Well certainly this is the most regressive show at least I have watched. It's like the end justifies the content, and even after watching many many village setup shows earlier I can say that Kuch Rang is MOST regressive because it never seems to reprimand the evils in fact it glorifies and justifies people like Dev and Ishwari who are from the previous century altogether. Their cheap mentality about treating women/daughters or setting boundaries for the DILs or segregating simple household chores and male females - is utterly regressive and so is the expectation that the DIL should tolerate every crap dissed at her without any complaint.

Because the makers never confront the main leads i.e. Dev and Ishwari, it has become worse shows than the actual abusive shows where they show in the end the progressive thought need to prevail and rule.

Thanks for sharing the article. Exactly that's why I have left it whereas I could continue the other torturous shows till last episode.

you are welcome! i dont think its most regressive, but yes I do find Dev and Ishwari's thought process regressive and the language they use for sonakshi. esp. dev has been made into a raging lunatic cause the dude doesnt practice what he nonstop preaches to sonakshi 😃 i rarely watch now, just enjoy the forum! if an episode sounds fun based on comments I watch!

you are welcome! all kinds of articles should be shared.. this is not a fan club that we only read positive articles. my biggest issue with show is this whole "femenist" crap.. almost every little thing? dev throws this word in sona's face.. even the spoiler has same thing.. arent writers getting bored of this themselves and/or they see nothing wrong. i am hoping at some point this word will be addressed.. and not made to sound like a "gaali" šŸ˜•

If this is regressive then thank god i only watch this one show
Atleast i have spared the others from my analysis
Here the children of the leads dont pop out from nowhere after some 20 yrs leap where they are supposed to have been exchanged with the other child already staying in d house for all ths years
Neither does the fl strip infront of one n all in the courtroom just to gain sympathy

I do have complaints about this show in terms of consistency and illogical stuff but i tried watching some other shows ...just could not watch.
This is better than many others. Hopefully as the story unfolds the regressive content that they show sometimes will get redeemed by showing how the characters get over their thinking patterns and progress. Since the redmption has only just begun that too in a small measure we may find it regressive at times
Hoping it gets better and hope the actors continue to be invested in it

i totally agree with the article. this has become a very regressive show
the male lead always says 'independent woman' in a tone which indicates
that he is not praising the female instead taunting her for being independent.

the female lead still shuts her mouth when it is needed to be opened the most.
occassionaly only her mouth opens like in yesterdays episode with ex gkb

the female leads mom either gives advise to daughter separately or to both dau
& ex son in law but never once does she express that dev failed as a husband to sona

the unnecessary pushing pulling of female lead by male lead is shown in all indian tv shows
the latest being naamkaran promo too. why do men have to make their point clear
by pushing or pulling them, only. why cant they make it clear verbally. this serial shows that
even if he is ur ex husband he has every right to physically handle you in whichever way he
wants but all you do is puff pant, thats it. i wish the female lead could be shown slapping
her ex if he ever does that.

and it shows mindsets like there cannot be a nuclear family, always u have to live with
parents only. i am not saying its wrong to live with parents but there are tons of families
where people live separately from parents too. why cant that be shown???

the list can go on & on

ML is not civil at all.. from his tauntings about "feminism" to his physically abusing Sonakshi.. all of it is being glorified as tashan and love😔

Mother of the girl gives good advice, but falls back in "regressive" mode by constantly showing her disappointments with the daugther. asking her to learn to compromise, which sonakshi already did enuff 7 years ago. but turns a blind eye to damaad's mistreatment of her daughter! if she has advice to compromise, give it to both male & female, irrespective of their position and status.

Ishwari is in the psycho zone..from beginning to end. I don't even consider her regressive anymore!

@BOLD... I am hoping for this to happen since I started watching the show for its progressive take on an old "saas bahu" story. I dont' watch until comments seems tolerable to me. i don't see redemption has begun yet... ML.. who really needs to learn & transform the most... is displaying bipolar symptomsšŸ˜†

i am hoping at some point, makers will show Dev understanding the true meaning of the word "feminism" and realize how easily he has been throwing it at Sonakshi.. instead of applauding her, appreciating her for all she has accomplished and raised his beautiful daughter, despite what his family did to her... he insults her strength and courage😔
