Hi there everyone! I haven't made many posts on this forum but I'm really enjoying the show now - so couldn't stop myself from writing something.
It took quite a long time for this show to grow on me but I think finally it has š The CVs have taken the crux from beauty and the beast and woven their theme really around the war between simplicity and complexity.
Mahek truly embodies simplicity. It's not just her tastes but also her temperament. For her, love and relationships come first. She doesn't let ego complicate things. She easily fell in love (not suspecting his motives and sudden change of behavior at all) and confessed her feelings upfront. Later, she chose her family over him. It wasn't difficult for her to make that choice at the time because clearly her love for them was more than what she felt for Shaurya then. When her love for Shaurya deepened, and after the half marriage, she simply landed at his place with a mission. She didn't bother about what the world will think of her decision or her compromising on her self respect. She forgave him repeatedly for his beastly acts and offered to help him with all her might. Her thoughts are not clouded by conflicting ideas or ideologies. Her choices may be right or wrong but they are simple and straight from the heart.
However, when it comes to Shaurya, he is on the other end of the spectrum totally. For him, nothing is simple. His priorities are extremely clear for him - but his thought process is exceedingly complex. He elaborately planned the recipe book theft without thinking once also that he could have just asked Mahek for her help after having established a good rapport with her initially. He could have just hired her as well - she was more than ready for that! The first sign of guilt appeared when the only reaction Mahek gave after hearing about his plan was - "you could have just asked me." Her reaction reflects her simple thinking - whereas he cannot imagine she would have given her treasure so easily to him - he has never got anything that easy! In the present track too, Mahek concedes defeat simply and that leaves Shaurya dumbstruck. He fights so vigorously for his victory and here is a girl who can give it away to him so easily - I lost, you won. That's it! Mahek tells him too that scheming, plotting, exploiting people and their emotions is his forte - not hers - and that is the simple truth. He tries all his twisted tricks in the book to hold her back whereas all he needed to do is tell her that he loves her. Of course, he can't do that yet because he can't admit that to himself yet!
This conflict between simplicity and complexity is also the reason why MehRya are so strongly attracted to each other. They are like magnets who are bound to be different but cannot stay apart. Their worlds must collide in order to merge. That is why, even when they are fighting tooth and nail, they cannot overpower their feelings for each other and give in. I'm glad the CVs have kept to their vision with respect to the characterizations. In between a lot of things didn't make sense, but now when I look back, I see it all does (except of course the bloopers). When they finally come together, they will complement each other very well š³ She will make his world beautiful and he will keep her safe from the big, bad world outside š³
Kudos to Samiksha for doing a good job of portraying the innocence and guilelessness of Mahek š Kudos to Karan for making Shaurya so devilishly fascinating to watch š
Keep up the good work and happy watching everyone!
