I really wish the author takes her time and write about the puke worthy relationship every one in bhallas and iyers maintain with a forever backstabber lije shagun
I agree to the 7:30 pm change that changed everything but not entirely...22nd Sept 2014 was when YHM started to air twice a day - 7:30 PM and repeat 11:00 PM. It started with the KC-Mani drama, where Raman started feeling something was going on between Ishu and Mani and that Ishu would turn into another Shagun. They had the famous Raman drunk, trying to exert his husband rights on Ishita wala scene- Remember? But then the next day everything was back to normal. He said some gibberish stuff and then they never followed up on it. It was like that sequence didn't even exist. They started arguing about Ruhi, and then there was the Diwali celebrations and Shagun's marriage drama started.
I felt it even then and I believe it even today, that the reason they didn't go with that track, like full blown= guns blazing was because somewhere even they didn't know how to do it. I am questioning the capability of the writers; I just strongly feel that somewhere they too felt that sequence made no creative sense at that point. It looked disjointed and so instead of elaborating on the track without even giving it a proper wrap up, they simple made it disappear as if it never even existed in the first place. Honestly even if out of place, the track would have played out really well, and it would have been within the sphere of the 7:30 Prime Drama SPN is used to dishing out...but I believe that the writers, the creative's whoever was present at that time (maybe they are the same even today) or the working style they exercised during that time didn't permit them to go ahead with the track as it was nothing like the YHM we had then. Today maybe, Yes...but that YHM that aired from 3rd Dec 2013 to 21st Sept 2014 had a certain quality. They had dramatic tracks, they had bits and pieces of the Balaji Theatrics but regardless of everything YHM had a charm that was missing in any of the shows airing from 7:00 to 10:30 PM and it did feel like they wanted to hold on to it.
Shagun and Ashok's drama or the tracks that had huge quantities of them were those where the writers would go all out into serving the OTT stuff, but it was always counterbalanced well with IshRa or IshRaRu...the Iyers and Bhalla's drama. But this time it changed because Shagun-Ashok marriage fiasco took place, but there was nothing to counter-balance because characters like Mihika started to act and behave different from their usual self just so that drama or should I say prime time drama could be created. The show was still salvageable but unrealistic plots like Ex-wife coming to stay with Ex-Husband and current wife, Subbu track, Raman getting Ishu's signatures without her knowledge for Surrogacy, Surrogate skillfully turning out to be the ex-wife...and the list goes on; is what ruined YHM.
But as a fine arts student I believe that the quality of even the worst of plots can be raised, through good-creative writing. I believe that all of these above mentioned tracks could have been something else even while keeping the idea the same had it been written like how it was being done when it aired at the 11:00 pm slot. For any show, any movie there are several aspects that have to go hand in hand to make it a success but the CORE of it always boils down to good writing. YHM writers strangulated their creative writing to suit the PRIME TIME THEATRICS requirement and I say this because we have seen firsthand what YHM is or should I say was capable of.
I guess I blabbered a lot ... but like the author said it's disheartening to see what YHM has been reduced to.
