You know the drill. Here's the thread for today. If you refresh occasionally like you do for written update, you might be able to read as I update. I will start updating as the episode gets uploaded. You guys can continue your discussion. I will update as I go.
Note: Today I have a meeting from 2-3 EST. So I will be unavailable during that time. So today's update will be short and sweet (as sweet I can turn this track) and needless to say, to be continued post meeting. Until then, feel free to carry on your discussions.
Today I will just say for Dev and Sona - Insaan ko khel wohi khelna chahiye, jis mein baazi haarne ki himmat ho aur baazi jeetne ki aukat.
EPISODE: The episode starts with Sona and Khatri.
Khatri laughs and says that only he knows what crime Ishwari did and she has to pay up.
Sonakshi tells him that he won't blackmail her family.
Me (*snort*): Sure. And how will you stop him, pray tell?
Khatri asks where is Ishwari.
Sona refuses to divulge the information. But asks what she has done.
Khatri says that only he knows what Ishwari has done. No one else knows it, not even Dev. Ishwari used to work in a house no. 12 which is still closed because of her.
Sona doesn't believe him.
Khatri says that if she thinks that he is lying, then she can find out herself. And just think how did Dev get so rich so fast, when some years back they were so poor?
Sonakshi says that Dev has achieved all this with his hard work.
Khatri says that the house which is made on lie, it breaks easily. He doesn't need money nor he wants to make any deal with her.
But he says to her to tell something to Ishwari that her time has come to get destroyed.
Sonakshi gets worried.
Jatin asks what was he saying.
She doesn't respond.
Me: Isn't it funny that Dev cast aspirations on Sonakshi's success as to how she achieved it, and now looks like his own success was thanks to whatever Ishwari did. But she must have done something. Because otherwise she won't have been scared of Khatri so much. May be robbed a family to give Dev start up money.
That doesn't take away Dev's hard work. Just like Jatin's investment doesn't take away Sona's hard work.
The difference is what Dev says about Sona's success vs. what Sona says about Dev's success. Whether in front of anyone or behind their back, Sona never negated Dev's hard work and success. But Dev had.
At the resort, Saurabh is complaining about the room. He says that the room was not as he imagined. Ronita pacifies him asking if he came to spend time with her or complaint about the room. Saurabh calms down.
In another room, Asha feels odd to stay in a hotel away from their home. Bijoy pacifies her saying that it is romantic. Asha agrees that he is right.
Ronita calms her down giving him room service menu.
Me: That's how my mummy used to calm me down and my husband does now. They hand me food to fix my mood for instant result.
While Saurabh is ordering, Bijoy was also ordering. They ordered the same menu except Saurabh ordered sweets too.
Me: As usual Bose family's cute scene. Adorable.
At Dixit house, the doctor says that Soha got better. Dev is very excited to go in. Soha is also happy to get her father back.
Dev tells her that he missed her. He didn't like telling stories from outside.
Soha asks about her mother.
Dev tells her that her mother went out for work.
Soha says that tonight we all will sleep together.
Dev diverts the topic saying that her father will never go away from her. He will always be with her.
Soha is happy.
Dev says that she is brave to have defeated Chicken Pox. Soha says that now that she had it, she will be able to take care of him if he gets it.
Dev is happy to know that his daughter loved him do much.
Me: Cute father and daughter scene. But I didn't like Dev's statement. When Soha asked about their being together, he said that he will never be away from her. But he didn't say anything about Sona. I sense him not keeping his words again. I have a feeling that the documents he signed will come in handy for Sona.
At the resort, Ronita wears the dress Saurabh gave her. She is looking very pretty and Saurabh is mesmerized. Saurabh praises her. Ronita blushes and gets happy. They dance.
Me: Aside from the fact that the dress he gave her at home was Rusty Orange and the one she is wearing is Blue, it was a cute scene.
At Dixit house, Sona comes home and is happy to see Soha got well.
Soha asks where she was.
Dev thinks of Jatin and Sona sitting in the car.
Sona says that she had some work to do.
Soha says that if she had work to do, it's fine. She and her father had fun.
Dev sends Soha to brush her teeth. As soon as she leaves, Dev tells Sona that her luggage has been shifted to the guest room, she can go there.
Sona asks by whose permission?
