Sometimes when I watch the old episodes I am amazed at myself. Inspite of all the wrong that Dev did what makes his character attractive is self-realisation and acknowledgement of the mistakes.

And of course, the lead actor looks so scruffy... maybe that's why too it becomes hard to empathise with the character. I am sorry but this is a serial and I do want to see a good looking man not this pony-tail man with beard that does nothing for him. It just makes me feel more and more disconnected with character of Dev. Even if he has to wear torn jeans etc, at least do something about his face. This look does not suit DEV.

Sure Dev never stood up for his wife and did not take the right stances and most of his apologies were in private but I felt that there was a chance that he would at some point step on the other side, that at least he is figuring out right from wrong.

Season 2 seems to have killed that. This Dev I just cannot understand. Who is he? Where is his remorse? Has he suddenly become stupid? Is his ego so huge that he cannot see what is happening? At the start of season 2 he was not shown like that. He was shown to be distant but totally aware of what was happening, of who was manipulating him and how he must act with them.

The reason why the story hurts now is because Dev's character graph is skewed. He is neither shown as outrightly good not bad. He is confused but this is not a confusion that is adding to his character. How can the CVs not have an introsection scene after what Sonakshi told him about Jatin and how Jatin was there for her? Why did Dev's innate goodness, his sense of responsibilty, his guilt over his wife/ex-wife being alone when his child was born not kick? It would for any decent human being? The CVs have stripped Dev of this essential decency that he had in some measure.

Also, where is his private detective now and why he is not finding out what happened to the Boses 7 years ago? He may not take action but at least he should know. We have seen how he went after Ritwick, why is he now doing anything to find out details now?

Dev needs to make these efforts show us that he is at least listening to what is being told to him. Right now these seem just like dialogues which are not getting any reaction from Dev. Dev was always a man of action. The CVs have taken even that away from him.

If he was not there for his wife/ex wife during childbirth then it's only because of his wife who did not share about her pregnancy news with him .Should he feel guilty or angry for keeping him in dark ? Should he feel angry because his wife/ex wife handed his rights (read right to know about his child, take care of the child ) to her best friend .Should he feel she kind of used Soha to get even with him .

If she decided not to share because of the fight like many claim then she should not blame him or taunt him either for not being there .Neither should Dev feel guilty because he whose right was snatched

Regarding following up on her after breakup, no one goes after their ex after breakup and there are not obligated to do so .Regarding Boses being penniless n homeless I agree with those who raised an important point in the forum ..Dev never cashed out 4.5cr cheque so someone having a job and 4.5cr cannot be called helpless .By not cashing out he did try to help her

When it comes to feelings ,If Sonakshi was hurt so was Dev so neither of them tried finding out what happened to the other after the breakup .In my opnion we cannot term them as wrong if we do then both are equally to be blamed

Nitu thank god you said it all. Just perfect. Regarding leaving Bose family on the roads what you said holds true. Sona was not jobless,penniless and can afford another house by then. Lavanya (not Divanya) I think GT .. Posted elaborately in Sam's thread

on this misconception and aptly answered why Dev was laid back . That post clearly explained Sona's financial status after break up. I wish she posts it in the forum.

If Sona is hurt for Dev not following up Dev is even more hurt for obvious reasons. I don't want to again go into that which was analysed umpteen times.

I requested Lavanya to post her take in the forum. I hope she would oblige.

I just wrote this on another thread where it is been said that Sona had 8cr in her kitty at the time of separation...

If they had 8cr worth of money then why did not they buy back their own home in Delhi? Why did they shift to Kolkata? Why Sona had to wait for 7 years to buy back their home?

Your assumptions is on the basis that the cheque was not encashed, but Sona had left the cheque at Dixit house, where we have the likes of GKB and Vicky. Either of them could have encashed. If Dev is shown as clueless as who ousted Boses from their home, he can be shown equally clueless about who encashed the cheque.

In my view Dev refused the cheque so he will never let any one encash that . Neither GKB nor Vicky could do anything about it since the whole issue revolved round that five crore .

Sonakshi at the time of break up is in job. She is the best nutritionist of Delhi who was offered jobs with great salary.So there is no question of her standing on the road.

Why she did not buy her house immediately I think she and Bijoy must have thought to move away from Dixits . So they went to Calcutta I Presume. Then she became pregnant and got busy with her baby and Saurav's business matters. So she must have thought of getting it back quite after she got settled in every way.

I am only talking about Dev's character inconsistancy and what the CVs are showing. I am not commenting on who is right or wrong.

You of course have your point of view. Just want to point out that he did feel angry 7 years after the break up and stalked his ex wife and wanted to know why she is out on a lunch date with another man or for that matter broke a computer when he finds out about the date. And then he does not feel angry when he finds out the same man held his daughter first? And his ex wife depends on him? Just a little inconstent reaction

I find it weird that he hires a dectective to follow Sona for all this after 7 years but not for other stuff.

Interested in knowing what you feel about his current onscreen look...

Dev was the most loved character, the poster boy and the story revolved around his evolution as a man from being a mere boy, businessman and a blind son. It is completely different now, no consistency at all.
The character graph is not only skewed but also weak and disappointing. You rightly pointed out, that in the intial episode of S2, Dev was suave, smart and understood his family's selfish instincts that ruined his married life. But once Soha's track was introduced, Dev's character deteriorated and he is in a constant state of oblivion and confusion.

The only hope left is if at all Dev has some nerve left in him when they move to Ishwari Niwas in the following week with Sona and Soha. That will be the end game for me.
