"My dear Red, maine hearing kiya tha Jeeji apne King Son (Raja Beta) Dev ki second marriaging kara hai hain..." Radha Rani had come hurrying to Vicky's office to apprise him about the new development in Dev and his mother's story... GKB as per her habit didn't care to low down her tone and talked at a mile per second, that caught attention of Sonakshi who was passing by.
Not that Sonakshi was eavesdropping, but she wanted to know if Dev was moving on... "Good for me." She thought. "If Dev moves on, he will stop hovering around me..." she concluded to herself.
"Mummy aapko office nahi aana chahiye tha... Koi sunn leta toh..." Vicky cautioned his mother...
"Oho, my dear Red, nobody seeing us. We akele talk rahe hain..." Radha Rani assured her son that they are alone and nobody will see them.
"Toh Aagey kya news hai mummy?" Vicky asked.
"Pata nahi, I thinking Jeeji marriaging se pehle ka caantrect (contract) banwaayengi shayad." RR informed that Ishwari might get a contract made.
"Aapke kehne ka matlab hai, Prenuptial Agreement?" Vicky was rolling his eyes for his mother's pathetic English.
"Haan wahi... Jaisa uss Bangalan Sonakshi ke samay banwaaya tha na? Waisa... Taaki koi bhi unke bete ki mehnat ki kamaayi na leja paaye... Achha kiya tha jeeji ne jo uss Bangalan ke aane se pehle hi banwa liya tha..." Radha rani bad mouthed Sonakshi...
"Wo sab toh theek hai mummy, yeh socho ki iss baar Dev bhai uss prenup ko kaise sign karenge? Pichli baar toh buaa ne Dev bhai se dhokhe se sign karwa liye they, wo dubara wohi galti nahi karenge. Waise hi wo buaa ke saamne kitne chukanne rehte hain... Bhai iss baar bua ke haath nahi aane wale." Vicky said.
"Teri buaa jitni straight dikhti hai, utni hai nahi my dear Red Son. Uss Bangalan se Dev ki shaadi tudwaane mein humein utni mehnat karni nahi padi, Kyuki jeeji ne pehle se hi jaal bicha rakha tha... Kab usmein Bengali Fish aaye, aur kab wo usko another lake mein phenk dein... Very smart hain Elder sister, I mean Jeeji." Radha Rani justified.
"Chalo mummy, dekhte hain, kya karti hain bua iss baar... Aap ghar jaao... Koi aapko yahan dekh na le." Vicky sent his mother off.

"Maa, tujhe kam sunaayi dene laga hai ya samajh mein bhi kam aata hai? Maine kitni baar kaha hai ki main kabhi dubara shaadi nahi karunga, matlab nahi karunga... Mere liye shaadi ka matlab, patni ka matlab sirf Sonakshi thi, hai aur humesha rahega... Chaahe wo mere saath iss bandhan mein rahe ya na rahe... Main ab kisi bandhan mein nahi reh sakta. And that's final." Dev told with a sense of finality to his mother who had come to convince her son for remarriage.
"Thank you, Mr. Dixit for the kind words towards me... But I think you should agree with your mother... She really wants to see you married... Isn't it Mrs. Dixit?" Sonakshi had come to Dev's cabin to clarify with him, but seeing this conversation, she couldn't resist butting in...
"Stay out of it Sonakshi. I haven't asked your opinion... It's not about you." Dev wanted her to be as less involved in all this as much as he could refrain her from. He knew his matters related to his family were nothing less than mudslinging, and there's no point hurting her yet again.
"The same old Mr. Dev Dixit, always busy keeping me away... But it is all about me, isn't it?" Sonakshi spoke.
"The same old Miss. Bose, prejudiced to the nth order. I will keep clarifying and you shall never listen... Never mind." Dev just wanted to rather keep her engaged in his conversation, than his mother getting into one with Sonakshi. But they say, a pitcher that oft goes to the well will break at last... So, did the silence between the ex-mother and daughter in law...
"Dekh le Dev. Tu iske liye shaadi nahi karna chaahta tha na... Ab toh ye Sonakshi bhi bol rahi hai... Ab toh karega na?" Ishwari spoke hopefully.
Even before Dev could exhale a tired breath, Sonakshi spoke- "Chaahte toh Mr. Dixit aur bhi bohot kuch they Mrs. Dixit... Jaise mere saath shaadi nibhaana, par aapne koi khaas kasar nahi chodhi humari shaadi todne mein."
Sonakshi, tumhara faislaa tha." Ishwari looked accusingly at Sonakshi.
Dev who was silent among the saas-bahu fight suddenly broke his silence, because he could not resist asking- "Sachhi maa? Tuney kabhi nahi chaaha ki meri aur Sonakshi ki shaadi toote, toh kyu banwaaya tune wo prenup agreement? Kyu wo agreement tere liye itna zaroori tha ki Mere mana karne ke baawjood tuney dhokhe se mujhse dastakhat liye unn par? Kyu?" Dev's eyes were accusing his mother. While Sonakshi looked dumbstruck, what she had heard Maamiji and Vicky talking was true? Did Ishwari really did the fraud? Sonakshi felt numb.
