurt wrist.

Putting her hand up Meera waved at Jai, "No need to be, I have just one more thing to do before I leave Walia mansion for good, may I use your phone".

Curious about what she meant, Jai readily offered his phone to Meera. Dialling the number quickly Meera asked the person on the other line if Bani was their, and if she was comfortable after nodding a few minutes, she said,

Hearing an affirmative answer on the other end she clicked the phone shut; Jai wide eyed with amazement at the strange conversation asked her what the call was about.

Meera bit her lip slightly out of nervousness and motioned for Jai to sit down on the sofa, grabbing a glass and pouring some water in it she offering it to Jai, who was looking more and more panicked and as white as a ghost.

His temper rising he went to stand up when Meera pulled him back down.

Stunned beyond belief, Jai Walia cried, like he had never cried before, all the frustrations, the guilt the pain all come flooding out, Meera as a friend offered support and stayed with Jai while he cried, wiping her own tears, she smiled at him and offered her hand.

Wiping his tears Jai just nodded, Meera took his hand and said,

Grabbing her hand he shook it gladly and smiling through his tears, "Off course, I owe you so much, and what's the second thing."

"Mr Walia, you have the most awful taste in ties."

Both laughing their heads until their tummy's hurt, they both looked up at the same time and saw the shooting star which went past the pale silvery moon, both closed their eyes and made a wish silently.

Touched, Jai was chocked; Meera asked him what he had wished for.

Smiling at each other Jai and Meera knew that they would never be able to thank each other enough for this day, Meera for Jai, when he gave her freedom back and Jai was grateful for Meera saving his Bani.
