JNDSD~My take~Thursday 2.3.17 ~Defacing the mask
In life humans don masks and assume pretence due to varied reasons in life. Decorum, propriety on occasion as and when required. We check our behaviour when showing reverence or observing solemnity. We also put on masks to maintain anonymity, to cover up from exposing our real self . Today's episode, to me deals with two aspects that of concealing and revealing. Yet the audience is left to make sense of the dramatic irony of which the protagonists are unaware, but we know it all..
The episode opens with Guddi seeing the featureless face sketch that Atharv made earlier . Such irony the face which for Atharv is blank ,for Guddi it defaces and the face behind the blank etch as that of Vividha. Simultaneously at Ajmer we discover.. Ankit's mask of cheapness is exposed. The wolf in sheep's clothing is defaced in Aditi's room. Ankit's black deeds, although denounced collectively by his family. Are interestingly covered up by Suman , which leads me to believe there's more to it than meets the eye. To me it's apparent , Suman's idea is to protect this evil one, is to keep him obliged and use him at a later stage against Vividha. By defending for Ankit's, stay in the house rather than exit, Suman also aims to create a underlying rift between Vividha and Ravish as Vividha always denounced her brother, while Ravish believed in giving Ankit a second chance.
Once again Suman is in the business of picking on a mother's son and this time Uma is the mother on the line. Ankit is disgraced, before all! grovelling before all!and finally upon his knees before Ravish Suman's son. Suman with concealed dexterity with her masquerade of being a well wisher of Sujata and Uma's family plays the game of not only in discrediting their sons Ankit and Atharv, but in also being their controller too. While her own son Ravish stands glaring exposed yet again in Ankit's saga as the protector of both Uma's and Sujata' s families.
Once again in Ankit's crude exposure and Vividha severe disparagement of her brother, while Suman rescues him. Her shrewd move protects him, from the threat of being thrown out.. as she sees possible use of his evil persona. For if she takes him under her wing it'll be 3 people she will have a strong hold on.. kailsh , Guddi and now Ankit. Suman aims to isolate Vividha from sibling love and loyalty as we see that Guddi who in reality loved Vividha now as the new Guddi hates her sister.. all the deeds of the woman in white who wears a mask.. that none dares to remove.
Ankit's exposure scene is like shock treatment. What happens to a family when it discovers that one within their fold is a black sheep. The person who gets the strongest jolt is Ravish! Imagine the blow he will receive when his mother's mask will be removed and he comes face to face with the catalogue of atrocities she has committed! But till her mission is not complete Suman insists on keeping Ankit here .. all disagree with her but to get to her end, she even risks her daughter's life ,like she did with Ravish..
Revenge for past wound, not forgotten to this day! While Ravish fumes for his sisters Aditi's honour which possibly makes Suman happy. However, Suman allows Ankit's sister Guddi to possibly live in sin with Chintu in her house supports her in carrying his child.. Suman actually plays with Vividha's family honour without them ever knowing about it. Suman with her mask of proper ,pure, pious stops at nothing she can get away with in terms of forgetting and forgiving!
Two males father and son being dressed, doted, and fussed upon by up being key women in their lives. Madhav's mother Vividha dresses him up and Atharv's wife Guddi dresses him up. It's strange, but true that both women are sisters. Who are somewhat controlled by the masked woman in white. Both men young and old wear red.. a colour that alerts. For Guddi Atharv s red tie is symbolic of fake passion she showers upon him, plus her concern what if he remembers wholly the face of his true love Vividha completely? with special effects of his past! for Vividha Madhav's red tie stands for immense love for her son.. the inherent insecurity of losing him too.. like she lost the one who walked away from her life never to return. Madhav now is the reason she lives. The little peppy on the ball, image conscious hero gives purpose to her life. He is her man before whom she sheds a tear or two before.. and he is the little man who wipes her tears away too. In fact he is the little man who empowers her with new hope of something new to happen on a new day. What her little man says to Vividha contrasts with what she last night to Suman.. that she feared something awful was about to happen. But Vividha's heart now believes in her sons words..it's like the deities have spoken well into her life through his mouth.. hers fears of losing him subside..
Her boy was right.. some caller on the phone for Suman.. but Madhav forcibly , has to be the connector! between his mother Vividha and his father Atharv! A voice.. that passes through his ear makes sense to his mind, but that jars at his heart which misses a beat.. A voice that was music to his ears, now strums at his heart as notes that he heard before.. the voice ,a tune of some long gone song which Atharv now is desperate to recall.
overall the focus of the episode for me was the Ankit incident ,and where suman comes in with messing up relationships within both Atharv and Vividha's families. How she parades securely with the mask of goodness on. How she uses earmarked people like puppets as ameans to an end. The episode ends on positive note.. more chances of Atharv getting back his past.. henceforth looking forward to more of the phone call between Atharv and vividha.. hamlet53 3.3.17
