Here's the thread for today. If you refresh occasionally like you do for written update, you might be able to read as I update. I will start updating as the episode gets uploaded. You guys can continue your discussion. I will update as I go and change the title with EDITED when completed!!!
There is a word in Bengali that has no suitable Hindi or English translation. It's called Agantuk. Agantuk means a guest who is not traditional guest as in someone who has been invited out of pleasure. But not an unwanted burden either. Agantuk is more like someone who is sharing space with you neither as a family member, nor as a guest. But as an obligation due to familial tie (like that uncle whom you never met and came to visit you after years) or desperation (like the black sheep member of the family who forcefully inserted himself whether anyone wanted or not).
Here Dev is Agantuk in Bose family home. He is not unwanted guest since Sonakshi issued the invitation. But not someone who is welcomed with pleasure either.
There was a movie by Satyajit Ray with the same name. Check it out.
EPISODE: The episode starts where last episode left off.
Dev offers Bijoy blood pressure pills and tells him that he will need it since he will be living under his roof.
Here Ishwari is cooking up a storm in her cauldron. Mamaji asks who is she cooking for? Ishwari says that she is cooking for Dev and Suhana. Mamaji asks if she thinks that they will keep Dev starving there. Ishwari says that Dev is used to eating her cooking and Suhana is a shadow of her Dev so she is sure that Suhana will love her cooking too.
Me: Now I am 100% sure that Maataji mixes up narcotics. I have only seen drug dealers with that much zeal to hook up new clients. Get them young to get them forever...
Aur Maataji, aapki cooking khane ki aadat according to CVs Dev ki saat saal pehle chut chuki thi. To ab bas itne dino mein hi wapas aadat kaise lag gayee? Khane mein kaun sa milawat karti ho ki itni jaldi addiction pakad leti hain?
Mamaji says that in one week Dev will be back. He just went today. Let him handle everything. But Ishwari is adamant about taking her dabba. Mamaji tries to stop her.
Me: Did someone comment on Bijoy interfering in Sonakshi's sasural in season 1? I can count in one finger how often Bijoy went there and definitely he didn't drop in the first week or even in first month. But then he is father of a girl, not the mother of a boy. So of course different rules apply.
Suhana comes there with Jatin and is happy seeing Dev. Dev tells her that he came to stay with her just like he promised. And this time he didn't come by climbing pipe, but through the front door.
Suhana smiles. Dev gives Suhana a gift and asks her to open it in her room. She goes to her room with the gift.
Dev tells everyone who is staring at him to keep their attention on Saurabh and Ronita and not him. He is there for a week.
Ronita's father takes her very curious mother and leaves from there with Ronita.
Saurabh goes with them.
Bijoy gets upset. He tells Dev who asked him to open his mouth to them?
Sonakshi tries to stop her father saying Baba.
Me: What a shitty excuse of a daughter you are, Sona. You should be ashamed of yourself. I hope one day your daughter brings her ex-boyfriend and moves him in with you under your roof and let him speak to you in a mocking tone.
It's not Dev's or Bijoy's fault today. It's your fault. You failed as a daughter.
Dev continues in his mocking tone that Sonakshi should have discussed this plan with her father.
Bijoy says to Sona to ask this man to leave as soon as possible. He can't allow him to stay at his house.
Dev tells him to relax and gives him the blood pressure pills. His BP will be in control.
Bijoy gets even more angry. Dev steps back and says that if he doesn't want to take the medicine, it's fine. But they can sit and talk, right?
Me: Dev might be riling up Bijoy even more. But the cause of his anger and his upset at Saurabh's in-laws being witness to this drama is not Dev. It's Sonakshi and her utter selfishness. Sorry, I call a spade a spade and today Sonakshi is the selfish person.
Then Dev turns to Jatin and says that now they will discuss family matter so if he doesn't mind... gestures him to leave.
Jatin answers back that he would have left for sure if he was part of his family. He himself is a guest of this family. So if he doesn't mind, he is not going anywhere.