Dev says: What do you mean by whose permission. My house, my rules. Besides guests look good until they know their place and they don't try to be God. Guests look good in guestroom.
Me: Excellent. Yo, pair ki jooti. I am talking to you Sona. Dikh gaya tumhari aukat? Ab chalo, achhi doormat ki tarha guest room mein chalti bano.
Ab koi aur self-respect wali ladki hoti to Bhaiya ki aukat uske haath mein thama deta. Lekin tum ko to koi self-respect hain nehin. To rehne do.
Sona: You can't keep me away from my daughter. We had a deal.
Dev: So I am breaking it.
Sona: You promised me.
Dev: I am breaking that too. Us breaking promises to each other is not a new thing.
Me: Yep. Big frigging deal. You are the duffer to believe that he will ever keep any of his promises. Just how many promises did he broke until now? I don't think he kept even a single promise so far. If you still keep your faith on his promises, that's your problem. Not his.
Dev: We can't stay in one room.
Sona: That's not done.
Dev: Don't force me to shout. Didn't I say, my house, my rules.
Golu comes running to hear stories.
Soha comes too and asks her mother to come to bed.
Dev says that her mother works hard and also older now. So she needs to sleep separately so that she doesn't fall sick. So she will sleep in guest room. Let her go. Let her sleep in the guest room.
Sona glares at him.
Me: Meh. You deserve it. So suffer. Who the heck cares?
At the resort, Ronita and Saurabh are drinking champagne. They romance.
Saurabh gets angry to not get food yet. He goes to complaint to manager.
Here, Bijoy is also angry to not get the food. He also goes out to complaint for food.
Both couples see each other and both get embarrassed.
Me: Uber cute couple. Their tuning is absolutely apt. Saurabh definitely takes after his dad. Bongs and love for food are like Gujjus and sharp business mind. They are inseparable.
At the resort, Bijoy asks what are you doing here?
Saurabh says that they came on honeymoon. Why did you guys come there?
Bijoy stammers lame excuse. Ronita giggles.
The waiter asks why ordered the food?
They both say they did.
The waiter said that they just got one order. They each offer to give the order to others.
The waiter says the kitchen closed. Both Asha and Ronita give the waiter a piece of their mind in Bengali.
Both men react the same and both wives answer in chorus.
Then they start laughing.
Me: No taunts of not telling them where they were going, what they were up to, what Ronita is wearing, making faces. Just pure family love.
This is the only scene worth watching. Do watch this skipping the rest.
Sona comes to guest room, angry. She looks up and sees her and Jatin's picture in the car, framed on the wall. She is shocked. (Me: Still?)
Dev comes there and Sona asks: What is that?
Dev says: Your reality. Or will you say that's a lie too.
Sona says: Tomar matha kharab. (You have gone mad)
Dev says: Enough of your tumi tumi. You know what? I hate you. I hate you.
Sona: What you are doing...
Dev: What I am doing? And what about what you are doing? And now the whole world will see this truth. I was not at all surprised to see the two of you together. What surprised me was that you left your six years old daughter home sick to go with this man...
Sonakshi: Shut up.
Dev: What? Won't you tell me?
Sona: Do you know what you are saying?
Dev: Do you know what you are doing?
Sona: I have done nothing that will make me feel ashamed.
Dev: Of course. Independent, strong women can do anything and she is not answerable to anyone.
Sona: You are blaming me? Pointing finger in my character?
Dev: What character? That's your character?
Sona gets tears in her eyes.
Dev: What? You feel like crying? Why are you crying? For your best friend Jatin or for yourself? Or are you crying for me?
Sona: How dare you? Shut up.
Dev: I am so mad. I am so stupid. This is what you do. We used to be friends too. Then our bond became stronger and you became the most important person for me. That was your trick naa?
Sona: Enough. You don't know anything about Jatin and I.
Dev: Then tell me. I wanna know. I want to hear everything.
Sona: Shut up.
Dev: Sonakshi, you have hurt me so much that now I don't feel pain anymore. So tell me. I want to know everything.
Sona: If you don't feel pain, then why are you doing all these drama? If you don't care, then why did you follow me?
Sona looks at him shocked.
Me: Okay, so usually in these kind of situation, I would have blasted Dev left, right and centre. But this time, I won't.
