Akash doesnt want Kushi to have friendship with Lavanya because she is a Kashyap and they share a bitter past. So if Kushi supports Lavanay the situation will get worse. If you go back and look at the chapter, you will notice that she repeatedly asks Lavanya to leave.

They were near the gate when Kushi rushed and hugged Lavanya from behind, " Lav, see you tomorrow. Can we both go to college together." "Smile !! "

Arnav prised Lavanya from Kushi, she needs to keep away from this girl. He felt protective towards Lavanya as she seemed as gullible as Purvi.

Arnav left the place seething...

Kushi turned towards her brother with a determined expression...

CHAPTER 9 (Their turmoil)

Arnav... ...

Arnav was driving the car in deep, thoughtful silence. Slowly he came out of his pensive thoughts.

Arnav: " Lavanya, where is your home?"

Lavanya gave directions to reach her home. They started chatting when Arnav realized that Lavanya's surname was Kashyap. The Kashyaps were one of the affluent families and top fashion houses in India.

In fact one of Arnav's business associate, Shwetha was a Kashyap and apparently was Lavanya' sister. She was one of Arnav's class mate but drifted after college. Arnav had got immersed in starting his own company and flourishing it and he lost track of her. However, when Shwetha met him in one of the parties they caught up with old times and now she was Arnav's business associate. Due his busy schedule and family problems in the last few years, he never got a chance to meet the rest of the Kashyap family. Ironically on this strange night, he actually got to meet Lavanya Kashyap.

"What a small world!"

Meeting Lavanaya was probably the only good thing that happened that day. Immediately his thoughts traversed to Akash's sister. In fact both Purvi and Lavanya from extremely affluent families were humble and gentle. In contrast, Akash's sister from a humble back ground seem to be flying high, taking advantage of her brother and friend's goodness. He was still nagged that she had not defended Lavanya when her brother was piling accusations.

Lavanya interrupted his thoughts: "Sorry I did not know that Akash worked for you . Kushi said that her Bhai had moved to a new company but I never knew he was working for you. I hope today's unpleasant events do not affect things between you and Akash. Else, I would feel miserable!"

Arnav: "Don't worry I do not mix personal and professional issues. Akash will be at AR as long as he performs professionally."

After a brief pause,

Arnav: "But Lavanya, your friend should worry not you."

Lavanya: "But ... Kushi was inebriated today ! It does not happen everyday."

Arnav: "Is it? You are just defending your friend. Tell me how much alcohol did she consume."

Lavanya kept silent...

Arnav: "Shall I make a guess, I am sure she is a habitual drinker. Because a first timer can never drown herself with that amount of alcohol. "

Arnav: "Also its just not her drinking habits , she is a rude girl ...

Lavanaya: "That's not true... She hardly opened her mouth."

Arnav was lost for words. What Lavanya said was true. The girl barely spoke to him.

Arnav thought to himself, " Am I opinionated about the girl, prejudiced because of my personal opinion about alcoholism" or "Am I upset that she caught me in a weak moment this morning."

They reached Lavanya's house and he stopped in front of the gate. The entire house was engulfed in darkness. The security came and opened the gate. Arnav was surprised that no one was waiting for her.

Arnav: "Do you want to call someone, so that they would come and open the door for you."

Lavanya: "No, they will be sleeping . Anyway I have a key and can let myself inside."

With a smile, she thanked me and went inside.

Arnav drove to his home, parked his car and immediately the lights in the portico was switched on and Di came out. No matter how much he advised, she would always wait up for him.

Arnav: "Di, why are you waiting so late ?"

Anjali : " You tell me , why you are late?"

Arnav narrated the evening incident and his encounter with Akash. He did not go into details about Kushi. Di was friends with Aksah and cared for him. After three years of pain and desolation, Di warmed up to Akash. Arnav felt that Di and Akash would make a good couple and when they marry they can get Shravan's custody.

The custody battle for Shravan was slightly tilted towards Shyam as he was married and hence in the law of eyes provided stability to Sharoo's upbringing. But Di as a single mother may encounter problems to gain custody of Shravan. The very thought that they may lose Sharoo's custody made Arnav dizzy with fright. He had tempted Shyam with money but his demand and greediness was limitless. Arnav felt that Di's marriage was a better way of getting custody.

Akash was the most suitable person for Di. He was very certain that he can convince Di and Akash for the marriage. So , he did not want to put negative thoughts about Akash's sister to Di. He hoped that Akash's sister does not create any issues to this proposal. It was apparent that Aksah loved his sister and her opinion would matter in this alliance. Arnav was concerned and he did not want to make any impulsive decisions and make the right moves so that Sharoo will belong to them forever.

He enquired Di about Sharoo, his baby nephew. He went inside Di's bedroom, cuddled to Sharoo and drifted to sleep. His baby... his darling Sharoo. Please God let everything go fine.

Kushi...

Kushi was physically and emotional drained. This particular day did that to her every year. She never celebrated her birthday because that was the day her mother breathed her last. It was associated with so much anguish. If only she had got a single glance of her mother, at least a picture ... Nothing. She felt her mother was just a figment of her imagination.

Her suppressed anger spewed, " Dammit !" Her mother, Vandana, was very beautiful, gullible, and life had failed her. Her mother thought she met eternal love, believed in promises made by a monster who used her for physical pleasures. He destroyed a beautiful lady and left Kushi with a life of anonymity . Eventually her mother's heart break killed her. Kushi used to torment herself, ' if her mother's death was because of heart break or she just didn't want to see her child, a reminder of deceit. '

Bhai recounted that her mom named her Kushi, so that her daughter would always be happy unlike herself. Whenever Kushi complained to Bhai how her mother could die leaving her alone in this world , he would always say " Bachha, she knew that I would take care of you." That's her Bhai... her blessing...her angel...

She got a bad bargain but so did Bhai and Raghu, they were all orphans. But her skewed fate did give her a brother the world would die for. For Kushi in life , it is her brother first and last, now and forever.

Kushi never discussed her pain with anyone because it would reflect in Bhai and Raghu. She can never cause pain to others, after all it was her mom's last and only wish for her daughter "Kushi". But Kushi wished to let go of her bottled pain, just one time. Many times she was tempted to lay her head on Bhai's lap and cry out in pain. But she was terrified to do so because her brother would be heart broken.

Raghu ...her buddy... He was strong but not when it comes to Kushi... He carries the guilt that he had messed Kushi's life. No matter how much she tried to convince him that it was fate, he still carried the guilt. So she cannot reveal her inner turmoil to her buddy.

She looked up to the sky and wished the Lord would send a special friend to her for just a day, so she can cry out and then her bitterness may dilute. She just needs a single day to rest her head on some one to vent her painful past.

Thanks to the coward who broke a beautiful woman's spirit, Kushi owed to herself that she would never let anyone in her life. A man would never be her weakness, never be the reason for her tears. No man would get close enough that she would lose herself. Kushi made sure that it would never happened in this life time. She had built a chip, a shield, an armour around her which was impenetrable.

She did not carry any romantic illusion about life. She was happy with her life . She and Bhai would stay together always. They would stay together... No marriage in their lives. If Bhai does get married, then she, Kushi Gupta would choose the bride for him

Love , Romance , Marriage ... LIFE TOGETHER ... over exaggerated emotions which Kushi wanted to keep away .