Dev is silent.
Me *standing ovation*: Jatin Bhaiya, you are a gem of a person, a gem of a friend and a gem of a family. Sonakshi doesn't deserve you. On the other hand, we have a lot of lovely ladies right here who do. So would you like me to set you up?
Here I'd like to insert an analysis. The reason Jatin is standing among them with full right is because of Dev. If he had treated the Bose family like Jatin treats them, he would have been the insider, instead of the outsider. When he treated them well, he was part of Mussorie ki Kasam. But he tried to sort his relationship based on blood group instead of heart strings. Hence, Jatin is standing in his rightful place and he is standing as an outsider.
Bijoy tells Dev that Jatin is part of their family. If anyone is leaving that's him.
Sonakshi again calls him, Baba.
Me: I swear, she has turned into a Black Sheep. The proverbial one and the literal one. But then, do you have anything left to say Sonakshi? You are the reason of this scene on Saurabh's special day. But why would you care for those people who loved and supported you unconditionally? All you care about is for them who treat you like shit.
Dev tells Sonakshi to clarify it to her father that he is there only for Suhana. He doesn't care about anyone else.
Then he goes upstairs looking for Suhana.
Me: Sona, that was the slap on your family's place by your hand which is harder on your family than the slap Dev had given your father. I hope to God, no family gets ungrateful daughter like you.
Saurabh may not be as successful, qualified or smart as you. But he is 100 times loyal than you are.
Radha and Vicky plot to keep Sonakshi away from Dev.
Suhana plays with Dev in her room. Suhana kept a shelf for her father. Dev is impressed.
Suhana asks Dev why her Dadu doesn't like her father?
Dev asks her what do you think he'd do to the person who bothers her, hurt her?
Suhana says that he will protect her from that person like he protected her from snake and he will scold that person a lot.
Dev tells her that he had bothered and hurt her mother 7 years back. That's why he is rude to him now.
Me: Haila... Bhaiya, you have seriously impressed me today. Ek ghante nehin hua Ishwari mansion se nikalte hue, aur dimaag ki batti jal gayee? I am very happy with you today. Maine kahan tha ki pag phere ke liye woh teen din ke liye aate shaadi ke baad to dimag ki nut bolts tight karke laut te. Warna maata hain naa dimaag ki dahi ghotne ke liye. Bas Bhaiya yeh gyan ki roshni jo jali hain, isse bujhne mat dena.
Suhana asks Dev if he will go away if her Dadu is rude to him.
Dev says no he won't go anywhere because he is with his daughter. They will stay 7 days here and 7 days with her Dadi.
Suhana says that will be exciting.
Me: Yahan ki taazi hawa kha lo, darling. Wahan aapki dimaag ki jo tide se dhulai honewali hain, woh to wahan jaake pata chalega. Aapki grey matter safedi ki jhankar banke lautegi.
At Dixit mansion, Ishwari is pacing in worry. She is also plotting just like Radha and Vicky.
Then she hears noise. She sees Radha packing Dev's shirts. Ishwari asks what is she doing?
Radha says that she is helping out the ex-husband and wife. After all she is coming next week and she will bring her clothes. And who knows, she might ask for fair space in the cupboard.
Ishwari's face continuously losing it's elasticity.
She stammers that she won't be coming for long. Just for a week. She can stay in the guest room.
Me: Haw, at least Maata said guest room. I thought she said that Sonakshi stay in servant's quarters.
Radha says that OMG, how can her granddaughter stay in guest room? Will that look good? And the way Dev laus her, it looks like that they will stay together in Dev's room.
Ishwari tries to correct her on blood segregation that Suhana can stay with Dev in this room. But her mother can stay in Nanny's place.
Radha says that she is understanding what she is saying. But she is not understanding what Radha is saying. If a daughter stays here, how can her mother stay away.
