Chapter 24: To be loved
Geet watched Vicky run away in speed, very much understanding his craze. She felt the same once upon a time, she couldn't wait to be with Maan then and now she very much wanted to be away from him. Life, why was it that complicated? There's couples like her and Maan, where love was missing and then there's couples like Vicky and Meera, where there's plenty of love but little of understanding. Maybe it wasn't a life thing, it was probably a love thing. Love was complicated!
Maan and Adi were busy discussing details while Sasha's mind wondered yet again, the last hour seemed impossible for her. Her mission had only been one, to find out who this 'IT' was but Maan had made it mission impossible. The minute she and Adi entered, he had bombarded them with queries each of which Adi answered. When Maan asked what she had been doing, she feigned a headache to which Maan said nothing but the grimace was permanently placed making it known that he didn't like it one bit.
'Sasha so what do you think?' Adi piped in seeing Maan's angry glare directed towards his lost colleague
'Sasha' Adi nudged throwing an apologetic look towards Maan forcing a breakage into her thoughts, that was still wandering around this 'IT'
'Sasha you might as well leave since you're more of a nuisance than help' Maan bawled throwing a file towards her which she immediately flipped open seeing red signs, Maan had marked areas and indicated in notes her next course of action.
'Adi I'd like you to...' Maan started but stopped seeing a forlorn Geet enter, ending their discussion right at that minute.
Geet had sat in Vicky's cabin for a while thinking of life and then the ringing phone made her realise she was alone, loneliness seemed like her only companion. Even in a sea of people, it seemed to still grip her in its clutches.
With a sigh she got up to leave for Maan's cabin, this office business being too much on her soft self. All she wanted was to be at home, in bed and with Bella. She needed advise and only Bella could help. So without much waste, she walked along the straight path that lead to Maan's cabin, if people looked her way she didn't know for her eyes were trained to the floor and her mind was a forest of thoughts. Geet didn't even bother knocking and just opened the door, to say her state of mind was bad would be an understatement. She looked at Maan in acknowledgment before going back to the sofa which she occupied previously and then stretched for a magazine as an excuse feeling his gaze on her.
Sasha was shaken by the woman's audacity, this 'IT' didn't knock nor provided any explanation and just sat down as if she owns the place, didn't even bother to smile either. The more shocking thing was the fact that Maan said nothing rather looked concerned.
'You can go home now Adi and Sasha' Maan said taking note of time
'MK who is sh..' Sasha dared to ask
'I said leave' he yelled looking directly at them, not liking the intruding questions to which both shambled their bits and pieces together and ran for the door, but even then Sasha never failed to run her prying eyes over this unknown woman who wore a black kameez looking sophisticated but had a face which looked young and immature.
'Geet is there a problem, did Vicky say something?' he asked sitting warily beside her
'Nope everything is good, we're back to normal' her wet smile showed how hard she was trying to hide her emotions
'Then why so sad?' he questioned forwarding a tissue
'I want to go home' she cried gently tapping her nose with the tissue
'What happened?' he groaned yet again in displeasure
'Mujhe ghar jana hai' she snivelled looking towards him with tear filled eyes
'Fine lets go' he shot up pulling Geet to her legs and then directed out the door, she could feel his angry restricted vibe while he blinked back her hurt eyes.
'Pick up' Vicky screamed for the nth time, it seems like Meera knew he was repenting and that's why his calls where rejected or ignored. Frustrated, he pressed harder onto the accelerator zooming through the somewhat clear roads, rush hour was long gone with it being beyond 7pm. The minute he was at her place, he jumped out before the car hit a stop.
'Meera open up please' he begged seeing the fate of the doorbell meeting the same as his calls.
'MEERA' he shouted loudly pushing at the door
'Get lost Viks' he heard her angry voice
'Meera please, look honey puffs please' he fell on his knees trying to cool down his temptress who he knew was running on fire
The minute the door opened, he was awarded with hits and blows, 'sorry' was all he muttered pulling her to his chest.
'Sorry' he apologised into her hair while she broke down in loud sobs
'I was a fool, I'm sorry' he said when Meera pulled away
'You're not forgiven' she whispered going back to his chest with a voice which he knew meant he was back in the safe house but that didn't mean he forgave himself. For that he needed to tell Meera everything which would start after he ensured she ate something.
Geet had silently let Maan steer her by the waist, not even for a second did she look up. But then again there wasn't that many spectators seeing how most of the employees went home. Once at the lift, she had moved to the corner knowing very well that his questioning look was on her, so she maintained her gaze low. Why was she sad? Well she wanted Maan to be her husband in real form, she wanted to be loved which he couldn't give to her and hence it was best not to ask or be questioned.
'I'm not holding the door for the wind to get in' his sarcastic remark stopped her movement which was heading for the front seat of the car, beside the driver.
Maan looked at Geet with exasperation, annoyed with her silent treatment. When all she did was look at him in confusion and then back to the ground, he forced her into the back seat with a heavy hand.
'Sorry' he muttered seeing her shocked expression, she then nodded as she shifted in her seat trying to move away but that was controlled by Maan who had his arm still around her.
'You're meant to sit with me and not the driver' he whispered in agitation coming close to her ears and then fell back. Throwing his head onto the headrest, he ran a frustrated hand through his thick hair. Why was she always so sad? Why did he care? He thought sitting back up to look at her but by then she moved to the corner and hid her face, pretending to look out the window.
'Would you tell me what's wrong?' he asked trying a calm voice
'I want to be loved' she wanted to shout but instead opted for a little shake letting him know that she was fine, which in turn he took as that she wanted some quiet for now
'FINE' he screamed switching to his phone however Geet closed her eyes, in the hope that the tears would absorb back into the white surface with the passage of exit being sealed, but those hideous drops still rolled down the curve of her nose and was washed away by the dark sleeve on the wrists.
'Vicky you idiot, how can you think like that?' Meera hit his thigh in annoyance, Vicky had narrated why he thought it would be best to be apart making Meera blow a fuse over his weird thinking.
'I don't care about anything as long as you are with me, we can live in the slums or with rats for all I care but my Viks needs to be with me. Vicky I won't live without you' her determined silly slap got to him before her words but both had the desired effect, he immediately pulled her into a bear hug with the thought of thanking Geet and telling Dadi.
'Vicky all I want is to be with my love' Meera declared intertwining her hands with his while his lips curled into a loving smile after all he wanted the same
'As for the family, I like them as they are. So what they argue, fight or don't even talk to each other. They are your family and soon to be mine' Meera confirmed, so that Vicky wouldn't feed into lousy ideas like this no more.
'I love you' he stated pulling her closer while she repeated the same.
