You know the drill. Here's the thread for today. If you refresh occasionally like you do for written update, you might be able to read as I update. I will start updating as the episode gets uploaded. You guys can continue your discussion. I will update as I go and change the title with EDITED when completed!!!
Today I will talk about Martyrdom.
When we think about someone's selfless sacrifice, we think they must be great people.
But what we don't think is the price of the martyrdom and who pays it.
I like to talk with examples. So let me give an example.
Say someone with loving family who depend on him, goes to a bank. Suddenly there bank robber come and hold everyone at a gun point.
The person I talked about, instead of following the robber's instruction, jumps on the robber to be a hero.
The robber is temporarily defeated. But the robber's friends end up killing everyone including the person who tried to be a hero.
Do you think anyone will call him hero or fool?
And do you think you can tell the families of all those people who became collateral damage to his mission to attain martyrdom that hey, he was a hero. So you should be happy to pay the price.
Everyone of Dev's martyrdom to achieve temporary solutions are like that guy. But he never pays the price for them. It's always someone else who become the scapegoat.

He has a pattern.
He does some Mahaan deed.
The deed comes out
His mother blasts the innocent recipient.
He, in a mild, barely audible voice confess that it was his idea.
His mother still thinks that her little boy had been influenced by evil elements.
So the price of his unwanted, unasked martyrdom is the innocent recipient's dignity which for some people too high price to pay for something they didn't sign up for.
EPISODE:
The episode starts with Dev storms to Sonakshi: How long will this go on?
Sonakshi responds: You will just drop in and disturb me, how long will this go on?
Dev: I am not disturbing you. Jatin is disturbing me. I can't tolerate this.
Sona: What can you not tolerate?
Dev: Why is he here? Doesn't he have anything to do? Why doesn't he go away?
Sona: Do you have problem with Jatin staying here?
Dev: Sonakshi, why don't you understand? This is Suhana and my time. This is not Suhana, me and Jatin time. Tell him to leave Suhana and me and go. Because what Suhana and I want to do together, he can't do it. Who is he to you? Chacha? Mama? Who is he to you?
Me: Okay, let's see here. Bhaiya, let me interrupt for a second. Let me just point out the holes in your arguments before Sonakshi does.
1. You said that this is Suhana and you time and Jatin can't come there. So why is Golu here? I was under the impression, that you wanted to spend time with Suhana and her family. If you have the right to ask Sonakshi, what Jatin is doing with Suhana, she can ask you too what's Golu is doing with you? You see, the relationship you share with Golu, Jatin shares with Suhana.
2. What were you planning to do or doing with Suhana where Jatin forced himself in? Suhana wanted to play a game where she wanted to play in a team. So let me ask you again. Knowing how bad you are in balancing relationships, whom would you have picked to team up with and whom would you have left alone? Golu or Soha?
3. You could have made a plan any time to take Suhana somewhere and do something with her. Instead, you were busy interfering in Bose family's life as always. Considering your repeat statement on how your focus is Suhana, I am confused as to why you didn't go to pick her up yesterday instead of trying to irritate Sonakshi and to make Bijoy and Saurabh talk to you?
Jatin is not interfering in anyone's life. He wanted to spend time with Suhana, he picked her up, fed her, bought her toy and brought her back home.
You can't blame him for your priority not being in place.
4. What is Jatin to Sonakshi is none of your business. What is Jatin to Soha is pretty evident if you happen to bother looking at Golu and your relationship. If someone tomorrow asks you to go away from Golu because you are not his biological father, will you be able to handle it?
Sorry, Sonakshi didi, please continue.
Sonakshi shouts: Bahut kuch. You don't know Soha at all and he knows Soha very well. He knows me for a very long time. You didn't come back for two days and you are talking like this?
You know, during delivery, when Maa and Baba could not reach on time, then who was there? Jatin.
Who was the first one to take Soha on his arms before even me? Jatin.
When Soha used to cry all night, who was there to make her stop? Jatin.
When Soha was hurt, to whom she always ran to? Jatin.
When Soha needed advice, she goes to Jatin.
She doesn't even cut her birthday cake without Jatin.
For Soha, he was a father figure. He protected both of us like a best friend.
Now that you have came back in our life, it doesn't mean that I will ask him to leave.
I know you are jealous of Jatin because he spends a lot of time with Soha. But he has done a lot for us. So much that even people who are close to us don't do. That's why Jatin has full right on Soha and you will have to deal with it.
