Well Simran you are right for kanta it is now a case of one up-manship against shaurya- a power high that shes getting by subduing mehak. When she took that vow from mehak that she stay away from shaurya, circumstances were different. Her motives at that time were different and primarily to protect mehak. But so much has happened since then especially the changes in shaurya. In the course of this transition in shaurya, there is no such thing as sanity or empathy or sensitivity or kindness left in kanta anymore. She just cant see mehaks pain and she was till now quite a sane person😕
kanta i believe was quite cold towards mehak in the initial episodes- not as much as the grandad but still. They kind of toned her down and made her more protective towards mehak during ISC. and now shes turned loony all of sudden.
I will digress a bit and say that my grouse in this track is with the CVS. We blame the character but yet the CVS chose to take kanta along this path where her redemption seems a far fetched and she has become the most hated and unbearable character. And the CVS have in the course of this track effectively ruined a relatively decent character of the show
Couldnt the cvs have just put a stop to kantas irrational behaviour today when karuna could have made her see the err of her thoughts and they could have shown kanta assenting to the wedding. Kanta was a fairly reasoned person even though her choice of dulhas for mahak was totally off kilter but thats another story.
No but the CVs are doing the same thing they did with shauryas character before he reformed- stretch kantas negativity and behaviour like a rubberband till the maximum and torture us to the hilt. But i hope the rubberband has been stretched to the max and we have a wedding - even it means kanta being transported to mars in the process- they cannot short change of mehrya anylonger

I don't mind the CVs making a villain out of Kanta and placing her as a major obstacle to the lovers' union.It's the way they went about making her do that bugs me.
As you said, Kanta was a decent character before she got drunk on ego. She was selfish and didn't treat Mehak like her daughter in the early epis. Mehak was an outsider in the joint family of two brothers with their kids , only PD cared for her. Then they white washed the Sharmas to get the ZRA model family award and Kanta's this turn around even more annoying and unconvincing than what would've been.
I don't mind if she continues to hate Sahuoir & forces Mehak to stay away from him, but the emotional torture she's heaping on Mehak is unacceptable.Pushing her to unwanted marriage is what made Shauirya determined to marry mehak at all cost.
I think left to themselves, Mehak & Shauirya would've been happy with their random mid-night meetings and slow path to his redemption, this woman just sledgehammered everything. Just because she can trample on Mehak.
In terms of character assassination this equals to recipe chor stint of SK.😆
interestingly, Mehak of late has been missing her real Mom and seen crying near the road sign, a sign, Kanta is loosing her grip and her "Maa hun mein" won't wash with Mehak someday.Hope it's soon.
i owuld love to see PD giving Kanat an earful like Karuna did y'day.