Why? Because the fact that he is still talking to her and not to a lawyer right now to get bail on charges of stalking and taking pictures of someone without their permission is all on Sona.
Let me clear this up.
If a man is so in love, that seeing the woman he loves with someone else makes him cry? I'd feel his pain.
But if the same man verbally abuses the woman because he could not control his jealousy? Nope, not excusable.
If a man is so angry on a woman that he ignores her and doesn't want to talk to her? Fine. He has that right.
But if he lashes out at the woman, stalks her, threatens her, or gets vengeful? Nope. Those are criminal act.
If a man hates a woman so much that he never wants to see her face? Again, all fine and dandy.
But if he humiliates her and calls her ugly names? No. Not pardonable.
Because if we excuse this in the name of lau, then every man who beats their wives, throws acid on their girlfriend's face, physically or sexually assaults a woman for whatever reason, we will also have to justify them on the same ground.
But being angry, hating someone or being disappointed enough to walk away from someone is one thing, being vengeful, abusive and a first grade jerk is not.
Most specially when every single thing he charged her with, he himself committed the same deeds.
Hurt from lies? He lied many times.
Hurt from Sona's affair? His went a whole different level.
Problem with who Sonakshi spends time with? He had done worse.
It's not about manners. It's about having a decency which Dev lacks.
And the fact that Sonakshi is allowing him that for whatever reason despite knowing that he had lied and stepped into a hotel room with a woman right in front of her, just shows that when a woman let's anyone - man or woman trample on her dignity and respect, just how pathetic their life becomes.
This is not the first time Dev accused her of trapping him into marrying her. 7 years ago he said the same thing along with a lot else. But Sonakshi forgot that. So this was a reminder.
Of course that won't make a difference because Asha and Elena have by now convinced Sonakshi what her respect is worth. So she is just letting him walk all over her.
Well, we all choose our own fate. Sonakshi has chosen hers.
Dev continues: You have once broken Dev Dixit. But now I won't break. You have to tell me. Even though I know everything. But you have to tell me with your own mouth what is Jatin to you. Tell me.
Sonakshi: He was my friend, he is my friend and he will always be my friend. And you don't know anything.
Dev: Lies. You are lying. Had I not seen anything with my eyes, I'd have trusted you.
Sona: I am saying the truth.
Me: Well, the thing is, as far as I remember, before this incident, Sonakshi had never lied to him. Yet, he doesn't believe her even though she has no reason to lie to him. She is not married to him anymore. She can do whatever she wants with whoever she wants.
But he lied so many times to her before, yet 7 years ago he expected her to trust on his drunk self.
But who cares, this hypocrisy is the new definition of lau.
Dev: I am sure, I am not alone who can look into these eyes and believe that the day is night. And you know your eyes are so beautiful. When I see in them that the world has stopped, everything has stood still. You know it and you took advantage of that. You have trapped me in your web. Isn't it? I was idiot that I fell in love with you. I came in your words. I got trapped in your lies. You broke my heart, Sonakshi Bose.
He holds Sonakshi chin: People say the truth that human being can change their looks but not their nature and your nature is lie.
Sonakshi: I thought that that's it. Dev Dixit can't insult me more than this. He can't hurt me more than this. But today you crossed the limits of cruelty. Let me go.
Dev still holding her: I will let you go. First tell me what is Jatin to you?
Sona: He is my friend.
Dev: Really? Then why did you go with him?
Me: Honestly, this is going in circles. Dev asks the same question over and over. Sonakshi gives the same answer over and over. Dev doesn't believe her any of the time because she is not giving the answer he wants to hear. And the cycle continues.
Sona, you might as well say that Jatin is your boyfriend and let Dev believe whatever. Because honestly, he doesn't want to hear your truth. He wants to hear lies. So might as well.
In fact, if I were you, I will get a boyfriend. Why should I let anyone insult me for no reason? If I have to hear insult, I might as well do the deed.
I mean I am sure when some guy has a suspicious girlfriend who keeps repeating the same question until he gets frustrated and has an affair, he tells the girlfriend that you irritated me so much with your suspicion, I actually had an affair. Why should I be blamed for something I didn't do?
