I will open the thread. You guys can continue your discussion. I will update later and change the title with EDITED!!!
I am an optimist and realist person both at the same time. I not only dream pie-eyes dream but also make sure I work hard to achieve them.
When I thought that I want a better life, I didn't complaint, cry, whine. I packed my bags, came to Canada, got another degree, got a better job with more salary than I could have got in India and wrote my own life story my way.
But it was my life. Hence it was my right to control.
When I wanted my mother to move in Canada with me, I didn't make demands and give her ultimatums of never coming back to India if she refuses to move here. I made a request.
Yes, that's correct. This is one thing a son or daughter can do. They can make a request.
I said, Mum. I love you and I miss you. So would you please for me move to Canada?
My mother then had the free will to leave her familiar life behind and move to a strange country for me or to tell me no.
She chose to move in Canada because she wanted to be close to me. But even if she had said no, I would have to accept that.
Either way, it was her choice. Because it was not my life, it was hers. She didn't cease to be a human being and became an extension to me the day she gave birth to me.
It's perfectly natural for a daughter to want to have her mother close. But natural desires doesn't give right to threat, manipulate and give ultimatums to anyone.
Otherwise, Ishwari has to be forgiven for her natural fear of losing her son, Radha needs to be forgiven for her natural desire to see her son successful, Vicky needs to be forgiven for his natural desire to see his son gets every opportunities, Bijoy needs to be forgiven for his natural desire to protect his family, Dev needs to be forgiven for his natural desire to please people in his life by continuous lying, Sonakshi has to be forgiven for her natural desire to protect her daughter by making Dev sign the legal document.
In short, everyone in this show has a natural desire. Then why isn't everyone forgiven? Why point finger at one for one reason yet absolve another for the same reason?
We all relate to one character or another. So why blame one but not the other simply because one relates to one more than the other?
Had Soha made an effort to try to remind her parents the good time they shared so that they with their own free will decide to get back together, I won't have blamed Soha. The same way, if my mother had said no, I'd have showed the positive things about Canada so that she changes her mind herself. Not by any kind of force or manipulation, but out of her own free will.
Because who doesn't try to change no to yes? We all have whined and complained to our parents until they gave in for something we wanted or understood that we are not going to get our way when they put the foot down. How many of is threatened or blackmailed our parents? Nothing justifies ultimatums or blackmail.
And nothing justifies people pointing finger at real people's opinion about fictional character while expecting others to respect their opinion.
EPISODE:
The episode starts with Asha supporting Dev and Sona. So since Asha already put her neck on the noose, Mamaji jumps in and supports Dev and Sona as well.
Then he bundles up quickly and take his liabilities away.
Sona tells Bijoy to take Soha and go home. She wants to talk to Dev.
Dev tells Suhana that he is sorry that situation got out of hand. Sometimes older people also behave like kids. Then children shows them the right way.
Soha says that she got it. If he behaves like kids, she will come to teach him a lesson. Then she thanks her dad.
Me: Yes, sure honey. You already taught them a lesson. It's called how to be a sucker. If you ask me, you are the smartest person in this two families. You say jump and your father won't even ask how high. After all, you are his new Goddess. The older Goddess has to give up her throne for you.
Anyways, Soha says thanks to Dev for doing this for her. Dev says that both him and her mother did it. Then he says Soha to go home with Naani. She says, not Naani, Dida. She calls her Asha though because she is too cool.
Dev agrees that Asha is cool and thanks her. Asha nods smiling. Then he tells Soha to go home. Soha says okay.
Soha goes in the car. Bijoy tells Dev that he need not think that like these people he can fool him too.
Sonakshi tells him to go home because he has work to do.
Bijoy asks what work.
Sonakshi reminds him that Saurabh's Aashirwad is tomorrow. And he was going to Kolkata today?
Bijoy starts thinking.
Dev throws a comment, Mr. Bose, let him know if he needs help.
Bijoy gets riled again.
Sonakshi grabs his hand and warns him, Dev. He stops.
Bijoy leaves with Saurabh.
Me: When initially this track were announced, some people were wondering that Sonakshi blamed Dev for not balancing between relationship, how she would balance between Bijoy and Dev?
This is how you balance relationship. The person who was wrong today, she chastised that person. Not with disrespect, but with logic. It doesn't mean that even when that person is right, you will chastised the person. The aim is to stop disrespect, not cause it.
And the person who was right, whether you still love that person or not, you defend their respect. Again, you do not let them face insult.
So yes, Sonakshi got a spine.
Anyways, Sonakshi and Dev is sitting in his office. Dev asks when can he come to pick her up.