Dev is silent. Then he says: Fine, I won't fight with you on this. The house is yours. So you will decide who will stay here and who won't. But when Soha comes to my house, then no one will come to claim their rights on Soha there. Because there my rules will apply.
Me: Fair enough. If that's how you'd want to go about then that's fine. After all, what else can be expected from a selfish, jealous, petty man like you. You know, real men, who think that they are such great people that they can win anyone over. They make themselves worthy so that they are the first person someone will turn to, the first person they will want to see and the last person anyone want to leave.
But petty, jealous, insecure men like you want to get rid of those real men so that they don't have any competition and they win by default.
Golu is talking to Radha on phone. Radha is probing him about information.
Golu spills that Dev cooked followed by what he cooked as in fish.
Radha is shocked that Dev not only cooked, but also cooked fish for Suhana. She warns Golu to stay away from non-veg.
Me: Now scroll up and read the excerpt I wrote before the episode. Yep. How much are you willing to bet that this Martyr deed will be relayed to Ishwari asap so that she can blast Sonakshi for Dev's decision?
Now you see the price of Martyrdom and who pays it when Bhaiya decides to be the genie in the bottle?
Radha tries to incite Golu that Dev won't love him anymore and she asks him to come back.
Golu defends Dev and hangs up the phone.
Elena overhears that. She tells Radha to stop poisoning Golu's mind.
Radha continues her rant. Khud dekh lo. Mere mein itna patience nehin hain.
Elena warns her to stop poisoning Golu's mind against Sona and Soha.
Me: I have no comment here except Elena spoke up finally. Good for her.
Jatin is telling story to Soha. Dev comes there and tells him that it's late and he should go home and Soha needs to go to bed as well.
Soha looks at Dev.
Jatin makes excuses to Soha that he has meeting tomorrow.
Soha wants to continue the story.
Jatin promises to complete it next time. Jatin kisses Soha and goes.
Jatin comes to Sona and tells her that he is leaving.
Sona asks where is he going?
Jatin says that it's very late and he has a meeting.
Sona gets confused for a moment and then asks: Dev told you to go?
Jatin's expression might have gave him away even though he nods his head as no.
Sona gets pissed off. She says how dare he tell you to go? I will talk to him.
Jatin stops her. He says to leave it alone.
Sona: Who is he to tell you to go?
Jatin: Soha's dad. You think Sona. Soha's vegetarian dad cooked her fish and I took her out to have lunch and when there was time to play, I was still here. Sona, I think I am coming in his way, which is not right. I am not only going from here because Dev said so, but because I think Dev is right. If I keep playing with Soha all the time, then when will they get time?
Sona: How to take out time to spend with Soha is his duty. How can he tell you to go?
Jatin says that he didn't mind it at all. Really. He is making so much effort to make Soha happy. You should be happy that he is a lovely father to her and you know it too.
Me: When we talked about selfish and selfless people and someone claimed that Dev is selfless, please then explain what is Jatin? The reason I didn't comment after Dev told Jatin to go is because I was waiting for Jatin's reaction.
One biological father wants to eliminate anyone and everyone who had been there for his daughter when he was not around thanks to his mother's meddling for which he is still blaming his daughter's mother because he doesn't have the guts to speak in front of his mother.
And one father figure is happy that someone is making the girl happy whom he loves like his own, even if they are eliminating him from her life.
I wonder how would Dev feel if Vicky tells him to go away from Golu's life claiming his right of biology. Will he be fine with it? Could he take that pain? Will he be as selfless as Jatin to know that at least Golu is getting his share of happiness?
I doubt it. A man who could not be happy for the woman whom he claimed to love but discarded like a waste basket, how would he be happy for the little boy whom he claim to love like a son?
Thank you, CVs, for showing a shining example of selfless person like Jatin. Dev's reality is so much more visible beside his glow.
Jatin tells her not to fight with Dev with these little things. When they will stop fighting on petty stuffs, only then they will be able to give Soha what she wants.
Sona agrees. Jatin leaves.
Me: I swear, if I was not married to an equally great guy, I'd have made a play for Jatin. But there are so many worthy brides here to choose from that I am happy to be your sister and matchmaker, Bhaiya. I hope, all my unmarried friends, find someone like you as a husband. You are an exceptionally great guy.
Vicky sees Bijoy on the road. He incites him against Dev. He tells him that Dev will go away with Sona and Soha. Bijoy gets mad.
Vicky tells him that Dev will impress everyone in his family and will take his daughter away.
From Bijoy's expression he correctly guesses that Dev has impressed his family. So he tightens the screwdriver even more.