Me: Wait... *Checks if sun is out from the west* I don't know what's going on today. Bhaiya talking sense, Sonakshi being an insensitive jerk, Radha talking sense, Ishwari being jerk. Wait, the last one was always true. But the first three is brand new. I need a sleeping pill to pass out. Someone wake me up from the nightmare when Radha is making sense to me.
Anyways, Radha continues that she is helping out because Sonakshi is used to this room. After all, maan na maan, bangalan is no mehmaan.
Me: No. I can't take Radha talking on point any more. Uparwale, utha le re baba. Arre mujhe nehin. Ishwari ko. Ab ek wohi dharti pe bojh hain. Aur kitne din logon ko pakayegi? Ab usse narak mein aap paka lo.
Radha says that they have to accept that now Sonakshi will spend half of her life in this home. So they should make space for her on their own or Sonakshi will snatch it from them. Then she will get hurt, won't she?
Ishwari's face looked like it is hanging on a hook for a very long time. She slowly walks away the way in Bajirao Mastani, Kashi Bai was walking the defeated walk watching Bajirao with Mastani.
Me: Wait, wrong example. Kashi Bai was Bajirao's wife.
My brain: Nope, right example. Expressions match 100%.
At Bose house, Bijoy asks Jatin to talk sense to Sona.
Sonakshi protests. Bijoy tells her to shut up. He says that she didn't include them in her decision so he doesn't want to talk to her.
Jatin tries to calm him down. He says that Sonakshi is intelligent and whatever decision she took, she must have took after thinking about it. That's why she is his best friend. So he supports Sonakshi.
Bijoy tells everyone that they all got mad. Bijoy tells them that he could see what a big disaster it's going to be.
Then Bijoy urges Saurabh to talk to Sonakshi.
Saurabh also supports his sister and he says that if tomorrow Ronita comes, she will also understand.
Me: Sonakshi, you ungrateful woman. Do you know how lucky you are? You didn't think about your brother or his soon to be wife or her family when you took an impulsive decision so that you don't have to live like normal working mothers. But still your brother supported you.
You never valued a gem like Jatin, but he still supported you.
When will you be worthy of these people in your life?
And Saurabh, don't take your wife for granted like Dev did. Talk to Ronita and ask if she is comfortable with her sister-in-law's ex-husband coming to stay with her husband's family every other week.
I would have asked you to ask the same question if it was Ronita's brother-in-law's ex-wife were coming to stay with her husband's family every other week.
When she agreed to marry you Saurabh, she saw your family structure and you and based on that she agreed. She or her family can't question Sonakshi or Soha's presence because they were aware of that equation. But this is a new thing that you are springing on them. So of course they need to be informed and Ronita will have to be okay with it.
You can't take it for granted that whatever messed up situation your sister create, Ronita will have to swallow it. Sorry, that's not fair.
Anyways, Sonakshi tells Bijoy if he noticed the change in Soha.
Bijoy says that it was because of Dev.
Sonakshi says that Dev is her father. And they both took that decision for Soha and she wants his support.
She assures him that Dev and her will never get together again..
Me: Had you discussed all this before extending the one week sleepover offer to Dev, I'd have been suitably impressed. But I am finding you so selfish Sonakshi that I am not being able to get mad at Bijoy for your behaviour.
Ishwari is walking around like zombie when she notices Golu. He says that he tried to sleep but he can't sleep without BigCha. So he thought may be ice cream will help him sleep.
Me: My heart just broke for the little boy. That boy has no one except his BigCha. The least Dev could have done is give him a call. But no. He has his new source of obsession to replay the repeat telecast of his childhood which apparently Golu was sufficient until now, but is inadequate henceforth.
Maataji also tells Golu that she can't sleep without Dev too (Me: Really? Phir saat saal se ullu banke baithi thi kya?) and there was one time when Dev could not sleep without her either. Then a girl changed everything.
Me: Wah, kya sikh dete hain yahan bachhon ko. No wonder Ishwari Suhana ko Dixit banana chahti hain. After all, ek aur misogynistic generation paida nehin karenge, to Dixit ki torture ko aage kaun badayega?