Sonakshi asks why.
Dev says that they promised Suhana that they will live together. So of course they will live in his house. (*Snort*)
Sonakshi says that they promised Suhana that they will live together. They didn't promise her that they will live in his house.
Sonakshi says that they can also live in her house.
Dev says that that's not possible. How can he live in her house?
Sonakshi says that he can. But how would he? He is a man after all. Why would he disturb his life for anyone?
Dev asks her to think how that is possible?
Sonakshi says but why is it not possible? Women sacrifice so much for men.
Dev continues, that she is being feminist again. In one side she talks about equality and in another side she says women are better than men.
Sonakshi says that he is moving from the point. Dev says she is not coming to the point.
Me: Okay Bhaiya, I will make a fair and equal point.
You wanted equality yes?
1. You automatically assumed that Sonakshi should live under your roof with your family despite all the insults she tolerated at your home vs. you having to live under her home with her family who, remind me if I am wrong, has always treated you like a cherished member every time you visited. So going by the past experience, you should believe in equality and actually offer to move in her house since that's the better environment. Yes?
2. You know how shocked you got when Sonakshi proposed for you to move at her home? Would you have got as surprised had she proposed to move in your home? No. You won't. Because that's what men take for granted for women to do. They take it for granted that women will move and disrupt their lives. They never expect to do the same. That, Bhaiya, is not equality.
3. You thought you have to live under the roof of a man who hates you even though everyone else in that house is completely respectful to you at all times? Now imagine the fear Sonakshi might have when she has to think that she has to live under the roof of a woman who, along with the entire family hates her and mistreated her. And unlike her, you let it continue.
But the fact that you didn't think any of this takes away your right to talk about equality. She didn't say women are better than men. She stated a fact that women disrupt their lives and moves in with men and not the other way around. You don't think that's a fact? And if that fact makes you think women are better than men, how is that Feminism's fault? That's a conclusion you drew yourself.
But let me give you an equal option. To make it a balanced, clean slate, let's count the no. of days Sonakshi spent in your house, you spend in hers. After that you both can make alternate arrangement. That's a fair arrangement. Would you go for it?
And dear CVs, do look up the meaning of Feminism and Chauvinism before using this word in the show.
Sonakshi tells Dev that he again didn't surprise her (Me: Me neither). She says that she won't move to that mad house.
Dev says that her house is also very noisy.
Sonakshi says that her house's noise is better than his house's peace.
Dev says that doesn't she think she is saying too much?
Sonakshi says that no, she is speaking from experience.
Me: Isi baat pe Sonakshi didi ke liye taaliya. Koi torture chamber se nikal ke wapas thode jaata hain?
Anyways, Dev had no answer to refute Sonakshi's experience. But he says that he won't go to her house and that's final.
Sonakshi says fine. Then go tell Soha that you can't do what she wants. Then she will go back to Kolkata.
Dev says that he won't do anything of that sort. He says that they both promised her. So they both have to keep it.
Sonakshi says that she is going home. When he makes a decision to let her know.
Dev stops her and proposes alternative arrangement. He proposes to get a home where they can live with Soha.
Me: Yeh hui naa equality wali baat. Perfect. Yeh chalega.
Sonakshi says that what will happen when they go to work. Who would Soha stay with. She doesn't want to separate Soha from the people she is attached to.
Me: I swear Sonakshi I am going to smack you. What the eff? How do you think rest of the world manages? You can drop Soha in with your parents and pick her up after work. And if you think it will be difficult for Soha, then she needs to understand the consequences of her action. May be she would even change her mind when she has to stay away from her familiar routine.
And by the way, your parents are not your baby sitter. Have you thought that they might want to give some time to Saurabh and his new wife instead of having to deal with your screw up parenting and messed up relationship?
Anyways, Dev says that she can't have her way in every situation.
Sonakshi says that let's compromise. One week Dev will stay at her home and one week she will stay at his.
Dev refuses to stay at her home at any cost. He says that he can't do it.
Sonakshi says that's fine. He can be stubborn. When Soha goes to Kolkata tomorrow, he can sit in his office.
Dev is worried.
Me: This is the result of impulse actions. Your stopgap measures are never ending cycle of future problems. And I am talking to both of you.
Dev, what is unimaginable for you due to one person in Sonakshi's home, Sonakshi put up with from every person in your home for days and yet you blamed Sonakshi for leaving. Before you talk about equality, at least look up the meaning in the dictionary.
