3.1 "Not branded" (A) Shivaay Singh Oberoi
"I forgive him."
Her voice washed over like cool water on his burning heart.
She was enthralling.
Her face shone with the light of her soul and for the first time he felt like laughing at himself - how in the world had he ever imagined her to be anything other than extraordinary?
But it was her eyes that baffled him the most.
They were hypnotic.
She had once said that she found his eyes beautiful... but lately he had found himself drowning in hers.
She was unlike anything he had ever seen or encountered.
How could someone be so selfless?
He deserved the pain - he deserved worse. And yet, she had found it in her to forgive him, every time. Not for him... he knew that... but for his family.
He didn't recognise himself in her eyes.
Her beautiful chocolate-honey brown eyes that reflected his image in the shadows of the night.
The reflection almost looked unfamiliar.
He felt sick.
"Raatein dhal jaati hai
Batein kai baar talwar jaisi chubti hai
Lekin dil toh sheeshein sa hai
Tootne par bhi sirf izhaarein mohabbat karta hai"
Omkaara's soft voice broke into his reverie and he felt a fraction of a weight lift off his heart when he felt his brother lightly touch him on his shoulder.
"O-Om"
He knew he was fumbling but there was just too much that he wanted to say. To him. To her. But he didn't know where to start - how could he even apologise to any of them?
"O bro moment mere bina?"
Rudra' dramatic whine almost made him smile. And as he turned to see him come up behind her, he suddenly wanted to break down.
She had not let his brother's break away from him.
She had forgiven him. Again.
She had given him this gift at her own cost, again.
Her hypnotic honeyed eyes were shining with unshed tears and he felt like someone was stabbing at his heart with a knife.
He tasted salt as he felt a lone tear slowly trickle down the side of his cheek.
"Bhaiya-"
Rudra bounded towards him then. He was crying too. He felt his arms open instinctively.
And as he felt Om and Rudra hold him on either side he almost collapsed from the sudden relief that passed through him. Air rushed through him and he felt light-headed. He hadn't realised that he had been holding his breath ever since Omkaara had refused to let him approach him.
"I am sorry Shivaay -" He felt Omkaara's sob and he brushed the back of his head soothingly.
"Shh-"
But through it all he never once looked away from her.
The unshed tears and the small smile crushed him.
He didn't deserve her.