Bijoy is worried.
Me: Dono Maa-bete ek jaise hain. Hamesha screw tight karte rehte hain. Bijoy is now more worried that Dev will convince Sona to get back together again and then hurt her once more. I just hope that he talks to Sona before reacting. He is just making it easier for Dev to insult and taunt him.
Anyways, Bijoy and Asha is in the living room when they see Jatin is coming down with a bag.
Jatin tells him that he has to go on a business trip with some distributors.
Bijoy tells Jatin to look at him and talk. He probes him more about this trip.
Asha asks him too.
Jatin gives up. He says: I think that I should leave from here for some days. I don't want to come between Dev and Soha.
Bijoy tells Asha: See? I was right in thinking that there must be some other reason.
Jatin says that he thinks that's the right decision.
Asha says to Jatin that he is not doing right. He knows how much Soha and Sona need him. This is a big change in their life. He should not leave them now. They will need him.
Jatin says: But Dev?
Asha says: Dev and Soha got their time together. You are not coming between them. You know Dev's situation too, right? But if you go, then don't talk to me.
Jatin tries to convince Asha but Asha refuses to listen.
Jatin gives up his idea to go. He goes in.
Bijoy tells Asha: See, because of Dev, Jatin was going away.
Asha: You are again blaming Dev. Didn't he say that it was his decision?
Bijoy: If you want to continue to stand by this double-faced person, then fine. But I won't let him talk to any of my family member. And if he talks to his family, he will throw him out of his house. And if you take his side, then either I will stay in this home or him.
Asha is upset.
Me: Please note the following nuances between husband and wife.
1. Bijoy didn't make demand that Asha change her opinion because he said so. He just informed her what he is going to do.
2. He didn't tell Asha that he will throw her out with Dev despite the fact that he built this house. He told her that if Dev stays, he will leave.
So you see, even in anger, Bijoy doesn't once say anything disrespectful to Asha.
So those people who claim that husband and wife fight and it can get disrespectful, it doesn't have to be like that. It only gets to the level Dev gets when a husband thinks that they have more rights than their wife. When a husband believes that their wife has equal rights to their life and home, they won't tell her to get out. Because none of us go to a property or business co-owned by someone else and ask the other RIGHTFUL owner to get out. Because we can't.
Asha, don't make faces. The reason Bijoy is so mad at Dev is because of the truth you hid. Today he just said that he will leave this house. What will you do if after finding out that you all hid this truth from him he actually leaves the house? What excuse or explanation will you give him then for continuing this farce?
But then, you are great woman. Even husband's will and his respect are nothing in front of your greatness. Again, who is paying the price for your greatness?
Next morning, Sona wakes up Soha with their poem. Soha says her dad is still sleeping. It's his holiday too, right?
Sona asks her not to get him up.
Soha just kisses Dev and tells her mother that she didn't wake him up.
Sona tells Soha to go brush.
Sona sees a cup of tea for her. She thinks Asha kept it there. She drinks it and thinks that no one can make better tea than her mother.
They all get ready and come down for breakfast.
Bijoy is enjoying the smell of breakfast and teases Saurabh. He also retorts back.
Sona wonders why Bijoy is so happy. Bijoy says that since the breakfast is so good, that's why he is happy.
Me: Again, true Bong. The only thing that makes a Bong happy more than travelling, debate over any topic with tea and a good book is food.
Everyone says that the breakfast is delicious. Sona asks Soha to say thanks to Asha. Soha thanks her but Asha says the she didn't make breakfast, Sona made it.
Sona says she didn't make it either.
They all wonder who made breakfast and tea for Sona.
They try to guess when Dev comes and says he made it.
Dev asks Soha how was breakfast? Soha says that it was yummy.
They show in flashback how Dev told a sleeping Suhana that she has given her father everything. Now it's her father's turn to give her everything.
Me: I am confused. Yeh aadmi ek haath se chanta lagata hain aur doosri haath se khana parosta hain. Kuch samajh mein nehin aa raha hain ki ulta chanta maare ya parosa hua khana kha le.
Everyone is happy except Bijoy says that he got acidity from breakfast. He will make lunch. Everyone hides their smiles.
Asha asks Bijoy if he will make lunch, then who will make preparation for Haldi?
Bijoy says that he will definitely make lunch.
Asha tries to stop him but Dev says that if Asha needs any help, just let him know and he will help her.
Asha smiles.
Saurabh comments that Dad's strategy failed.
Bijoy fumes looking at Dev. He ignores him and has breakfast.