Correct me if I am wrong. But there were movies made on the same topic. But the difference is that when a man does it, it's the woman's fault for constantly doubting him and when a woman does it, it's also the woman't fault for being characterless.
In short, a woman is always on the criminal stand and she always has to defend herself.
Sonakshi says: I met him because...
Then she thinks that Dev said that he, as a child, wanted to kill the man who upset his mother.
And then thinks of Khatri.
She says: I can't tell you.
She lowers her eyes as if guilty.
Me: Idiot. I'd have said what I do is none of your business while looking at his eyes straight. Because even if she was having an affair, it's none of Dev's business. Oh well, if she wants to throw her respect down the drain, what can we do?
Dev gets even more angry: I can't stop here.
Sona: Dev?
Dev: Enough. Don't say anything else. I want to go away from you. Away from this house.
Sona holds Dev's hands: Dev...
Dev: By what right you are stopping me? Why are you stopping me?
Sona looks at Dev and he looks at Sona.
Dev leaves.
Sona thinks about what Dev said and thinks to herself: I know Dev, may be you are misunderstanding me, but I am doing it for you.
Me: Oh dear lord. May be he is misunderstanding you Sona, but does it give him a right to strip down your character? But you know what? You deserve it.
Golu comes to Sona's room with Soha. They see her upset.
Golu: She is sad, don't make noise.
Soha: But why is she sad? May be she is tired from work. How did you know that she is sad?
Golu: Because when BigCha is sad, he stands like this.
Soha: But why is Mamma Papa sad? When they are sad, I feel sad seeing them too.
Golu: In this house everyone is sad. That's how sad people behave. First they fight and then gets sad.
Sona notices them. She asks Soha if she needs her to put ointment.
Soha tells her that she is fine. She asks why is she sad? Did someone upset her?
Sona asks why is she saying this?
Soha says that Golu says that when Papa is sad, that's how he behave. You are doing the same.
Sona: He gets sad?
Golu: Yes.
Soha: Mamma, why would anyone hurt Papa? He is so good. Papa is the best.
Golu: Yes, he is the best. Why would anyone hurt him?
Me: Poor innocence. The day they see how their best Papa in the world treats their best Mamma in the world, I wonder what they will learn about how a man loves a woman? Will Golu learn Dev's standard of behaviour and Soha will learn what is her duty as a woman when treated that way from Sona's behaviour?
That's how abuse continues into next generation.
Sona thinks: Your hate is justified. But some lies are more important than relationship. May be you can't understand it now. But one day you will.
Me: There you go typical victim. His hate is justified Sona, his treatment of you is not. Will you say the same if ever Soha's ex treats her like Dev treated you? But then if the victim doesn't mind, let the double standard, hypocrisy and abuse continue.
PRECAP: Sonakshi is crying holding Dev's picture: You used to say that I never ask for help. I am asking for help, Dev. This fight we have to fight together.
Dev is sitting upset somewhere which is nowhere near his actual priority - Soha.
Me: So the moral of the story is that when abuse happens, justify abusive person by trying to find valid motive.
Anyhoo, Dev seems to think that parents have the luxury to take off whenever they are not feeling like dealing with the situation.
Everytime Sona went anywhere, she made sure there was someone with Soha.
Did Dev ensure there was someone with her before he decided to take off in a huff?
Sorry, parents don't get to drop off and take off without notice. Uncles do.
So when he said that he was raising a child for six years, he wasn't. He was behaving like a doting, indulgent uncle.
And funnily, despite wanting to be a dad to Soha, he is behaving exactly like that.
Yet he gets to point finger at Sona's parenting anytime he feels like it.
He was seen entering a hotel room with a woman, he shared his phone filled with texts from women, yet he gets to point at Sona's character after seeing her sitting in a car with her friend doing nothing. No touching, kissing, hugging, romancing, flirting.
He claimed that he is a single man so he can do what he wants. But Sona is a bad human being for being single, strong and independent, not to mention, someone who traps men. Because of course, Sonakshi banged his head with a danda and dragged into her life kicking and screaming.
But Sona is doing what Asha advised her to do. She is showing tolerance.
The same tolerance which no one will in a million years except a man to show after even an ounce of disrespect.
Because a man's respect is worth everything. A woman's respect is worth nothing.
And every man and woman know it. And that's why, the society is what it is.
