On Aug 20 2012 Obama made his (in)famous red line statement

He warned Assad the use of chemical or biological weapons would cross a "red line" for the U.S. (which means if Assad uses chemical weapon U.S. would strike, it would starrt taking action against him)

Again on Dec 3. 2012 he told Assad: "The use of chemical weapons is and would be totally unacceptable, and if you make the tragic mistake of using these weapons there will be consequences, and you will be held accountable."

In 2013 Assad started doing just that, using chemical weapons and guess what? No action taken, there were no consequences, he was NOT held accountable, that is until now...