Golu says that his BigCha says that girls ruin everything. But she is girl too.
Me: Golu, I can kiss you sweety. Kya point pe maara hain...
Ishwari says that she is not a girl. She is a mother.
Me: Are you frigging serious? Waise sahi bhi hain. Ek aurat hoti to naa ek doosri aurat ko samajhti. Lekin Ishwari duniya ki ek lauti maa hain. Sonakshi to nanny hain.
Anyways, Golu asks Ishwari if she talked to Dev. Ishwari says no. But instantly gets an in. She asks if Golu wants to talk to Dev and she should call Dev on his behalf.
Golu says that no. Ishwari asks why? Golu says that his BigCha went there today to spend time with Suhana. And this is their first day. So they should not disturb them now. When he is with his dad and someone calls him, he feels bad and then he doesn't pay attention to him. If they call his BigCha now, then Soha will feel bad too.
Golu said he also wanted to talk to his BigCha. But he thought of Soha so he didn't call.
Ishwari is taken aback. She asks when she got so understanding? Golu said that he was always like this. But no one noticed it.
Me: Truer words have never been spoken. Golu, I swear I will happily adopt you, my child. This family doesn't deserve your kindness and your giant heart. Dev, for God's sake, treat Golu with kindness. This little boy has more capacity to love and care than all of your family put together.
Ishwari, why don't you take a lota of water and jump into it. You should be ashamed of yourself for trying to use a little boy for your selfish purposes who is already hurting. But still that little boy thought about your son first. You are not a mother, Ishwari. You are a parasite. Because a mother should think about her son first.
Sonakshi comes to her room where Soha is playing with Dev. Soha runs to her and hugs her and says that she won all games with Dev. Sona cheers for her. Then she tells her to change her clothes and go to bed. But Soha doesn't want to sleep. Sonakshi and Soha negotiate bed time.
Dev smiles. Sona and Soha look at him together. Sona asks what?
Dev says that everything is just as he imagined.
Soha asks for clarification. Dev says if she likes dragons. Soha says yes. Dev says that then she will like the story of a princess and dragons.
Soha agrees. Dev asks where is his room? He and Soha will sleep there. Sona is about to leave to show him the guest room when Soha says that she wants to hear story. But she can only sleep in her room and her bed.
Dev instantly comes up with solution for Sonakshi to sleep in guest room and him to sleep with Soha in her room.
Sonakshi refuses to go to guest room in her own home. Dev and Sona argue on the room.
Soha comes up with the idea to both the parents sleep with her in her room.
Me: Seriously? You two are that kind of duffer? If Soha can't even sleep in the guest room of the same house because she "can't sleep" without her bed, then next week when she goes to Dixit mansion, will you transfer her room along with her bed there?
My goodness, you guys are seriously two suckers for parents. Soha says jump and you just jump before even asking how high. It won't take too long for Soha to get spoiled.
And Sonakshi, starts practising to sleep in guest room. Ishwari is renovating Nanny's room as a brand new guest room for you. No no, don't complaint. You made your bed under her mercy and that's where you will lie.
Bijoy is listening from outside and Asha tries to drag him away. He reacts very predictably to every discussion that's happening in there. Bijoy and Asha bicker. She tries to drag him away but he can see where his duffer daughter is going. After hearing the room fiasco, Bijoy says Sarvanash...
Me: Again, truer words have never been spoken. Bijoy, I am feeling for you. Really I am. I wish you had taught Sonakshi a little more consideration and loyalty for her own family.
PRECAP: Sonakshi wakes up next morning and sees that Dev is about to fall from couch. Sonakshi runs to him and tries to push him back on the couch. But Dev roles over and falls on her. Eye lock, tashan blah blah blah.
Me: And Bijoy's heart attack.
P.S. My husband got the promotion I mentioned last week. Very happy and proud of him. Thanks to you guys who wished us luck. I helped him in sorting out his negotiation points so we were out celebrating over the weekend. Sorry for my lack of activity. But I read every one of your comments. 😊