Ishwari looked defiantly at her son- "Maine tujhe hazaar baar ye baat samjhaaya, ki ye maine apne parivaar ki bhalaayi ke liye kiya... Iss ladki se bachaane ke liye kara..." Ishwari pointed towards Sonakshi as she continued-"Isko toh shaukh hi tha bada banne ka... Do minute nahi lage isko tujhe chodh ke jaane mein... Dekh aaj kahan se kahan nikaal gayi... Agar isko teri property ka hissa mil jaata toh hum sadko par, aur ye yahi zindagi jee rahi hoti jo ye aaj jee rahi hai..." Ishwari spoked stone hearted.
"Maa, ek baat samajh le, main jo aaj bana hoon, kisi ke ehsaano se nahi bana hoon... Apni mehnat se, apni lagan se bana hoon... Kisi ne laakar mujhe apni property ka hissa nahi diya tha apna ye business khada karne mein... Agar gir bhi jaata toh phir bana leta... Koi paisa cheen sakta hai, intellect nahi... Aur jis ladki se main apni jaan se zyada pyaar karta tha, uspe aisi 10 companies qurbaan... Main 11th apni mehnat se khadi kar leta, par uski nazro mein aise mujrim bana nahi khada hota pichle saat saalo se..." Dev was defiant. A distinct tear twinkling in his eyes, ready to drop.
"Aur teri maa, teri behnein?" Ishwari asked.
"Kya reh gaya? Neha ki dubara shaadi kara di, ek company ke saare revenues uske paas jaate hain... Riya ki apni company khulwa di, achha khaasa kamaata hai, Nikki ko higher studies ke liye abroad bhej diya, Ishwari Communications ki mobile company uske naam par kar di... Tere aur tere rishtedaar, Maamaji, Maamiji, Vicky, elena, sabke future secure kar diye... Sab khaate hain baith ke, main kamaata hoon... Ho gayi tere parivaar ki bhalaayi?" Dev asked impatiently.
All Ishwari could do was nod. "Par Dev..."
"Matlab ab main apne saare farz se free ho gaya... Matlab ab kisi ka ehsaan nahi raha, koi zimmedaari nahi rahi... Ab main apni iss choti si trading company ko chalaau, paisa kamaau, shaadi karu Sonakshi se, ya uske bachho ka baap banu, kisi ko ab iss baat se fark nahi padna chahiye... Hai na maa?" Dev asked like he never needs her answer...
"Dev, par mera kal, aaj aur kal sirf tu hai beta... Mujhe tere paiso se koi lena dena nahi..." Ishwari was horrified at her son's words...
"Sachhi maa? Phir tu Sonakshi ko badi banne ke liye kyu kos rahi thi...?" Dev cross questioned his mother... Before she could answer, Dev told- "Tu jaa maa... Kuch nahi karunga main jo tu chaahti hai... Aur ek aur prenup toh Hargiz sign nahi karunga..." Dev laughed his head off...
"Dev! Tujhe kya lagta hai ki main tere dastakhat lene aayi thi chori se?" Ishwari was aghast.
"Bharosa nahi hai na maa, kaun, kab, kahan, kaise dhokha de de, bharosa nahi... Isliye aaj kal toh apne saaye se bhi cautious rehta hoon... Wo bhi andhere mein saath chodh deta hai..." Dev told. Ishwari was hurt beyond. Her son doesn't trust her... After all, she did cheat him, for whatever good she thought she had intended. She left the cabin wordlessly.
Once assured that they were alone, Sonakshi crossed her arms on her chest and asked- "Aapne bataaya kyu nahi?"
"Kya nahi bataaya?" he asked.
"That aapne wo prenup nahi banwaaya tha?" she asked with a straight face.
"Oh, please Sonakshi, apni sharp memory par thoda sa zor daalo, and yaad karo, I did tell you multiple times that night in the farmhouse, that I didn't make this prenup, sign karna toh door ki baat hai." Dev told her defiantly.
"I thought, you were drunk, and were just making excuses to reconcile." She confessed.
"Two things Sonakshi, first, had you asked your own parents about this, your baba would have vouched for me not in favour of this prenup... He was there when I had scolded maa for making it in the first place. Secondly, alibi or not, I wanted to reconcile, and yet you gave no mercies on me..." Dev accused his bleeding heart to the one who had the sole rights on that stupid organ of his.
"Can we sit and talk, if not much but the misunderstanding could be sorted, please?" Sonakshi for the first time in years was ready to give more than 5 minutes of her time to make a better decision of their life... Reconcile they will they were sure...