At Dixit house, Elena is getting ready.
Radha comes and lectures Elena on her responsibilities to this house.
Elena replies back that funny how she is giving her lecture who wants to break this house.
Radha is shocked. She reminds her what Ishwari said.
Elena threatens Radha to reveal what she does behind Ishwari's back.
Radha gets scared.
Vicky also tried to stop her using what Ishwari said.
Elena said that Ishwari tried to stop her saying the people at Bose house don't want her there. But she didn't say that if they invite her, she can't go. She got invitation from Sona so Ishwari's excuse don't apply.
Me: Bhai wah. Elena got her personality back. Thank God. Golu must be channelling personality to his mummy.
At Bose house, Dev is the new decorator (Me: Itna kaam to apne behen ki shaadi mein bhi nehin kiya tha) and Bijoy is looking pissed off.
Saurabh comes to Dev with his new problem with Ronita. Dev asks what's the problem? Saurabh says that she wants to go to US for honeymoon. He gave so many different options, but she is not agreeing. Visa doesn't come through so fast.
Me: To us mein kya hain? Thodi der baad chale jao. Waise bhi, tourist visa mein itna time nehin lagta. Mujhe to US embassy ne 10 years ka multiple entry sirf shakal dekhke hi ek din mein thama diya. Tourist matlab paisa. Get it?
Dev takes the phone for him and tells her that he will arrange for her visa.
Ronita says thanks Jiju.
Dev says that there is no thanks in family. (Me: Hain? Kayka family? Aap ka to focus Soha hain naa? Kitna confuse karte ho aap)
Bijoy is thinking that Ronita was scolding him until yesterday. What happened today?
Me: Bijoy uncle, jab sach saamne aayega, tab aap apne family ke baare mein kya sochoge, woh to main abhi se assume kar sakti hoon.
Saurabh says why did he promise her for visa? Dev says but problem got solved, right? He has contacts in US embassy, they will do his visa and will also give him a travel deal.
Me: Wait a bloody minute. Lagta hain Trump Bhaiya ka chaddi buddy hain. Is liye itna lamba phenk rahe hain. Since when US embassy gives travel deal or work on contacts? Yeh US embassy hain, Indian Govt. ka chaprasi nehin hain. Abey, in logon ne Shahrukh Khan ka bhi chaddi check kiya tha, to Dev Dixit kaun hain bey?
Saurabh is excited to get a travel deal from US embassy despite co-owning 400 crore business. He says that Bhaiya is super. No no, Bhaiya is super se bhi upar. Sidha heaven paar with halo light blinking in technicolour.
After all kaunsa crorepati travel deal nehin chahta, batao.
He hugs Bhaiya and bromance happens which gets Bijoy's stinky eye.
He keeps thinking about what Vicky said about Dev.
Me: Bijoy, first of all, I feel sorry for you. Due to all the lies by omission, you are reaching a certain conclusion that you are not even able to share with your family. Because unfortunately, the lies as usual has created a hole in the trust system you all had on each other. I keep saying over and over that lies only create distances and it's proven everytime.
Take it from me, no lie ever does any good. Now see how the very fabric of Bose family is falling apart? Asha didn't trust Bijoy with the truth, she didn't let Sona tell the truth, Saurabh also kept the truth a secret, hence Bijoy now no longer trusts any of his family members. That leaves him a prime meat for Vicky to sink his claws in.
The same way, due to Ishwari's manipulation and Dev's many lies before, Vicky could convince Sona that Dev threw them out on the street.
See what harm lies do to people?
It's not Vicky's fault that he took advantage because he is out there to get Dev's money. It's the fault of the many liers who made the hole through which a snake like Vicky could enter.
Bijoy stops Dev: Dev stop playing games with my family. I know why you are helping Saurabh.
Dev gets exasperated: Mr. Bose, I am working now. So excuse me.
Bijoy stops him again: He says that don't pretend to be nice to my family. I know why you are helping them. They are not understanding why, but I understand. You are trying to trap my family in your tricks. First you charmed Asha to take your side, then you tried to be good in front of Jatin, now you are trying to be good to Saurabh and Ronita. What did you say to, Ronita? That we are one family. Since when you are part of our family? Don't try to impose yourself on us. I can clearly see your true face. You play with emotions of people and then you break their heart. You have already done this to my family. That's why you stay your true self. This pretence doesn't suit you.
Bijoy sits down again.
Dev doesn't say anything then.
