Varun has found a niche he has done well in with very little competition.

If he was that popular all directors would be chasing him with many diverse scripts.

He does not suite them.

He was in talks for Zoya Akhtar's next

He was also signed for Milan Talkies which is still not made as director, Tigmanshu Dhulia couldn't ever find right cast for his film.

He has Shoojit Sircar's next signed. And also another film with Sriram Raghvan. He is making his place without big directors so it's good for him. It's better to have that than highly expected Tamasha, Bombay Velvet, DDD and Befikre from big directors
