JNDSD~My take~ Wednesday 1.3.17 to sleep to rest, or dream..
Sleep is the sweet balm that descends upon us after our body by nature requires a break from work. It is a god sent for the purpose of giving restoration to the body and mind. However with this natural need ,also comes interruptions of sleeping disorders ,which may point to underlying emotional experiences. Sleep and conditions related to it , have been referred to as a feature related to key characters and notable events in the past few episodes . Suman's first attempt to control Madhav was in the event of the child sleepwalking. Atharv begins to show signs of recurring dreams of images, events that interrupt his slumber and he experiences startled awakenings each night. Sleep churns up his troubled dreams involuntarily into an area blocked from his mind. We see in the episode other character too looking for rest ,but the heaviness of their preoccupied minds rob them of this state of tranquillity.
Vividha as a mother is not asleep to modulating her son's behaviour when needed. Madhav is told off for unacceptable actions with the goons. Ravish too is very much awake to the fact that he is the boy's father ,and as such defending his son is very much his business. However both the mothers warn against dire consequences of such confrontations with undesirable elements. Suman serves a chilling reminder that it's like putting the women of the household at risk by defending themselves. Fear is inculcated by Suman's wake up call.
Ravish's sister Aditi provides the healing touch to Madhav's scuffs and grazes. While Vividha's brother Ankit tries to make use of the situation and offers himself in the role of her healer and protector in case of an undesirable incident. It's almost as if he pre-empts some untoward incident is meant to happen to Aditi ,to which she is fast asleep to. Healing is being given at another destination by Vividha's sister Guddi to Atharv whose dreams now begin to haunt him fairly regularly. In turn Guddi too appears robbed of her sleep! she requires Atharv asleep. So she can awaken her sleeping bonds with the surreptitious Chintu who like Guddi also awaits for Atharv to sleep..
Some things defy explanations two people divided by the distance of memory loss of four years and one forgotten story of a love that was, but now gone for good.. both suffer from images that conjure up in their dreams. Atharv startles at the sight of Vividha in his dreams. Vividha too wakes up gnawed by his images. What strange simultaneous occurrence of interrupted sleep from these two spirits, once together , yet being awake they are asleep to each other's existence? What miracle will come about to awaken these lost spirits into a union? As evil stalks the abodes where they abide..far away from each other
Suman the ghostly widow in white lies in wait for all to become nocturnal creatures at so she can prepare sleep inducing potions for Atharv to further push him into the land of no return. But some power stronger then Suman's undercover evil rises in the shape of a sleepless Vividha. Yet one more time Vividha finds her mother in law being a victim of finding it hard to go to the land of nod..
Miles apart Vividha's edgy impatience transports her out of her into the courtyard. Unknowingly her restiveness transfers to Atharv too. He needs space to thrash out of his repetitive dreams..black and white images..that leave him questioning while he is awake. One face that makes his heart groan..he has the urge to give it life through his creative etching .. while Vividha stands looking at the silver orb in the night sky firmament, her face eludes to different angles, from full face to profile. Her image was part of his existence, and now his persistent sleeplessness caused by her dream, comes yet again to excavate her image from his buried past to his present! So while she stands behind her window, Atharv goes with his flow, takes hold of the moment purges his sleepless emotional agitation and draws the rudimentary out line of face.. the head covered by a bridal chunari.. his imagination suffers a block! A featureless face stares back at him unable to answer his questions.. who is she? how is he related to her Why does her face reign supreme in his dreams?
Over her dead body, for hell's sake! the last thing Suman wants is Atharv to regain his memory its giving her sleepless nights. Still the witch doesn't need sleep herself , she is busy hatching her plots of keeping the balls up the air! for this game of hers has to be played meticulously to get her ultimate victory that she hankers for. But like a shield to keep tabs on Suman , some force makes Vividha hovers around her. But hoodwinking Vividha is no mammoth task for Suman. She puts on this image of the wise and staid woman of god! and literally draws out craftily all that keeps Vividha lose sleep. Cunningly allays Vividha's fears about what the priest said about her . Suman speaks words of wisdom and dismisses his prophetic words as beyond the comprehension of lay people, the likes of Vividha. Vividha some how augurs that she is restless something inauspicious is about to happen. This steals away some of Suman's peace and she rapidly uses hypnotic words to come into place , when she shifts the attention from her questionable presence and lulls Vividha into sipping a taster of the potion originally made for Atharv, too..Suman attempts to misuse the power of devotees faith to put to sleep their ability of clear thinking.
Sleep stolen and riddled by dreams..haunted by the past.. so tells Atharv all to Guddi his concerned wife. She is wide awake to her dirty task that Suman has set up to. Ensure, that Atharv never clocks up to his past, keep him dosed up on special memory blocking agents. But Atharv only sees what Suman wants him to see..guddi! the loving wife who has the right to know that some memories exist locked in his mind. He cries out opening his mind, that he sees the image of woman who despite the wailing of his soul speaks to his heart..images of people conjure up and parade before him in his dreams.. but he knows them not.. and next minute he admits, that when he sees his present family they all seem strangers and he cannot help but feel that he is a misfit here among those presently he considers his family.. Guddi hears him loud and clear.. his confusion between his past images and his present reality. Panic sets in her and she puts emotional pressure on him by some real facts, she is his wife and the baby she carries is their child!
Atharv gives in to his present mode for the moment and assures his wife with something vital to her for all intents and purposes.. that when he is troubled by the visions in his dreams he will surely tell her. Guddi gathers him and puts him to bed .. urging him to drink his night cap, he resists but she coaxes him.. one sip and Guddi's face swims before his eyes and repulsed by the drink he turns his face the other way, he sees the image of the woman ..the bride. Atharv succumbs to effects of the drink.. to sleep.. to dream.. of her.. Guddi runs her fingers through his hair as his eyelids grow heavy... off to slumber..off to sleep Atharv ... so she can glide off to her Chintu ..
The episode was a treat to see both Atharva and Vividha in their subconscious minds, sense and feel each other's presence. Vividha although appears very nearly taken in by Suman's new semblance and sanctimonious mindset . I believe she has put Suman under the scanner. She may give Suman a run for her money! Atharv continues to see images and transports visions on paper for further perusal.Lets hope his etch of the featureless face bride does not get in wrong hands. Losing sleep or losing ones's peace seems to me the drift of the episode.. and the highlight of Atharv and Vividha moving towards each other is a dream, on the way to coming true.. hamlet53 2,3.17
