I love this movie! It was a sweet and touching tale of the magic of art and how it can bring happiness to life. The play in the end is the best adaptation of Romeo and Juliet that BW has made, with no competition. Lovely songs too. Koko and Kunal had such good chemistry. Haha, isn't it hinted at the end that something would eventually happen between Madhuri and Akshaye. With its background, Madhuri was perfect for the role.
I don't know why it didn't work...maybe it came too early, at a time when audience wasn't as receptive to female led movies. Maybe 5 years after it released, it would have done better. I remember people also ended up comparing it to CDI that released a little bit earlier and had a very similar arc, but focused on sports instead.