Sonakshi, you want to talk about equality. Where is the equality when you expect your parents to put up with your ex-husband under their roof just because it is convenient for you and your daughter to have a built in baby sitter? Where is the equality when you also expect to move in Ishwari's house and expect her to baby sit your daughter despite knowing how much she hates you?
You may not give a damn about Ishwari and I don't blame you for that. But you do give a damn about your parents, don't you? Their opinion is not just there to support your decision, isn't it?
I thought you loved to be in a family where people take decision together. Then how did you make that offer to Dev without talking it over with your family if they are okay living with Dev so that you don't have to hire a nanny?
Anyways, Asha is charging Bijoy that they didn't prepare anything for Saurabh's Aashirwad. Bijoy and Soha are following her listening to her scolding.
Sona comes there. Soha says that she was waiting for her. She asks what did she say to her dad? What is going to happen now?
Bijoy comments, Sarwanash honewala hain.
Soha wonders what happened to Dadu? She asks her mother again.
Sonakshi tells her that they haven't decided anything yet. When they do decide, they will let her know.
Soha says that she knows that now they are a team. So whatever they decide will be fun. Because she is the best.
Then she says that she will check with Bijoy. He must be mad.
Me: No comment. I don't know what to say to this mess except that it's gonna be chaos.
At Bose house, Saurabh and Ronita video calling. Saurabh shows his Gold sherwani. Cute scene. No narration needed. Adorable to the max.
They are more of my time's worth to watch.
Anyways, Dev is pacing and thinking about Sonakshi's proposal back home.
He is weighing his options.
In the meanwhile, Radha is doing her job. She is inciting Ishwari (Not that she needs inciting against Sonakshi). She offers to book a room in Haridwar for Ishwari along with her since Sonakshi is re-entering her home.
Me: Please do. Tere saare paap dhul jayenge, ek one way ticket book karwa de Maatasree ki.
Ishwari is sitting with her constipated face. I swear, Bijoy and Ishwari have matching expression when they hear each other's children's names.
Radha tells her to do something. Ishwari says what she can do? She doesn't understand how Sona came between Dev and Soha.
Me: Hummm... Let me think. Wait, I know. See, Maataji. Sonakshi happens to be Soha's mother. You know, the same deed you keep taking credit for? Yes, so that's how Sona came in Soha's life. And how she came between them, you can thank your mini-me's strong genes for that which 6 years of Bose upbringing could not change. After all, you should be proud. She inherited them from you.
Radha tells her to file a case. Ishwari refuses because she thinks that she might lose Soha. Bose family will separate Soha from her.
Me: Not because this is wrong thing to do. But because then she will lose Soha. She got her priorities set.
Anyways, next day Aashirwad ceremony happens. Cute scene.
Jatin asks Soha what happened? Soha asks Sonakshi for Dev. Sona tells her that her father will come but may be not today.
They all dance on Tune maari entriyan.
At Bose house, Dev made the decision to shift to Bose house. Radha tries to change his mind. Dev refuses to change his mind because his daughter is most important in his life.
Ishwari is speechless. Because her famous insider vs. outsider speech is useless in this situation which she used to always shift Sona in the bottom of the priority list.
He tells his mother that he suggested to stay in a separate house. But Sonakshi said no. Because she said that it's important for Suhana to stay with family. Then he thought that his house was broken for years. He can't let it break any more.
Ishwari is again upset. Dammit, her best blame was taken away by this girl. She used to blame her for breaking her house. But she never even attempted to do that.
Mamaji happily jumps in and says that see? Dev never forgot any of his responsibilities.
Ishwari, Radha and Vicky are po-faced. Only Mama and Elena have smile in their face.
Ishwari realizes that she has no option any more. She feeds him Dahi-sakkar and blesses him for God to save him from budi nazar.
Me: Maataji, you are donating your eyes. OMG... I am so proud of you. *sniff*
After Dev leaves, Mamaji tells Ishwari should be proud of her son. Ishwari says that she never thought that she will have to see this day. But she will also do her job. When Suhana goes away from their home again, she will go as a good daughter of her son. She will go away as Suhana Dixit.
Me: Sonakshi, you did a great job. In spite of knowing the situation in Dev's house, you decided to subject your daughter to that. Now Suhana will return from that house with you as unidentifiable child whom none of you will be able to recognise. It's not like you have any personality to stop Ishwari from brainwashing Suhana. But hey, her home, her rules which she made clear on the first day you stepped into her house.
Anyways, Dev reaches Bose house unannounced.
He waits outside thinking all the old memories. All his memories are good ones because he never spent a single bad day at Bose house. It won't be the same for Sonakshi though.
Dev thinks that he had so many relationship with this house. But now just one, Suhana's dad.
