Hello All,

Making a topic after many days. Although I have stopped watching since last 1 month or so, I have been following the written updates to keep at the story. And not to say, I dont yet regret my decision neither feel like resuming it in any near future. Why so you may ask.

Well the primary reason would be the absolute disregard this show is promoting for some of the basic values of a person - honesty, transparency, respectful attitude towards everyone (irrespective of genders and age), introspection/trying to stay clean on one's conscious and self-respect. In my dictionary these few attributes hold more weightage than any heavenly emotion called 'love' (although my definition of love already consists of the previous morales, but I am guessing in today's age, the definition has drastically changed). I have accepted a flawed 'hero' with full of hypocrisy when he asks his brother-in-law to leave his home for his own sister and upon disagreeing which arranges for their divorce quite happily and unapologetically, but when it comes to his own wife, he blames her for separating from him despite knowing all the happenings around them. Hypocrisy is a part of everyone's character, only the amount and application varies which also defines the future of our lives. Also, self-centredness is another trait in a human being which is present in almost everybody, more or less. These 2 characteristics don't make someone a bad person necessarily since neither of the above 2 can lead to a crime.

However, there are few things which are defined as vices UNARGUABLY -Lies, Manipulations, Manhandling, Bullying, Stalking etc. These are the characteristics which make somebody prone to crimes. And this is what is repelling me to no end. I simply don't understand how a show can constantly promote things like these WITHOUT showing any consequences of these actions just in the name of creative liberty. How a transparent woman like Asha has been reduced to a character who resorts to hiding and lying to glorify a LIAR action of the 'Hero' ? How a clean and straightforward woman like Ronita is shown to be 'IMPRESSED' by the manipulation of a man ? Like Tia's topic states - The path to the hell is paved with good intention. The fact doesn't change that it's still the path to hell. I don't get how a show can be promoting superiority of one gender by mocking the concept of feminism constantly. And how the actions are never called upon by ANYONE in fact everyday it finds a NEW audience who is impressed with this like today Ronita ?

I am an Netflix lover of almost ALL America/Korean/UK based shows. And it appals me to think that where we are standing with respect to the global television standard ? There are HUGELY popular couples in many SITCOM or BBC shows where 2 people extremely in love break up ONLY because one of them resort to 'lie' to the other, let alone be an extreme situation like going behind somebody's back to start an infertility treatment. There are popular show couples who break off SIMPLY because one decides on behalf of the other which automatically goes against the concept of 'EQUALITY' aka FEMINISM (even if it's the woman). There are popular show couples who break up because of manhandling(too many to count), not even going to the extent of bullying. In fact a character is worth more than just being in a relationship. Minus any romantic angle, there are characters who are respectful, cordial and extremely gentleman towards others and don't resort to unnecessary lies to ANYONE. Let just come back to Indian Bollywood where we recently had this wonderful movie Badrinath ki Dulhaniya where the girl raises such important question that a man can go harrassing a girl in public and even kill her, but cannot call a spade a spade to his parents and cannot respect the girl and her choice👏. These are I feel some of the very basic issues which SHOULD be highlighted HUGELY in our shows instead of just focusing on some 'hot' chemistry of a couple.

With creative liberty one can do so much better to work on the characters of the show. I must indeed be a fool to expect that CVs were going to utilize the 1 year period of extension towards making each character a better one and highlight the importance of truth and respect in a relationship. My bad.

Your thoughts would be appreciated minus any real people bashing.😊

P.S. - Please let me know if references to other shows/characters are now banned in this forum. Will edit out the references🤔.

Hi PK, Wonderful post. the references to other characters and movies/shows is in context of the post and a good way to let the reader know what strikes them.
I am probably old school, but the lack of basic morals make for a bad future for a relationship.

Thank you dear.

Recently I read Gurmeet-Debina - a popular couple in real world have adopted 2 girls, 1 6-yr old, 1 9-yr old. They would plan for their own baby later on.

When I read these, it makes me happy. 👏 Ashi asked this question once that if tomorrow Sona announces Soha as an adopted kid, where would Dev stand ? 😕 What kind of story is this where the couple is forced to reconcile without working on their basic issues just for the sake of the kid? Kids are not the dictators of our lives are they ?

I too don't watch the show for a long time now but watch some bits just for sharica. To tell the truth all Indian shows are the same and some what even the masses are happy with it which is more disturbing. All the characters have been butchered to it's best mainly Dev and Ishwari , the show has lost its sense long time back, now the makers are just taking viewers for a ride 😆 If people really want to see a flawed hero , watch This is us Jack Pearson will blow your mind away he is amazing. At the end of the day no Indian show is worth so much on analyses it the end only TRP matters 😆

Great post PK.

I still watch the show, but my thought process is in reverse order now. Earlier I would make posts because I could completely relate to the show and was bowled over by the simplistic yet profound approach. Now I am baffled by the end of each episode.

I wish that both Shaheer and Erica would watch their show too - it is freaking frustrating to realise that they dont have time or care what they are proposing to the loyal viewers.

Pehchaan I am watching the show regularly and I am not finding Dev's character being glorified at all. He is coming across as a guy who is still clueless as to where he went wrong in his life. In fact the character growth they had shown in the initial episodes of season two seems to have disappeared again.
Yesterday he was acting l like Mr. Bechara but no sympathy could be felt. After all one has to pay the price for one's errors.

Ishwari is being made to look evil and mental. Sonakshi is not appearing rude but as a person who has lots of anger and resentment stored inside her which is natural in her case.

Asha is not acting stupid at all. She didn't one suggest Sona to get back together with Dev. Her stand is simple - now that you have taken a decision to stay with him, please behave. You can't have your cake and eat it too after all. Your decision - you live with it decently instead of making life hell for others. a very practical character in my opinion.

Regarding her statement on bijoy, it was something I had suspected long ago. If bijoy is so impulsive and has anger issues at this age, he would have been much worse when younger. Any married person will agree that marriage is no cakewalk and needs tons of adjustment. Two people and their lifestyle are never the same. From looking at Asha it is evident that she comes from a background where no one would have even talked loudly. These might be irrelevant to us, but can be very relevant to a new bride, just the way Sona got stumped by the double meaning Dixit talks.

Now coming to Ronita, she would obviously be impressed by someone saving her skin.

In the end I just have two requests-

1. The cvs are just telling a story with grey shades characters. If If we like mature, real life stories, then we have to accept this. Where in real life, Perfect characters are found? And if Dev had been sensible what would have been the need of the show? He would have referred Ishwari to a psychiatrist long ago and would have been enjoying a happy married life

2. Please see the show yourself instead of relying on the opinion of others. People's opinions will always be coloured by their thoughts and background. It is impossible to get an unbiased view.

Hey sorry not related to show , but Erica really looks quite disinterested these days as if she just doing the show out of commitment just my observation.I don't she is happy playing a Mom which was not their initial plan, nor she seems satisfied with her character uparse she hates the clothes given to her 😆

Ps: This is just my personal opinion