Me: And this is exactly what I had been saying that is Bijoy's biggest fear. He doesn't want his daughter hurt the third time by Dev. And now the lies that his family let fester is making him desperate. However, Bijoy doesn't attack from the back. Whatever is in his mind, he says it clearly.
Now Dev, why didn't you reply back to him why suddenly they are your family? You and me both know that the moment your mother arrives, these familial relationships and lofty claims you make will disappear like a smoke. So why don't you just stick to your agenda and stop giving people ideas that Dev Dixit can be anyone's but Ishwari Dixit's own personal slave?
Because when you will insult Asha and Saurabh for your mother, they will again get hurt. So why bother?
Haldi ceremony starts. People are arriving.
Elena comes there. Asha is happy to see her. When Elena greets Bijoy. He leaves from there making an excuse.
Dev arrives there and says welcome to Elena. He says that Elena is looking "khoob sundor" like always. (Means very beautiful).
Asha fixes his Bengali pronunciation.
Elena says Thanks Bhai. You also learned Bengali here.
Dev says that now that he is here, he has to learn some.
Asha says that Saurabh was missing Elena. She is happy that Elena is here.
Bijoy comes there and says: Some people feel they can bring their relatives to their home anytime.
Dev says: It's not wish. You asked me to not bring my relatives there. Elena is my friend. You didn't say anything about friends.
Me: Dev bhaiya, excuse ko soch ke maaro. Aap yeh bol sakte the ki Sona ne bulaya hain. Lekin aap ne yeh kehke ki friends aa sakte hain, Jatin ka raasta khol diya. Ab agar aapki friends aa sakti hain yahan, to Sona ki friends bhi aa sakta hain wahan. Woh aapko hazam hoga ya tab bhi double standard chalaoge?
Elena ki yeh halat aap hi ki wajah se hui hain. Warna last time, usko bahut pyaar se welcome kiya gaya tha.
Pandit call them so they all go.
Elena says: Bhai, Sona had invited me. Why did you hide this from Meso?
Dev: If I had told him that what would have happened? His anger would have fallen on someone else. And I didn't want today he get angry on Sonakshi. What about me? He keeps getting angry at me. Let him get more angry.
Me: See, that's the problem, Bhaiya. Can you really tolerate his anger silently? No. You just get more insulting to him which makes Bijoy hate you even more and is an easier target for Vicky. Bijoy could get angry on Sonakshi. But guess what? Sonakshi can manage her father.
Please, stop doing any more favour on people. Let then handle their own situation. God give me patience!!!
Jatin comes there and greets Elena.
Dev makes sarcastic comment: This is Jatin. Your sister's best friend. You must know him.
Elena smiles at him that she does.
Jatin looks at Dev and smiles while Dev is frowning at him.
Me: You know, Bhaiya makes identical face at Jatin that Bijoy makes at him. Both are trying to keep the other from their respective daughters. They are in fact identical in protective instincts except, Bijoy hates anyone who makes his children cry and Dev hates Jatin because he makes Soha happy. So I guess, Dev is kinda like Ishwari then in that sense.
PRECAP: Golu's ball splashes on the Haldi bowl and Haldi splashes on the shagun ki saree (I guess).
Bijoy scolds Golu: Is this a place to play cricket?
Dev says: Mr. Bose, kids made a mistake. Please forgive them.
Bijoy tells him: You don't teach me how to handle kids.
Asha asks Bijoy to control himself.
Dev tells Asha: It's okay, aunty. I should have been doing batting. If I was doing it, I know where my aim would have been. He looks suggestively to Bijoy.
Bijoy and Sona both get shocked.
Me: Shocked? Still? I mean yeh pehli baar to nehin hain.
Asha, please don't try to control your husband to shout at a man whom he thinks is a thief. No one brings out red carpet for a thief. If you want him to control his anger, tell him the truth. And by the way, you gave Dev the audacity that he can threaten your husband in his own home in front of his guests and thinks he can still remain in your good books. Because when he did it the last time, you let it pass. So he dares to do it again. You should give more lecture on how to be a great wife, Asha. I hope Dev finds a woman just like you who lets him get insulted, slapped and physically threatened by anyone in his own home and then teaches him how to cook.
And Bijoy, I know nothing is making sense as to why your family is treating a thief like he is the king of the household. But don't take out your anger on a child.
Dev, I have no words to say to you. Had Sonakshi even hinted of doing physical violence to insecure clingy women who just breaks home, you would have connected to your mother and screamed at her. Yet, you dare to stand there and threat Sonakshi's father. Again, not your fault. When his wife lets it happen, you might as well kick him in the face.
